Trip to Humanity 5

MORGAN'S P.O.V.

I concentrated on my cooking, trying to push out Nick's expression from my mind. He had looked extremely flustered from Samantha's close proximity, and his cheeks had turned extremely red. His cough was extremely fake too, and I could hear his loud mind.

He found her attractive. I stopped for a minute and glanced at her. She had gone back to her seat, and was checking her nails for dirt. It was something she always did when she was feeling down or sulking. Something that easily qualified her as a nerd in the human world, something I, the king of vampires found extremely attractive.

I dropped the knife and mixed my ingredients. I can't blame Nick, I will never be able to. Samantha was an epitome of perfection. I could see her in a thousand years, still maintianing this utmost perfection.

I only needed to see how he handled his heart's treachery. He couldn't control his heart, but I believed he could exert a certain amount of control on himself. She is mine. He is my friend. It didn't matter what happened, he would have to suppress it.

"Is something wrong?" Samantha asked, and raiaed her head to me.

I shrugged. "What do you think of Nick?"

"He doesn't seem to like me very much," she sounded confident.

"Why do you say so?"

The food was ready, and I took out two plates. Nick, I was sure had already gone home. His aura was not to be dense anywhere near.

"Well, for one, he avoids all sort of contact. And he seemed so annoyed when I held his arm earlier."

"Is that why you are sulking?" I asked her and balanced the tray of food on my arm. I held her arm with my free hand and helped her up.

"Let me help you with that."

I shook my head. "I can do it, just answer me."

"No, I am not sulking. I just.."

"Yes?" We walked calmly, and I stopped in front of my room.

"I just feel sometimes that I am not enough." I let go of her arm briefly, and opened the door.

"Where is this?" she stopped and asked, her eyes inquisitive.

"You've never been to my room. I just started asking myself why I gave you another room. You belong with me."

SAMANTHA'S P.O.V.

I know I shouldn't be feeling this way, but seeing how Nick reacted to me sort of made me feel like I wasn't up to standard. I had bad hair days, and a short attention span. I always had my nose in a book and wasn't the prettiest.

"You are the prettiest, Samantha. Don't let Nick's shyness make you overthink things."

I stopped and looked at him. His room was elegant and way darker than mine. Mine looked like the light skinned, untanned brother.

"Can you hear what I am thinking?"

Morgan dropped  the plates and pulled me into an embrace.

"You're perfect with the bad hair days, and I promise i'll kiss your hair then too. When you have your nose in a book, I'll play you some soothing background music. And when you feel you are not enough, look in my eyes and see just how perfect you are. You are not a diamond in the rough, you are a polished gem. You don't need refurbishing, you are exquisite already. You don't need to think things by yourself, you already have me to lean on. Whenever, wherever, however."
