Chapter 8: Mate

Lucky's POV:

We walked to the gym and saw the girls. The were headed to the locker rooms to change. So were we. We walked into the locker room and this is where my struggles begin. Surrounded by nothing but sexy guys in towels and sweatpants. For gay guys and bi guys, this is hell. Though the only guy I really stare at is Marcus. He doesn't mind as long as I don't touch him. Better said than done. We finished changing and walked out to the gym room. We were with the girls today.

"Alright class listen up." Coach said. Coach and the girls' teacher talked about how we were gonna run laps inside because it was raining out. "Now first we're gonna-" Coach was cut off by the doors opening. "Hey Coach. Sorry to interrupt but we got three new students joining this class." The assistant principal said, as she approached us. The smell of vanilla filled the air. "Damn." Marcus whispered, as the three new students made their way over to us. I looked at them. One was a boy, one was a girl with semi pink hair. The last one was beautiful. She had purple, curly hair and was a beauty. Mate. Mate. Whoa. Who is that? "Oh. Who might these three be?" Coach asked. "These are you guys' new students." The assistant principal said. She pointed them out to us. "This is Trey Starlight, Keisha Starlight, and Angel Starlight." She said. Angel. Such a beautiful name.

"Oh. Well nice to meet you. I hope you kids got a change of clothes, because we're gonna be running laps inside today." The girls' gym teacher, Hailey, said. "I got that taken care of." Kacey said, as she hopped up and walked over to my mate. She looked her arm through hers. Out of nowhere, I felt a sting of jealousy towards Kacey. Why am I getting jealous? "Kacey. You know these kids?" Coach asked. "Yes sir. This is my best friend and these are her siblings. Don't worry. Their lovable." Kacey said, excitedly. Angel smiled and leaned her head on her shoulder. My jealousy grew. "Okay. Then. Go get changed ladies." Hailey said. I watched as Kacey took Keisha and Angel to the girls locker room. I stared at Angel, as she walked away. Her body was phenomenal. Her curves were beautiful.

Her ass, her hips, her small waist, her curly purple hair. I bit my lip. "Stay harder why don't ya?" Someone said. The new kid, Trey, stepped in front of me. He was scary looking up close. His tattoos stuck out on his light skin. "Hello? Can you talk?" He asked. I stayed silent. "Trey, stop." Aaliyah said. He looked at her. "What? He all up in my sister's ass." He said, glaring at me. Aaliyah and Meghan laughed. "Boy yo overprotective ass. Go change." Meghan said. Trey glared at me one more time before walking off. I looked around. Everyone stared at me. I got embarrassed. Marcus put his arm around me to comfort me but the damage had been done. Keisha and Angel and Kacey came back. Keisha and Angel sat next to Kacey. Aaliyah and Meghan talked to them. I got jealous again. Trey came back over and sat near the girls.

Coach said we were gonna stretch then run. I stretched with Marcus. I watched Angel the whole time. "Go talk to her." Marcus said. I looked at him. "Man hell no." I said. "Man don't do that now. I seen you staring her down earlier." He said. I frowned at him. "Like you weren't doing the same with Keisha." I said. He froze. "What about me?" Asked a voice. I froze too. I slowly turned around to see Keisha standing behind me. "What happened?" She asked, as she crouched down in front of me. "Keisha leave him alone. I'm sure he didn't say anything bad about you." Angel said. I looked at her. She came over and got her sister. "Nah I wanna know. What about me?" She asked. "Probably talking about you. This nigga over here was staring at Angel's ass as she walked away." Trey said, coming to me.

Angel looked at me. I grew embarrassed. "Trey chill. I'm sure Lucky didn't mean anything by it." Meghan said. "Lucky?" Keisha repeated. "What kind of name is that?" Trey asked. Everyone looked at me. "It's uh, my name." I said. "What kind of it though? What, you bring good luck or something?" Trey asked. "No. I said. "Is that a nick name?" Angel asked. "No. It's my real name." I said. They stared at me. "Yo mama must've been tripping when she named you." Trey said. I growled and stood up. "Okay one thing you not gon do is talk about my Mom." I said, angrily. He got in my face but I wasn't gonna back down. "Or what?" He asked. "Trey don't. We're not gonna get suspended on the first day of school." Angel said. "Hey hey hey." Coach said.

He made his way over to us. "Is there a problem here gents?" He asked. "No Coach. Trey and Lucky just had a a disagreement but it's all good now." Marcus said, getting between us. Coach made a face and walked away. "Alright everyone. Ten laps, let's go." He said, as he blew his whistle. Marcus gave me a look as he took off. Everyone else did too. I looked at Angel. She stared at me before shaking her head and running off. Nice one. It's not my fault. He started it. You almost fought our mate's brother. He started it. "Lucky, I don't see you running." Coach said. I took off. We ran around the gym til we took a break. I was tired and got. I walked out to the hallway and up to the water fountain. I drunk some water and turned around to leave, only to see Angel coming out the door. "I will Keisha damn." She said. She froze when she saw me. We stared at each other.

It was kinda awkward. "Hi." She said, after a moment. "Hi." I said. "Look, I'm....I'm sorry about my brother. He's just-" I cut her off. "Don't worry about it." I said, as I walked past her. I walked in the door, only to pause. I heard the water fountain turn on. I peeked out the door and stared at her. Seeing her bent over the water fountain made me bite my lip. She took long, slurps of water. Hot damn Angel. She began to turn around but I was too late to move. She saw me. "Hey listen, um....about what your brother said earlier..." I trailed off. She stared at me with pretty brown eyes. "Hey. Don't worry about it." She said, repeating my words. She walked past me, back into the gym. Her small frame grazing mine just a bit. Her scent of vanilla hit me hard. I watched her, as she made her way over to Meghan and Aaliyah.

I walked over to Kacey, who was talking to Keisha. "Kacey, a word?" I said. She looked at me. "I'll be a minute." She said, to Keisha. I pulled her over near the bleachers. "What's up?" She asked. "How do I get Angel's attention?" I asked, curiously. She furrowed her brows. "Thought you didn't want a mate?" She asked. "I don't. I just..." I stammered. I sighed. "Look, maybe I changed my mind. Can you help me make things right with Trey? I don't want to be on his bad side. What is he by the way?" I asked, curiously. "He's a werewolf and Keisha is a Devil Dog." She said. "And Angel?" I asked. She looked at me. "A human." She said. I gasped loudly, drawing attention. Kacey hit me. "Shut up. Don't tell anyone else." She said.

"The Magic Council brought a human into our school!?" I said. "Yes. Look, there's gonna be an assembly about it tomorrow. Don't tell no one else. Besides, the Magic Council thinks she's good enough to be here." She said. The we heard a whistle. "Alright, give us eight more laps, then class is over." Hailey said. Kacey ran off over to Trey, who was talking to a girl. Kacey said something and it made him look over at me. He didn't look angry, not okay. He said something then took off running. "Dude." Marcus said, making me jump. "Geez Marcus." I said, as I started jogging alongside him. "What you do with Angel in the hallway?" He asked. "Nothing." I said. "Come on man. Tell me." He said. "Really. Nothing. We talked for a minute then came back inside." I said.

"And you and Kacey?" He asked. "I may or may not have asked her to help me out with Trey." I said. "Oh so Trey's your mate?" He asked. "What? No. He's sexy and all but no. I just wanna get on good terms with him. Can't have my mate thinking I'm some douche." I said. He paused. "Your mate? Now your on the mate side?" He said. I glared at him and ran off. We finally finished our laps and went back to try locker room to change. I changed into my clothes and waited for Marcus outside. On my way out, I walked past Trey. He was changing. Oh my Jesus. He looked at me. "Fuck is you looking at!?" He asked. "Nothing." I said, as I walked outside. He hates me. Any brother would if they caught some dude staring at their sister's ass. She's my mate. I do what I want with my mate. No one tells me shit.

I pushed open the doors and sat down next to a vending machine. I heard footsteps and voices coming near me. "Like totally." Meghan said. I looked towards her. She was with the girls, including Angel and Keisha. "Well I don't think so. I mean if I saw that, I wouldn't know what to do." Angel said. "That's cause your too nice." Keisha said. They all paused when they seen me. "Yo Lucky!!!" Aaliyah yelled, as she ran up to me. "Hey." I said. "Uh Uh, what's wrong with you?" She asked. I shook my head. "No. Someone messed with him. Nobody messes with our friend." Meghan said. "Guys just leave it." I said. Marcus came out. "Lucky, there you are." He said. I stood up. Then Trey came out. He glared at me. "Gay ass nigga." He said.

"Whoa hold up. Trey, did you mess with Lucky?" Aaliyah asked. "I yelled at him." He said. "What for?" Angel asked in a sweet voice. "He was staring at em while I was changing clothes." Trey said. "So? He's bi. Maybe he finds you attractive. No need to bite his head off." Kacey said. They all looked at me. "Wait your bi?" Keisha asked. I nodded. "Marcus lets go. I wanna go home." I said, as I picked up my bag and walked out the school. Marcus followed behind me. We walked over to the parking lot. "Wow. He does not like you." He said. "I don't give a fuck. So I stared at him. Why is he so damn aggressive towards me?" I asked. "I don't know but you right. He don't have to be this mean to you. All you did was look at him." He said. We got to our cars and I stopped.

I then punch my car. The alarm went off but I shut it off. "Calm down Lucky." He said. "No. I did nothing wrong and he hates me for no reason. I stared at Angel's ass. So what? You stared at Keisha's ass and he didn't say anything to you." I said. I shook my head and got in the car. "Want me to come over?" He asked. I shook my head. "Nah. I don't want to take my anger out on you." I said. "Okay. Later man." He said. Before he left, he gave me two sticks of Now-or-Laters. He ran off to his car and drove off. I sighed and started my car up. I looked over to see Angel and them coming out. She looked pissed. She ran to her car and got in. She said something then sped off. Her. Car left tire marks behind. What's she mad about? I wanted to follow her but I didn't want her to think I'm a stalker.

I drove off and to my house. I pulled up and got out. I walked inside and up to my room. "Whoa whoa. You can't say hi?" Dad asked. "Hey Dad." I said, as I continued walking upstairs. "Son come here." He said. I sighed and came back down. I sat on the steps. "What's up?" He asked. I sighed. "We got new students at school and one of them already hates me." I said. "What you do?" He asked. "I...found my mate. I stared at her butt as she walked away and he saw me and he snapped at me. He's her brother. Then, as we changed it go home, he saw me staring at his body and snapped at me again." I said. Mom came up to me wiped my face. I didn't realize I was crying. "It's okay baby." She said. I hugged her. "Was I in the wrong?" I asked.

"No sweetie. Maybe this boy is just protective of his sister." She said. "The other student was a girl. Both girls are his sisters. Marcus's mate is the other one. He stared at her butt but Trey didn't say anything to him." I said. "Is that his name?" Mom asked. I nodded. "I asked Kacey to help me get myself off his bad side but I guessed that's out of the question." I said. "Maybe stay away from this boy. I don't want you getting in trouble because of him." Dad said. "Maybe." I said, as I stood up. I walked downstairs to the door. "Where you going?" Mom asked. "To Light Lake. I just need to be alone right now." I said. I opened the door and over to my car. I thought about getting in but I didn't want to. I transformed into a dragon and flew off. I tried to think about other things but Trey was still on my mind. He's such an ass for no reason.

So I stared at his sister's ass. So what? She's my mate. If I want to stare at her ass, I'm going to. I flew to Light Lake, to discover a car here. Huh? I landed and looked around. Then I caught a whiff of vanilla. Angel. I looked around for her. I walked around til I came to a cave. I walked in and was taken aback by the scenery. Whoa. This'll be the perfect place to go to calm down. I looked around til I saw Angel.

She was sitting down on the ground. I heard her sniffling. Is she crying? My heart broke for her. I walked over to her. Her cries were soft. Still in my dragon form, I nudged her. She turned around and screamed when she saw me. I jumped back and transformed. "Angel its only me." I said. She held her heart. "Oh my God you scared me." She said. "You okay?" I asked. She nodded. "I'm fine." She said. I knew she was lying. "Angel, you were just crying. What's up?" I asked. She sighed. "I didn't like when my brother got mad at you. I'm so sorry for him. He's such an overprotective ass." She said. I nodded. "I didn't mean any harm when I looked at you and him." I said. She looked at me. "Lucky, it's okay. You probably just have a little crush on him." She said, smiling. I made a face. Hell no. "No. Angel, I may be bi, but I'm not interested in your brother. He's cute and all, but nah. He's definitely not my type." I said, crossing my arms.

"Oh. So who do you like?" She asked. I leaned against the wall of the cave and stared at her. Does she not get it? "What?" She asked. I continued to stare at her. "Take a guess love." I said. She looked around confused. "Ummm, Kacey?" She asked. I shook my head. "Meghan?" She said. I shook my head again. This continued on until she got to Marcus. "I mean your bi so maybe you like him." She said. I looked down. "I do." I said, softly. "Well, why don't you ask him out?" She asked. "Angel, he's my best friend. Don't get me wrong, I do find Marcus attractive but I don't think it's gonna go further than being friends." I said. "Well you'll never know if you don't go for it." She said. I stared at her. "Oh Angel." I said.

"What?" She asked. I smiled. "Your so sweet. But no. Me and Marcus are just friends." I said. She nodded. "Besides, he's not my mate." I said. "Who is your mate?" She asked. Tell her. I opened my mouth but her phone went off. She answered it. "Hello....Okay....on my way." She said. "Who was that?" I asked, curiously. "Kacey. She says she needs me right now." She said, as she walked past me. Her vanilla scent drove me wild. I bit my lip. God this girl. "Later Lucky." She said. She paused and looked at me. "Is that really your real name?" She asked, curiously. I nodded. "It's my real name." I said. "Why did your Mom name you that?" She asked. I shrugged. "I don't know." I said. She stared at me then ran out the cave.

I watched her run up to her car. She turned around and looked at me. I ran up to her car. "Aren't you going home?" She asked. I shook my head. "Nah. I needed to chill." I said. "Isn't it dangerous to be out here at night?" She asked. I laughed. "Angel. I'm a dragon. I can take care of myself." I said. She nodded before getting in the car. She drove off, down the road. I wanted to follow her and see where she lives. Not now. But soon.
