Vince quickly dusts his pants as he stood up. Glad that his reflexes were intact and that he was able to break the fall without getting any bruises or injury. Feeling a bit embarrassed as some of the young men walking along the pavement before the accident continues to gloat at her. Now that she is injured and a bit helpless Vince immediately realized they had some evil intention and keeps murmuring.
Having no idea what was happening but his concerns for her were deepened by the seconds.
Returning his attention once more to her, ignoring their taunting he wanted to make sure she was safe now.
She on the other hand didn't seems to care what others were saying or thinking about her. She seems to be caught up in the matter of fixing her problem.
Vince observed when she took out a few plasters from her briefcase pocket, placing one on each of her knees that was bleeding and on her elbows.
Seeing how she was blowing the bruises when suddenly trickles of tears drop on the skirt.
Vince knew she was experiencing pain but it seems as though it is unbearable now.
Wanted so much at that time to assist her, reaching to pick up her shoes for her when both of our heads collided together. Heard her shout at him, "For God's sake stop helping me please, you are making things worse."
Her voice was shaky but she was right, she is already in pain from the bruises and now she will end up with a headache,' about to reach out and lift her off the ground, she seems to sense what I was about to do when she said, "Don't think about it, I don't like people touching me and I will be alright."
Feeling his head pains from the collision and her attitude and behavior was not helping.
Saying to her, "Look, you are hurt so let me take you to the doctor then I will drop you home."
Seeing the puzzled look on her face as though she was trying to figure out what I was saying. When she slips out the cotton from one side of her ear then asks, "You said something?"
Her tone of voice wasn't that furious but before he could whisper a word she had already pushed back the cotton wool into her ear and said in a more serious tone of voice, there was no gentleness this time, "Just do me a favor please, and stay the hell away from me."
"But you are hurt?"
When she puts her finger on her lips, as though she had read my lips, "I am, but I will live, and you are not to be blamed, it was an unexpected accident."
"Will you just stay here, and I will get my vehicle to take you wherever you want to go, just to be on the safe side."
Reaching out he held her hand but she brushes his hand away from hers, and refutes, "I said I don't like people touching me so stop worrying, I will live so there's no need for you to be concerned."
Standing up to go get his car whispering, "Boy, she is really angry, and acting strange, I only hope she hasn't gotten any serious damage the way she was covering her ear."
Looking at him hurrying to the car park, Sidney stood up and flag down a passing taxi then leave.
Unable to contain her anger she whispers. "Men, why do they all think that women are weak and they cannot do anything for themselves? They believe in everything they are superior and all women must bow to their command. God, they are gullible and disgusting and I hate them so much."
"Ma'am, your destination pleases?" The taxi driver waited as he repeatedly asks. Getting no response he pull-aside, about two hundred feet away from where he picked her up, and turns around.
Feeling the wounds burning, Sidney considered what had happened and asked herself, 'Why was I hearing bells ringing in my head so loud? I felt like my eardrum will burst. And why am I feeling so confused it irritated the hell out of me. Also, the gentleman didn't do anything wrong he was very concerned and wanted to be helpful to me. I could see he was a bit distressed and worried. So why was I so angry with him when he was just trying to be helpful in a bad situation?'
Looked around to see if there was any Church around, but she didn't see any such building, so where did the ringing of the bell come from all of a sudden?'
Still confused about everything that had happened, removing the cotton wool from her ear, feeling such relief.
'Thanking God, she wasn't badly damaged after a few almost crushed her, and now she wasn't hearing any bells ringing anymore.
All the noises and people talking at once seemed to have affected my hearing, but it was no longer pealing in my eardrum.
"Lord, I know it was not his fault; so why was I feeling so irritable when he was trying to help me? Well, whoever he is I may never see him again, but I should say I am sorry for shouting at him, if ever I see him again?"
Hearing the driver ask, "Ma'am, are you alright?" Waving his hand in front of her face, "You didn't say your destination?"
Looking towards him still in a daze only to realize he had pulled aside and was looking at her for a response with great concern. "Sorry, sorry, it's Belmont Avenue at Haley's Garden."
As the taxi driver drives, he keeps glancing in the review mirror, thinking 'This person seems confused.' She keeps mumbling some words then she sighs as though she was relieved about something. Did something happen to her before she has me out?'
Reaching her destination saying, "Maam, we are here.' "Thank you," Sidney paid and step out.
As always Haley was waiting by the gate, "Hi honey."
"Sis, we got an order today." Seeing how happy she was.
"You did?"
"Yes, Mom will tell you all about it."
Giving her, her favorite chocolate, "Here you go, now I hope you have been a good girl for Mom today?"
"I have and thanks, I love this raisin and nuts chocolate."
Seeing how excited she was as she opens the snack as they enters the house, "Mom, Sis is home."Haley calls out, Sidney could hear how happy she was.
Hazel turns herself to hearing Haley's announcement and how happy she was. "Sidney, honey you didn't tell me you were working late again?" Her mom said.
"Mom, I had a new client today that needed to settle his account book immediately, so I got held back."
"Okay, go and freshen up quickly then we will have dinner."
"Mom, Haley said you get an order today, was it a big order."
"You can say so love, but we will discuss it after dinner, we have all been waiting for you, George and Carol were busy fixing an order for tomorrow, they are very tired, so hurry along and freshen up and let us eat first."
