Mason

NARRATOR

A yell erupted from the cave, bone chilling yells that crawled on the skin and peeled it off. The black-red eyed vampire yelled, sending the wild animals that were in the cave running. He finally fell on the ground, as the dark blood crawled through his body, spreading wider and wider, leaving black patches everywhere it went.

He finally coughed it up, a black eyeless snake, and he folded it. It immediately morphed into a black knife, one that even the steely blade was black, and then thrust it into the pocket of his trouser.

The tattoos on his body covered the trail the snake had left, and he grabbed his shirt from the small rock nearby.

"Morgan," he muttered under his breath. "I am coming."

SAMANTHA

I watched as he brought in a breakfast tray, but I believed the main course was him himself. He was wearing a particularly tight shirt, one I could literally visualize his abs and packs through. Ever since that day at the garden, I thought I felt a bit more intimate with him. A lot closer. A lot more like a couple. I now understood why people jumped on it, but I was glad I waited for him.

It was a lot different from when he was human and now that he is vampire, and I hate to admit, but I loved it more now.

"I can hear what you are thinking..." He said in a sing-song voice, twisting his waist, his back to me. I blushed hard.

"Stop doing that."

"Stop mentioning me in your thoughts, then."

"I wish I could," I said, meaning every word. I wish I could shut him out and have my mind to myself, but my mind clutched him closer, bringing him in, welcoming his essence. I wouldn't deny liking it.

"So..here." He said after spreading the toast and kissed my lips. He withdrew to allow me eat, but if there was anything I wanted to eat, it was him. I pulled him back and kissed him, just before I heard Nick's exasperated voice.

"I am sorry to come in during such a lovey dovey moment, but..We have a problem, Morgan."

Morgan disentangled himself from me and held my hand. "What?"

"I need your attention. We have a problem."

"Is that problem me?" A third voice said and all of us, including Nick turned to the window adjacent to me, where the voice had come from.

A man that looked exactly like Morgan was sitting on the window, on his face was a small smile right in the middle of the feigned hurt expression he had on. It was weird seeing someone who looked exactly like Morgan, and I clutched the Morgan I knew and believed was mine.

"How sure are you he is the right one?" He asked, smiling, then jumped off the window into the room. Nick ran to my side as Morgan came to stand in front of both of us.

"How sure are you..." He continued to say. "How sure are you he is the man you love? How sure are you he is king?"

His eyes were dark red as he moved closer and the anger in his voice didn't match the smile on his lips.

"He has it." I said, not minding that this man could put me through the same torture he had then, or that he was literally close to me, but all I could see was Morgan's back as he shielded me and the long curve of the S of my tatted name on his back peeking through his shirt.

The man, Morgan's twin that Morgan had told me About, Mason, raised a brow. "He has what?"

"Your eyes..." I was going to say the tattoo. I was going to mention it and say that was what differentiated them, but something in me told me not to. So I decided not to mention his tattoo, and only mention the difference in their eyes.

"His eyes are blue when he looks at me. Yours are red."

He started to laugh as he looked at Morgan.

"She is a gutsy one."

"Stay away from her, Mason, you have nothing to discuss with her. You have nothing to tell her. Don't say a word. Don't come closer. Don't touch her. Your score is with me, so settle it with me."

"So protective. If it makes you glad, little brother, she was never part of my plan."

Nick ran between them as Mason took a step forward. "It is the minion."

With one finger, he flung Nick around the room, and I heard him yelp as he crashed into the wardrobe. I closed my eyes, and held on to Morgan's shirt.

"I always wondered...why...did you get to live in a palace while I was thrown to some cottage in the woods? We are literally the same person."

"I am not like you. You are not like me, and you never will be. You don't know how to live, you never can. Look at this city. Look at the vampires."

Mason nodded. "You have made then spineless fools with no taste for blood. They are just as good as humans, which is technically no good at all!"

All the light bulbs in the room suddenly exploded, and one particularly large piece came straight for my eyes. I closed it, but then heard it thrust into something else. I opened my eyes to see Morgan's hand in front of my face, the glass stuck in his hand. He started to heal immediately, covering up the glass. The pressure broke the glass into small harmless shards, and he smiled at me.

"Aww... You are a lucky girl."

"What do you want?" Morgan said, turning back to Mason.

"Well, being the very nice family guy I have always been, I want to live with my brother."

"You can't live here," I said quickly, clutching Morgan's shirt tighter. My knees felt weak, and I felt like I was going to throw up. My head was spinning, my breath unstable, and I knew I was going into shock. I clutched his shirt harder. He was the only one I had.

"Bold of you to think I was going to live here with him."

Alarm bells rang in my head. "You are going nowhere with my husband. You are going nowhere."

Nick ran up again, his body bloodied. "Morgan, Take her the other way. I will stop him."

"No. He came now, and even if he doesn't get what he wants, he will come back again. Leave with Samantha. Keep her safe for me."

"No! No! Morgan, don't. Don't leave with him. Please don't."

"That is so touching. A husband willing to leave for his wife, a wife not wiling to let go...It's absolutely heart touching. But..I want to take you in front of the lady."

He hasn't finished his words before Nick took a swing at him. His reflexes were crazy and he evaded it by an inch.

"Nice try. try harder."

He took another swing, and as Mason evaded it again, he took him out from his legs and Morgan held my hand  and took me away. I heard only a small thumb on the floor, but I couldn't stay to see what it was. Morgan gently pulled me and we ran down the stairs, then teleported to a field. The same field. The same field I fell in love with him over and over and over again.

"Samantha, listen. Our world...it's in a bit of trouble right now. I won't let you be part of it, I promise. You deserve better. I love you."

"Stop. Don't..don't say this, Morgan. It is our fight. It is ours to deal with. Don't push me away." I held him close, pulling him into my embrace.

"Samantha.." He patted my hair calmly, kissing my head. "I will keep you safe. I will have to keep you safe. Even if I pull through this, you...If you are not here, I will never ever be able to come back. I wouldn't want to, so please."

I pulled him to me and kissed him fervently, desperately. I was trying to hold on to him the way I needed to hold on to him, the way I wanted him to hold on to me too. I was sure he could feel my tears touching his cheek, and I didn't care. I needed him to feel for me.

Suddenly, everything got a little darker, and I held him tighter. "Don't leave, please." I said, as he broke the kiss and I looked around. I was back in my human room, and I knew what he would do next. "Please don't."

He smiled and pecked my cheek. "I love you, Samantha. I will come back for you, and..my child."

"Ch..child?"

His smile got broader and sadder. "Yes. My child. Take care of..both of you for me. I will come back."

He went on his knees and kissed my stomach, then my lips, and then just like that, he was gone.
