I look at the white fluff in front of me and say.

"You want to stay?"

"Hoot"

I can see the owl in front of me look at me as if I'm stupid. This owl is the bird I rescued last night. From what the locals say, this owl is called the Verian Owl or Snowy Owl. Its name comes from its natural habitat, which is the Verian Island, and its snowy feathers that many people like.

She flew and landed on my shoulder before smacking my head with her wings.

I think about a name for a few seconds before I come up with an idea.

"What about Jeanne?"

"Jeanne is a soldier in a hundred years war. She is the one leading an army to make sure the invader did not conquer her home. She is the symbol of loyalty and bravery."

"Hoot! Hoot!"

"Hahahaha, I take it you like it?"

"Hoot!"

I chuckle a little when I feel her nibbling my ear gently. I like her already. I look at Gion, who has been staring at the owl for a while now and say.

"Gion, can you take Jeanne to the kitchen and feed her? There should be some fruit and meat she likes. I need to do my daily evening training."

I get up and walk away from the room. The last thing I see is Gion glaring at the owl. What is her problem?

I glare at the owl, who has a smug expression on its face. I know it! She does all that on purpose.

"I don't know what you are trying to do but he is my Captain and I'm his right-hand woman. You will not replace me."

"Hoot"

I somehow hold myself from taking out my sword when I see the damn bird get even smuggler. I know what she is doing. She has been stuck with Captain Yuuji for her entire stay on the ship. That damn bird decides to make Captain's head as her nest and starts giving me a smug look every time the captain walks past me.

"Hmph. Come on, I need to get back to his side."

I let the birds land on my shoulder as I took her to the kitchen. When we get in the kitchen, I greet the cook inside, and they let me do whatever I want in the kitchen. I'm glad the captain let me have free reign in the kitchen. I love cooking and seeing Captain Yuuji eat my food.

"Here we are. What kind of food do you want?"

"Hooot?"

"Hmmm, we have some bacon, fish, and some diced meat."

"Hoot! Hoot!"

I see the bird point her talon at the bacon. I nod my head and say.

"Do you want me to cook it for you?"

"Hoot?"

"Yeah, sure. I can cook it for you. It will only take a few seconds. Wait here."

I cook the bacon for the bird and hear her hoot.

"Hooot Hoot"

"Hmmm? Yeah, the captain likes to eat my cooking."

"Hoot?"

"Well, he eats anything but he likes to eat fish."

"Hoot Hoot"

"Hmmm? Sure. You can hunt some fish and I will cook it for all of us. Just make sure to hunt more than one if it is a small fish. If it was a large one, you can only hunt one."

"Hoooot~"

I nod my head and put all the bacon on the plate before giving it to the bird.

"Here you go. I made half of them extra crispy. Tell me which one you like."

"Hoot!"

After eating all of the food, the bird looks at me and says,

"Hoot! Hooo~ Hoot~."

"You did not really like the extra crispy? Then I will make it not too crispy next time."

"Hoot~"

"No problem. Come on, we need to go and see Captain Yuuji."

"Hoot!"

I let her land on my shoulder and walk out of the kitchen. While I don't like her getting all of captain Yuuji's attention for the past three days, she has become part of our crew, and I need to take care of her just like the rest of our crew.

Now, if only that damn bird stopped being so smug when she perched on Yuuji's head.
