Deep Within The Trench

"Considering my luck, whoever made this hole is probably beyond this gate and waiting for me."

Either way, I have no choice but to follow this path if I want to get out of this ditch.

Before leaving the ditch, I need to rest and recover the strength that I lost from trying to open the gate. I also decide to eat all my remaining food and water while resting to recover from hunger.

I don't know how long it will take for me to find the exit at the end of the trench or if that exit indeed exists. But since those damn lunatics put a gate at this place, the chance of the exit being real is much higher than none.

Not unless this gate serves the purpose of keeping the creature that made this hole from entering the ditch.

"Well, I'm gonna find out that once I went deep within the trench."

After resting for about an hour, I finally made my move beyond the gate.

Compared to the ditch that is still receiving some light from the torch placed above the cliff, the place with the trench is in complete darkness.

However, my eyes have already adjusted and are able to recognize the deepness of the dark and the hidden layout of the surroundings.

The deepness of darkness in the ground of the trench indicates how uneven the floor I'm currently walking.

It is not like I'm walking barefoot. As I circle around the perimeter of the ditch earlier, I somehow managed to find some boots that fit my feet which are probably not a pair and were previously owned by other human sacrifices. But still, stepping on some uneven stone hurts my feet and makes me stumble and fall.

I know that is dangerous to travel in that kind of pathway so I'm moving near the wall of the trench to guide and support myself.

Anyway, the condition of my surroundings is not the main problem. Some creature is following me or more accurate to say...

"So you are already here to hunt me."

...SCREECHHH!!!...

"Arghhh!..."

Something is biting my left leg.

I immediately draw my dagger with my right arm and stab the darkness which still trying to pull my left leg.

...Screechhh...

After pulling my dagger and stabbing it again, I felt something hot being sprayed on my skin as the sound coming from that darkness disappeared.

"Isn't this situation kinda bad, right?"

I'm not actually talking to myself, it is more like I'm mocking myself and looking for those in the darkness to agree with me.

It is because aside from my blood dripping from the shallow wound of my left leg the blood of whatever creature that attacked me has been sprayed on me.

"I already have been marked by the smell of blood! So why don't you all start coming after me? I will kill all of you one by one!"

"Die, you darkness bastard!"

...Screechhh...

I was a bit frustrated after that darkness creature wounded my left leg and I said that I would kill them one by one, but I didn't actually think that they would come at me one at a time.

Well, I would probably be dead if they attacked me all at once so I should be thankful for my current situation. But still, being bitten one at a time at every different part of my body really hurts.

...SCREECHHH!!!...

"Just shut up and die!"

...Screechhh...

I'm trying to kill them immediately with the dagger in my right hand and the knife in my left hand, stabbing the darkness creature with both of my weapons at the same time.

However, no matter how fast I react to their bites, my body still keeps on getting wounded...

...Thud!...

Out of nowhere I suddenly felt weak on my knees and fell kneeling on the ground.

"Huff!... Huff!... Huff!..."

My breathing is also starting to get worse.

"You, darkness bastards!... Don't tell me you have poison on your bite... Huff!... Huff!... Huff!..."

I already lost count of how many darkness creatures I have killed.

After getting poisoned, probably, I still managed to stand and continue moving forward while clinging to the wall of the trench.

I'm still being attacked one at a time and all I can do is endure the pain while the darkness creatures continue their attack and bite me all over my body.

I can't even remember how long since they started their first attack. All I can remember is that I need to escape this place and survive.

Just keep enduring the pain.

Just keep on killing them every time they bite.

Just keep moving forward.

What happened? Did I pass out for a brief moment? And are those voices only my hallucinations?
