Morning Bliss

Chapter 16 :

The sun rose over the Shaw household, casting a warm glow over the small family of five as they went about their morning routine. Elizabeth stirred in her bed, the soft rays of light gently warming her face. She stretched and yawned, eager to start her day. Downstairs, she could hear the familiar sounds of her family getting ready for the day ahead.

She got out of bed and made her way downstairs, where she found her mother, Soledad, bustling around the kitchen, preparing breakfast with Emily helping her mother, in setting the table .

"Good morning, Lizzie," her mother greeted her with a warm smile. "Would you mind helping me with the breakfast? Your father and siblings are hungry."

"Of course, Mom," Elizabeth replied, tying her apron around her waist and joining her mother in the kitchen. Together, they cooked a hearty breakfast of pancakes and scrambled eggs, the delicious aroma filling the kitchen. She tied her long, chestnut hair back and slipped into her simple yet elegant dress, ready to face the day ahead.

" What's for breakfast Mother ??" Nathan asked while rubbing the sleep from his eyes,

"Darling come give mum a hug " Soledad called her son while he walks sleepily to his mom for a hug, " we are having your favorite"

With adorable wide awake eye now Nathan looked at his mom and exclaimed" pancakes??"with slight chuckle Soledad said" yes Emily go wash ur brother for breakfast" and with a swing Emily took Nathan causing a loud gasp followed by laugher from Nathan.

As they ate, the family chatted about their plans for the day. Elizabeth mentioned her intention to sell flowers in the market, a task she undertook daily to contribute to the family's income. Her father, proud of her diligence, nodded in approval, while Emily and Nathan listened eagerly, already planning their own adventures for the day.

After breakfast,Elizabeth made her way to the door, her father called out to her. "Don't forget to take your basket, Lizzy," he said, referring to the basket she used to carry the flowers she would sell at the market.

Elizabeth nodded, grabbing her basket and heading out the door. She took a deep breath, inhaling the fresh morning air. The town was already bustling with activity, the sounds of people going about their daily lives filling the air.

As she made her way to the market, Elizabeth spotted her best friend, Tilda, waiting for her at their usual meeting spot. Tilda waved excitedly as Elizabeth approached, a mischievous twinkle in her eye.

"Morning, Lizzy!" Tilda exclaimed. "Off to collect more flowers to sell, I see."

Elizabeth chuckled, knowing full well what was coming next. "Yes, Tilda. Someone has to keep this family fed," she replied playfully.

As they made their way to the flower fields, Tilda couldn't help but tease Elizabeth about her secret admirer, Benjamin. "I saw him looking at you again yesterday, you know," Tilda said with a grin.

Elizabeth felt her cheeks flush at the mention of Benjamin. She had admired him from afar for so long, never daring to hope that he might feel the same way.

Before she could reply, however, a voice called out to her from behind. "Elizabeth! Wait up!"

She turned to see Benjamin hurrying towards her, a smile on his face. "I was hoping I'd catch you before you left," he said, slightly out of breath.

Elizabeth's heart skipped a beat. Could this be the moment she had been waiting for?
