Jumping over the huge cardboard box he stood in the centre of the room and started looking here and there. It seemed as if some changes were made in the attic looking at how the position of shelves had been changed.
The attic was lightened with the rays of the sun coming through the windows which were falling straight on the wooden surface.
Looking to the left wall, a sudden worry etched onto his face when he noticed the huge shelf filled with things covering that side of the wall.
He had not expected it to be covered!
He can't push this big shelf aside all by himself and even if he tried, the outcome would be something falling hard on the floor which would end up alarming the helpers cleaning the classrooms on the down floor.
Normally it were students who cleaned the classrooms after classes however on the day before the beginning of the weekends, like that day, helpers were in charge of cleaning the rooms when most of the students would leave the school premise to return to their home.
He had to think of something quickly before it gets dark. If he wasn't with a girl right now, he would have called his friends to help him out of here but knowing their personalities, if he told them that he had gotten stuck with a girl on the terrace they would end up making a huge deal out of this and the countless teasings he would be gifted with...he did not even wish to go into it.
Thinking of the long hair, he peeked behind him to find the girl still standing at the same position looking at the campus from the terrace's edge.
He had thought if she would be still having somewhat of her focus on him he could ask for help but...
He can't do anything of the shelf all by himself so giving out a torn cough, he turned on his steps and went out of the storeroom. Slowly moving his feet to where he stood before, he contemplated on how to even initiate a talk.
It was the first time he was left in the presence of an opposite gender from his school who was not even paying any attention to him.
He was someone who used to avoid girls all the time and that's what he had planned to do this time as well. But right now, he can't do that anymore if he wished to safely go out of here without being caught.
With all the thoughts going on in his mind he leaned by the door of the stairs and unknowingly kept his eyes fixed on the tall form of the girl.
Noticing her arms on the sides, Lin Yuzhong twitched his lips when he remembered how he had caught her wrist in a haste earlier.
That was a bit inappropriate...
Never had he during all these years of his school life been in any sort of relationship with a girl so it could be counted as the first time he had initiated physical contact with a girl from his school.
Even if it was just a mere touch of holding hands.
Could she have minded it? Was that the reason she was standing awkwardly?
He felt uneasy because of this, clearing his throat he broke the silence that was lingering in the atmosphere between them, "I am sorry about earlier!"
The girl looked a bit startled hearing his voice and slowly turned to look at him. She had thought he would keep on ignoring her but now that he was talking, she was filled with slight nervousness.
Pressing her lips together, she appeared mulling over something as her eyes visualised hesitancy.
Watching the cute expression being displayed on the face of the girl, again he felt the same warm fuzzy feeling hitting him.
Heck! He abruptly yet nonchalantly turned his head in the other direction when she drew her gaze at him.
What was wrong with his mind?! Why was he having a weird feeling coming to life inside his stomach?
Shutting his eyes tight, he took a profound breath to regain his composure before directing his eyes back at the young lady who was making him feel the things he never had before just by a simple stare.
After about thirty seconds of her uninterrupted stare, he heard her speak in a soothing tone, "I am sorry for earlier too...I had not thought someone to be in the corridor at that time so...for colliding on you....that was unintentional..."
Her voice trailed off by the end as she spoke softly in English instead of Chinese.
Lin Yuzhong knitted his eyebrows hearing her speak in English not because he couldn't understand her but because it was unusual for anyone to talk in English at their school.
They had English as one of the major subjects and even the rule was set up by school authorities in which all the students were advised to use English to converse with each other to increase their fluency but no one in the high school ever bothered with that rule as they simply loved conversing in their native language.
Moreover, a very special gang of back-benchers in their school were also there who used to make sure that no one was following that rule. They were known to select a few students every year from the newcomer's class who were responsible for informing them about the students speaking in English.
And if someone was ever caught talking in English by them, that person was turned into a permanent target of their fun and bullying till the last day of school. The only exception were always the international students.
But watching the girl's features...she was Chinese from every angle.
Thinking she was speaking in English because of that rule, he was going to inform her that she should ignore that rule but held himself back.
He was again going to do something which was unlike him. It was not that newcomers were not informed about this thing by seniors on the very first day of school. She should also know about it.
He nodded slowly to her apology and checked the time on his wristwatch, "I think it should be fine to go now. All the teachers would be back to their offices."
"Oh...Okay then."
The girl walked towards the door but paused when she saw him leaning against it. She searched his eyes to find him gazing intently up at the sky. Parting her lips, she was about to tell him to get aside but closed it back as her eyes instinctively shot to the sky.
The sky was filled with a mixture of blue and orange colours where big white birds were flying in flock towards their destination. All the birds moving in a flock were flopping their feathers at the same time thus arising as a family flying together.
Both of them kept standing there like that for a long time looking intently at the beautiful sky. Somethings without any particular reason just bring a soothing feeling to the heart and mind and that was what these two youngsters, who were at the start of their youth, feeling right now.
Averting her bright eyes from the sky to look at him, she felt the boy accompanying her was just too...handsome. Taking in a sharp breath she recalled the feeling that crept down her nerves when he had replaced her wrist to tightly held her hands earlier.
Unconsciously, a small smile fluttered on her lips which shrank back as soon as it appeared realising the time. Watching the light in the sky that has grown duller she thought about her cousin who would be hell sick worried about her on not finding her in the car already.
But this young man was blocking the door. How to tell him to get aside while he was so engrossed in some other thing?
Somehow gathering her will she spoke out the words, "Umm...the door. Could you please get aside from the front of it? I need to reach the parking lot soon..."
Lin Yuzhong who was mesmerised by the sky that was as pretty as a picture impulsively spun his head on hearing her voice and let out a little utter, "Uh?"
His subconscious mind heard her speaking but did not make out what she said because his whole attention was fixed on the sky.
