Gran Cadia

Grey Alpha, a young man who was raised at Starlight Academy since an infant, finds himself awakening as a Mage. What Grey didn't know is that Starlight Academy throughout the land is known a the worst academy with a graduation rate of 10%. This percent only because the rank requirement for graduation is Brilliance Mage, which is considered a powerful existence in Gran Tierra. If that wasn't bad enough Grey has also managed to form a contract with one of the weakest creatures to exist, a Wind Sprite. With a weak contract and a nigh impossible graduation goal. Grey has a long way before being able to become one of Gran Tierra's most powerful forces.

Strong Light, Weak Familiar

J stood in the center of the platform holding his breath as he stared at the portal wondering when his Familiar would emerge. Though it wasn't just J all of the audience was silent and stared intensely at the gate waiting for the familiar to emerge.

A few moments passed when out stepped from the portal was a giant emerald colored eagle emerged from the portal. The eagle was completely green aside from its tail feathers having black long the edges and its sharp black talons.

The eagle then stood tall and stretched out its wings before lifting off the stage and floating in the air above J.

*SKKKKKAAARRRRRRRR*

Many of the audience held their ears in pain from the loud screech but couldn't take their eyes off the majestic creature.

"Wow I can't believe it he formed a Contract with a Wind Scar Eagle! A powerful Wind familiar with even greater speed!"

"Wind Scar Eagles are rare among contracts and even at that this one is at the level of a Grand Beast."

"I hope I'm able to get at a familiar at least half as good. It's fitting as the son of a Councilor."

J stated at the Wind Scar Eagle before it turned into smoke. The smoke gathered around J's hand before enveloping his hand and disappearing. The young man looked down to see a small green symbol of wind on his hand signaling the contract was complete and headed to his seat.

Taking a his place between his parents J sat down and glumly looked at this hand when his father, Just GaleFlame, patted his shoulders in comfort.

"Now son don't be so glum many people are looking, besides I'm sure most of not all of them are jealous of your recent feat. So sit up and be proud remember you don't just represent yourself you also represent me and House GaleFlame."

J couldn't help but roll his eyes but he knew his father was right so he fixed himself and sat up.

The professor began calling up different names one by one to complete their Contract and summon their familiars. Every student got something different because there are various magical beasts to form a contract with.

The many students sat down quickly as they were called up because of the many students that needs to be cycled through. Grey looked on wait patiently for his name to be called as he studied the gold symbol on his paper. He couldn't help but overhear the results from the other students.

"I got a pinecone t-rex! What did you get?"

"I got a psychic boxing fox, not great but better than him"

"Yeah, I got a ruby red splash fish. Ugh this thing is so useless!"

The silver haired Mage looked on as the soon to be former students were either happy or disappointed with their results.

Nonetheless Professor Fang had to continue on through the rest when his eyes rested upon a familiar name.

"Next on the list, Grey Alpha!"

Grey jumped in surprise as he heard his name being called and quickly trotted down the stairs in excitement. He reached the stage and stood before Professor Fang as the latter urged him to the center of the stage.

"Now just hold the paper in front of you and like the others before cycle your magical energy and the contract will be complete."

Grey shook his head and closed his eyes and infused the paper with his magical energy. Soon after the paper flowed a bright yellow color.

The paper grew so bright that is was blinding many of the audience and most could not see. Judging by the brightness of the light, they suspected Grey had summoned something powerful.

In a large black palace was a lone dark room that sat a gold throne accompanied with two lone unlit candles floating one on each side. Upon the throne sat a black hooded figure playing with a small ball of water. The figure sat lazily on upon the throne when a small pillar of fire emerged in the middle of the room. Once the pillar disappeared it left a figure clad in red kneeling before the throne.

"Lord Father, The Three have sent word that his seal has been broken. Shall I go and secure him?"

The red figure spoke with a rough yet soft voice waiting for a reply from the person on the throne. Moments passed with no answer and the red figure looked up to see the hooded person staring intensely at them with bright purple eyes. Seeing the intense stare made the red figure drop their head immediately.

"I apologize immensely Lord Father, I did not intend to disturb you! I only wished to inform you of the situation.

The black hooded man did not reply but continued staring at the red figure. While he looked on he soon waved his hand and turned the water ball into the shape of a small spear before freeing it, leaving it floating in the air above the throne. He soon stood up walking towards the center of their room when the red figure was kneeling.

'Hmm how quickly 2000 years have passed.'

"War, I have two questions for you."

The man spoke with a smooth and soft voice almost like silk, yet each step and word increased the magic pressure in the room. The pressure was intense that it caused every living being outside the palace writhe in pain. Though the pressure was intense the red figure did not budge and remained kneeling.

"Yes Lord Father, I hope I can be of service."

"Yes of course, now first question is where is my lunch?"

"Your...lunch, Lord Father?"

The purple eyed man moved to open his mouth when War left in a pillar of fire without a second thought. A few seconds later the entire rom was filled with fire and quickly disappeared and left behind War, who was again kneeling and several sevens carrying trays full of food.

"Oh see War this is why I like you, very few words yet so many actions. That's how it should be!"

The hooded man walked among the servants gleefully while trying many of the different dishes, while nodding in approval. War waited silently waited as the man the ate his full. Not long after the man clapped away the servants and the magical pressure lessened but the mood in the room did not change.

"Now I assume you're waiting for the second question."

War remained silent and kneeling when the purple eyed man walked over and squatted in front of him. He reached down and lifted War's head by his chin and stared into the man's eyes. He said nothing before closing his eyes and putting on a eerie smile.

"Why are you still here?"

Before he could get an answer War had vanished in a plume of fire before his eyes, leaving him holding nothing but air.

Grey stood on the stage holding the Contract summon as the bright light that quickly enveloped the room soon faded just as fast. No word was spoken as the summon portal opened near Grey, hovering lightly above the stage waiting for the Familiar to emerge. The crowd became restless waiting for the results of the bright light.

"That light was bright that it almost blinded me, surely he got something good."

"We can only hope, never has it taken a familiar this long to emerge even when J Galeflame went his didn't take as long."

"Wait I think I see something coming out!"

After the crowd heard someone yell out the entire focus was on the portal as ripple formed indicating the familiar was soon to emerge. After what seemed like an eternity, a small blonde fairy like creature covered in a singular red leaf soon emerged from the portal. The crowd soon went into and uproar after seeing the Familiar emerge.

"A Fire Sprite?! All that flash and blinding light for a Fire Sprite?"

"I thought he would have gotten something good at least, its not even a high level sprite just one at the Magical beast level."

"Well this wasn't a total disappointment, we did have a grand opening with J and his Wind Scar Eagle. Though this being the ending is kinda lackluster."

Grey looked at the small sprite as it happily buzzed around him not paying attention to its surroundings. Grey held back his frustration and walked glumly to his seat with the sprite in tow. He looked over to J who gave him a thumbs up in order to cheer up his friend. J's father, Just Galeflame scowled at his son's open support of J.

'Worthless trash, I don't understand why my son would even associate with such garbage.'

Once Grey took his seat Professor Fang approached the podium on the stage and looked around the room at the happy expressions and some solemn ones.

Nevertheless the professor was joyed to help his students even if majority are leaving. He raised his hand and the entire building fell into complete silence.

"Now I'm pleased while simultaneously saddened to conclude this gathering today. I know many of you will go and continue your journeys at another academy here in La Tierra. I wish many of you good luck, fortune and health but do know this you will always have a place here at Starlight academy. This gathering is now concluded."

Once the gathering was concluded everyone left in groves out of the Magic Hall leaving the building except for one person. Grey sat there staring at the empty room while his Fire Sprite buzzed around him aimlessly when it suddenly stopped in front of him.

"Sheesh it's one thing to be useless but don't be annoying too. Personal space is a must."

Grey got stood up and walked away frustrated at his Familir when he heard a light yet arrogant voice from behind.

"A Human as weak as yourself has no right to speak to a god like that, such insolence!"
