Chapter 2

“Ambrosia, you need to pull out the lightning bolt. You’re the only one strong enough to do it besides your father. Hurry.” I jumped up as if a fire was lit underneath me and grabbed hold of the bolt. A shock was sent thru me. I yanked as hard as I could and Uncle fell to the ground. I couldn’t let go of the bolt; the light was illuminating off my face as if I was holding a flash light under my chin at a camp fire. Uncles eyes went cosmic and he started speaking in Ancient Greek. ας δούμε την αλήθεια. (Let her see the truth).

My head fell back, I could feel all my powers at once, the power of the bolt made this possible. the mist of the ocean on my face, the raw electric energy from the skies, the feel of all the souls of the living beings that surrounded us in every Realm and the dead in the underworld. It was as if my uncle was trying to warn me of something, but before I could understand him, I was thrown into my fathers’ past memories.

*Flashback within Ambrosias Flashback* *Zeus Perspective*

“Hera, my darling, how are you feeling?” Zeus asked as he kissed his wife. She glowed with a light that even a blind man could see. “Oh, my love I am just wonderful. Our daughter is being extremely active today.” Hera crooned. “Well of course!” Zeus laughed. “Taking after her old man already!” “Oh stop it now, she hasn’t even been born, let her have a few more months of growing before she decides to start acting like you!” Hera giggled. “Now what on Olympus do you mean woman, I am a God, Saintly. No shenanigans here.” He teased. “You must be thinking of my other devilishly handsome partner in crime Hades.” A sadness overcame Hera. “My love, what is it?” Questioned Zeus. “It’s just, I, Zeus. You know.” Hera wept. She laid on the bed holding her very pregnant belly. She couldn’t make eye contact with her husband. She missed her best friend. They’ve been thru everything together. Built Kingdoms and Realms. Discovered new places. Centuries of memories together, ruined. All because of her marriage and pregnancy. One tear slipped from Olympus and hit the Mortal Realm. “Hera, darling” Zeus whispered, “Hades loves you. He just needs time to adjust.” She looked at her husband with eyes full of questions. But only one would answer them all. “Please” Hera begged, “tell me, which Realm has Hades gone to? I need to see him before our daughter is born.” “You know I can’t tell you that.” Zeus said. “But, but, but Zeus, THAT’S ENOUGH HERA!” Thundered Zeus. “I SAID NO! NOW DROP IT!” Hera let one more tear hit the Mortal Realm. She got up, wiped her eyes, straightened her crown and fluffed her dress, she looked her husband dead in the eyes and told him, if you won’t help me find Hades, Then I will find him myself. She turned on her heel and stormed out of their study.

Zeus called upon his brother Poseidon, but at that moment, little did Zeus know his wife had caused a literal hell on Earth to keep Poseidon busy. Knowing he wouldn’t be paying attention to the skies, Hera let a few of her tears slip, which is now causing Hurricanes, Tsunamis, Earthquakes and Volcanic Eruptions. She knew exactly how to draw Hades out of where ever the hell he was. No matter what supernatural realm he was in, he could never neglect the mortals.

I paced around the place, wondering where my wife had gone. She normally takes a guard with her or at least leaves a note. I went back to our study and sat were my wife laid crying. I couldn’t help but think out loud now that I was by myself. “Oh, my dear wife, I wish I could tell you were we put Hades, but we swore we wouldn’t tell a soul. Not even you. I want to, I hate to see you suffer. But it was important, imperative you don’t remember what happened. All you would do is worry and try to find him if I told you the real truth behind Hades disappearance. Knowing you, you would try to find him. You’re so strong and brave but your so damn stubborn you just don’t know when to leave well enough alone.” I laid my head on the pillow just to smell her scent. Confused I felt the pillow, she was crying why isn’t the pillow wet? I flipped it over, praying she didn’t do what I thought she had done. I cannot deal with another Pompeii, I refuse. So many innocents lost that day due to my negligence. Fuck. It wasn’t wet… I yelled for my guard Eric, the strongest, fastest, best of the elite. He is who I called when I couldn’t find my Hera. Best damn tracker I’ve come across in my 3000 years.

“Your highness? You called?” Said Eric. “Yes! Eric, please come in. I need you to do something for me my boy. I need you to find Hera. She left without telling anyone and I have reason to believe she may have let her tears slip into the Mortal Realm. I don’t need to remind you how dangerous that is for us.” I said. Eric’s face scrunched up. He is the only one I was able to save from Pompeii. This is something that will be personal for him. I know he will do a prompt and efficient job. “Yes Sir, I am on it. Give me 10 minutes.” He said. He bowed, turned and hastily got on with his task. I paced around the study for what seems like hours. Thinking the worst. She’s carrying my child; I don’t know if I could ever forgive her if she harmed my Ambrosia. That baby is going to be a special child. My only daughter. I grabbed a tissue just as Eric came back, I deftly wiped the tears and cleared my throat. “What did you find out my boy?” I said. “Your majesty, (he kept his head bowed as he spoke to me, and spoke with a small voice which is unusual for him) The queen is in the Mortal Realm.”

................................................................................................

Hmm, that’s unusual but why? “Um, sir, so is Hades.” He stammered.

SHIT!!! Panic mode set it. SHE CANNOT FIND OUT!!! SHE CANNOT FIND HADES!!!

Once I figured out what my wife was up to, I rushed straight to the Mortal Realm. I had to warn Poseidon and find Hades. I knew my baby brother would be dealing with his ocean dilemma and I knew my oldest brother would be heading straight for Washington. Playing right into my wife’s dirty trick. I swear, that woman would kill all the mortals by letting the oceans swallow up the earth and set it ablaze by erupting the volcanoes, just to find Hades.

Meanwhile in the Mortal Realm, Poseidon was swimming with his pack, an elite group of merfolk that guard the seas while he was away tending to business and helping him fight his battles. They were headed to their meeting with Hades at the Port of Vancouver when Heras tear hit the ocean. “What the hell!” Poseidon yelled as was knocked half way into the depths of the ocean. 200 ft waves forming, wind gusts of 150-200 mph picking up and the skies started turning black. Lightening was flashing in every direction. The ocean started to swirl like a tornado. The plates in the ocean shifting, earthquakes hitting the shores of Oregon and Washington. Mt. St Helens and Mt. Hood were the most dangerous volcanoes in history. This isn’t good. We can’t have these erupting. We don’t have the time to evacuate all these mortals! “HADES!!!! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU BROTHER!!!” I thundered. I hear my baby brothers cry for help. I’m at the shore in a flash. “Get all your people as far away as possible” I screamed out to my brother and his trusted mate Azrael. At least we could attempt to save our kind I thought to myself.

“Hades is going to be furious brother!” Yelled Poseidon. “I know.” I told him as softly as I could. I hated when he felt defeated and thought our brother would be mad at him. I’d take the blame for this one. After all it is my wife who caused this. “This isn’t your fault baby brother! You did well! Now go! Your king commands you! Get your people to safety!” I commanded him with a soft but firm voice. Poseidon bowed his head, I always hated pulling rank but if I didn’t, he would never go. “Zeus!” I heard Poseidon yell, I turned around, just about to yell at him for disobeying a direct order when he said “You need to get that wife of yours though, she’s headed straight for Mt. St. Helens. I see why she let her tears loose on the Mortal Realm now. She’s drawing the dark one out of hiding. I’ll clean this mess up, go handle that!” He yelled. I rolled my eyes at his ridiculous poorly worded but accurate statement. Hell, what am I going to do with this woman? The ground beneath me shook hard. It was only a matter of time before it cracked Mt. St Helens. I ran as fast as possible; we cannot have another Pompeii I thought. I’m hoping Hades is at this one and not at Mt. Hood. Shit. “HERA!” I yelled. Hoping she would hear me. I just need a small scent or to hear a faint whisper so I can transport to her. “HERA!” I thundered, shaking the trees around me. I caught her scent and I was off. “Hera! What on Olympus have you done!!! Are you trying to make sure Hades never speaks to you again? If a single mortal dies today you can bet your ass he won’t.” A frown washed over my wife’s already defeated face. “Zeus. I need to see him! You wouldn’t understand!” She cried

“But maybe I do, Love.” Hades whispered

Hera whipped around and gasped throwing her hands up to her face. “HADES! Where the hell have you been? I’ve missed you, why did you leave me? You promised you would never do this to me and then in my hour of need you just up and leave!” She screamed

“Hera, love, please calm down. You’re going to upset our child. She’s special and cannot be under such stress while growing. I’ve been off getting answers” Hera interrupted Hades explanation. “excuse me did you just say OUR CHILD!?” Hera cried. “Well of course love, who’s child do you think you’re carrying? She is mostly you and I but she does have some of Zeus’s DNA as well.” Hades said. Hera fainted. “Now, Brother, what did you do to her, and why does she not remember?” Hades calmly questioned. “Screw you Hades, you were never supposed to make it back from that trip to the fates!” I sneered. “I promise, I will get you back for this. On my life, Ambrosia will never know you’re her father!”

*End of Flashback*

*Present Day* *Ambrosia Prospective*

As I lay at my Uncles feet, dazed by what I just heard. “Is it true?” I whispered. “Are you really my father?” Uncle did his best to reply, but he was weak. “Yes, my darling, You are mine, but you are also your fathers as well. It has never been reported before. You’re the first of your kind. This is why it has been kept a secret. The fates were going to tell me that it was time you were told and that is why your father wanted to settle the score.” “So, who am I more of? Obviously, I have to carry more of some one’s genes, right?” I asked. “You have more of me than your mother and father combined. So, your half hades, ¼ your mother and ¼ Zeus. We aren’t sure why you’re more like me. I assume that’s why your necromancer side is strongest and your hair turns that blue like mine when we use our powers. But yours intensifies since you have the power of Zeus in you. Which makes you a threat to your father. He doesn’t want you to know any of this.” He said weakly. “Uncle, Dad, I don’t know what I’m supposed to call you now but please let me heal you. I can’t lose you!” I exclaimed. “Ambrosia, my love, you can call me whatever you are comfortable with. I would prefer Dad, I have been waiting 17 years to hear you call me that, but I will be patient. I know it’s shocking news. Yes, please help me heal, your father was an ass for putting his bolt through my body. He knows he’s never supposed to do that.” Hades said. “I could actually die, but he wouldn’t mind. I promise to tell you everything that happened between your father, mother and I. After I rest.” “Of course, dad.” I said. Though it came out more excited than it was supposed to. The look in Hades eyes when I called him dad was one of pride and joy. Pure happiness. Unlike when I called Zeus dad. He never liked that, he always made me call him father. Which stung, it always made me feel unloved, which now explains it. He never did love me. He just didn’t want me to over throw him. Ugh, what an ass. I turned my attention back to my dad and said “Now this is probably going to hurt a little bit, so please try not to move. It won’t take but a minute.” I moved my hands over his sternum, allowing my eyes to go cosmic, feeling the electricity build up in my veins. I slightly moved my right hand counter clockwise as light beamed from my palms, the whites of my eyes looking like the cosmos and my irises are a dark purple. “Look into my eyes my dear Aidoneus, Hades, The King of the Underworld, Keeper of the Dead, Ruler of Wealth, Father of Ambrosia, I grant you life! I bind you with your first born, you will now share powers, I will make you both strong, Immortal, but you know your weakness, so stay away from Hera! She will be your undoing. She will be the cause of death, Heed my warning little one! Ambrosia’s pain will be your pain, her success will be yours as well, but be it know my little one, shall death fall upon you, death will fall upon her!” I sealed up his wound with two swift counter clock wise movements of my hands and the light disappeared.
