A Lab Where Flesh Turns to Words pt. 2

"Under? I don't see any way we can get under…

All of us looked around to see where's this door Revian's told us. But the whole field is as flat as a rock.

"Is it in one of the pens?" Chiya asked.

"You know… we could just ask the Living Corpses."

Hada reminded us of this option, although he probably should've done that from the moment we entered this barn.

"Go for it then, brother," I said, taking his offer.

"Aight." Hada then walked back to the gate where the two Living Corpses guard.

To be honest, he only need to tell them what he wanted, even by shouting from the middle of the field. The Living Corpse is nothing more than a puppet that works on command spoken in Unity, we don't need manners nor being on their sight to get them running.

"Maaf pak, boleh tolong bukain jalan ke bawah gak? (Excuse me sir, can you please open a way to get under?)" Hada requested their assistance.

One of the Living Corpses immediately responded to him and left his post to walk toward the 7th pen from the gate. That pen is whether empty, or the animal living there is somewhat short since we don't see anything behind that pen's solid fence.

He proceeded to enter and create a movement of someone pulling a lever. Then, the ground started to tremble.

"Everyone move out of the field!" Revian screamed, and so we follow his words.

Suddenly, the ground opened itself like a sliding door. A huge platform in a shade of grey popped out, replacing the dirt with hard steel.

I looked at the Living Corpse who called the way for us, and he just stood there, like a statue, as if waiting for us to do something or give him a command.

"Yep… this is totally big enough even for those giants we saw," Hada commented.

"Do we need to… get on it?" Hazana looked a bit scared. Can't blame her, that platform did look ominous.

"The night is too dark already, let's just do what seems logical, I don't wanna get ambushed by some unknown projectile like cannonballs or some giant rock." As I said this, everyone nodded in agreement.

The eight of us continued to walk onto the platform while looking in the direction of where the gate is. Hada then told the Living Corpse we are ready, and he once again created a movement of someone pulling a lever.

After he did so, the platform slowly descend with all of us on it. When a certain height pass, the field went back to close its way, and the whole place was shrouded in darkness.

"Stay close everyone."

It didn't take long until the platform completely stops, and as soon as it did, hundreds of lights started to shine brightly, showing us the magical view of the underground laboratory.

"This looks… advance."

Everything here is bloody clean. There's light flickering all over the place… I think that's what they called 'high-tech machinery' in the books I read from the Shattered World.

Although the place where we stood right now didn't seem to be the whole lab. It's just an exhibit for new test subjects that were brought here from the outside. I didn't see any of those laboratory thingies like becker glass and its friends here.

"I saw a door over there but I don't think Revian and Althea can pass through…" Said Anna, pointing at a steel door at the wall of this circular room.

As she said, the door won't fit for the two dragons to pass through. It clearly tends to be used by His Holiness only, as it was somewhat short, even for normal-sized humans like us.

"Well… at least they are both safe here inside the lab." They don't need to be right with us anyway to help us find the ratna. "Use your device to tell us the location okay? The rest, let's go through the door."

"Understood."

"On it!"

"After you, Your Highness."

As I suggested, the six of us began walking through the door. Much to our surprise, nothing stopped us to open it, not a single lock was used in holding the door from being used from inside the room we're in.

"Do you guys think the God of Death considered the Taanji to be too stupid to know how to open a door?"

Chiya coming with a somewhat controversial question.

"I doubt it, even a horse can open a latched door, there's must be a mechanism which allowed us as a Guild member to easily used the door here," Hada replied.

I kind of agreed with him on this. His Holiness is extremely smart, maybe even smartest being on this New World. He must have a way to sort and recognize which and who opened the door.

"Anyway, let's just go and find the objective."

The door we opened leads to a staircase. On its end is the rest of the laboratory, complete with all the science shits I saw in a Vhisawi's lab.

There are also a lot of things I have never seen before, maybe some technology from the Shattered world, or just things that He made from scratch based on his understanding of science.

"Don't touch anything, laboratory can be extremely potent if we're not careful and ignorant." Said Hada, warning us about the danger of this unknown facility.

"Revian, Althea, can you hear me?" I said through my team channel on the communication device.

"Loud and clear, Your Highness," Althea replied cheerfully with her adorable deep voice.

"Good. By the way… can you guys sense color? Cause I bet there'll be a lot of ratna in this facility."

Yeah… I can already see those shiny gemstones all over the place. To make it worst, some of the tools and devices seem to be attached to a couple of ratnas.

"In case of color, our senses are highly limited, Your Highness. We cannot go into details like the White Horn. If it's only on the basis like red, blue, yellow, and stuff, then we can sense it." Althea explained, she sounded kinda disappointed.

"Then guide us to all the red-ish ratna you both found. We have all night to ourselves."

"Roger that, Your Highness."
