Nathan.

I sat up, looking him up and down. "You're a vampire too, right? You're just like him."

He gave a small chuckle, then moved into the light, so I could see him. His eyes were red and black, his skin pale. There was my answer. I deflated and laid back down.

"I am a vampire. But I'm not exactly like him," He leaned towards me, then put a palm on the side of his face in the universal gossip language. "He sucks."

I burst out in laughter as he said it, kind of glad that amongst all the stoic, obedient vampires they were, this guy actually had a sense of humor. One that was infact, akin to mine. I sat up again, crossing my legs under me.

"Do you know why I was brought here?"

He chuckled. "Cause he's a sucker, and no woman wants him."

I laughed a bit, and then straightened my facial features. "Please?"

He shrugged. "Samantha, right?"

I nodded.

"I'm not sure you realize it, but you are in the biggest vampire camp in the world. The man who had abducted you, King Morgan, the strongest."

'But I am only soft for you, Samantha.'

He had actually meant it.

"Anyway," the man continued. "I am Nathan. And apart from my side job of babysitting you and tending to you, because every vampire here is now stuck with that, I am in charge of travel."

"Hi, Nathan. Nice to meet you."

He only nodded.

"So." I said suggestively. "The reason I'm here?"

"Oh, that."

I nodded. "Yes, please?"

"He needs you to cure him."

I knew that much, but the details after that were practically nonexistent.

"He isn't dying, of course. Its hard enough to see normal vampires like us just dropping dead, but..for a vampire like Morgan, He'll be around for some pretty long time. That's why he needs you. "

"For what exactly?"

"To Keep his humanity intact."

"I don't understand." I dragged myself off the bed, drawing closer to him. He didn't move away, so we stood, extremely close.

"If he doesn't get a human to fall in love with him, his humanity will be lost forever and he will wage war against humans."

I gulped. "Wage war against us?

"Pretty much so."

"I don't understand. Why..?"

"You Know what? Maybe we should take a tour. You don't realize how big and beautiful this place is till you walk around it. You'll get to see the book of legends, where all of this is explained."

I nodded, then looked around for my shoes. They were placed carefully by the side of the bed. I took them and went back to him, extending his hand.

I took in a heavy breath and tried to take it, before he let out a loud, agonized yelp. His hands turned at an odd angle, and he fell to his knees. The unmistakeable sound of breaking bones mixed with screams of pain filled the room as his back turned inwards, his hands all turned out.

"Nathan!" I tried to rush to him, but a strong hand held me back.

"Would you react the same way if it was me?"
