Giving The Female Lead A Happy Ending At All Costs To Save My Soul

Katarina had a picture perfect life: everlasting wealth, a loving husband, and everything she could ever want, but it all ended when she caught him and sister in bed together! To top it all, her husband ended up killing her after completely ruining her life. Luckily for her, she was granted a second chance to live. But, there was ONE clause. Katarina woke up in a story, as the main character of the book. In order to leave the story and return to her original life, she has to grant the female lead a happy and satisfying ending no matter what. The story’s female lead’s life was quite pathetic. She was blind, weak and bullied, and her betrothed who she was supposed to get married to, is fucking female lead’s step sister right under female lead’s nose. Katarina didn’t expect this quest to be an easy one, but she also didn’t expect it to be complicated to the extent of people wanting the weak female lead dead. ——— | ——— “Do I look like a fucking baby sitter to you?” He demanded, sounding as outraged as he looked. I let out a frustrated breath, knowing I was in no place to flare up since I’m the one in need right now. “No, your highness, you do not.” “Then why do you keep asking me t–” “Because my life is on the line!” I exclaimed urgently. His eyes narrowed and he scoffed. “What has that got to do with me? Do I look like I care? Cause I promise you that I do not.” “Because you need me, your highness. You know you do, even though you refuse to admit it.” I blurted out. A scowl settled on his handsome face. “Stop saying nonsense, you delusional weirdo.” “We both need each other and that’s the truth, so it’s best I don’t lose my life just yet, don’t you think so?”

Gift Of Sight?

Katarina's POV

With the woman before me, I still pretended to be blind even when I wanted to give her a piece of my mind to stop being a jerk.

"I'm taking Jane here for a walk," the prince said that like I was a handicapped dog.

"Is that right?" She said. "I guess I'll join in then."

"No," he said to her as she was suddenly taken aback by that response.

"No?" She repeated slowly. "Kirigan, what is going on? You barely hang out with me. All you do is hang out with your silly maid. Am I not important enough for you? Are you seriously going to keep treating me like this?"

"What are you talking about? Trina, I just want to take a walk."

She suddenly resigned as she looked at me and then him before backing away slowly.

"Okay, fine," she smiled. "Have a nice walk then."

With that, she started walking away from us.

He turned to me and held my shoulder to get me to move with him but I stood my ground.

"What is it?"

"Maybe this is a terrible idea," I sighed.

"What do you mean? She clearly said we should have a nice walk."

"Can't you read her mood? She was mad." How clueless was this man?

"Do you want us to do it or not? We could decide to stay back and forget about…"

"Let's go," I sighed. Deciding to stop this trip halfway was not going to help anyone.

I needed to get to the bottom of this. I had shown him the letter and he could not tell who had written it.

"How's the cure coming?" He asked as I was suddenly shocked he still remembered my own part of the deal which I had forgotten.

"I'm still… working on it. It's going to take me some time to get anything."

"What do you mean? Your father could finish this in a week. You've been here for a few weeks, almost getting to a month and still don't have any cure. Shouldn't you be trying to find a solution?"

"I could but then again if I rushed the process that would not be good. My father always told me that I needed to do things in a different way from him. The trouble here is that he taught me what he taught me when I was blind. Now I can see, it's hard to keep up with the senses of the other world and I'm trying my best to fit in but it's not working."

"Then you should just ask questions. Of course if you go to the other inns around the city to find healers, once you mention who your father is or was, they would let you go through their inventory."

He was right. How had I not thought of it that way? I took in deep breaths as I decided to do that when I got out of here. But I would need to go with people I trusted.

I had one… the chef. He was a very nice man who had saved me a couple of times from the maids. At least he would not have any trouble with helping me with anything.

I looked around the streets to find it empty as we got to the market square and stood under the statue.

"We were told to stay here and wait so that's what we would do."

We waited for a few minutes before seeing some people show up in the distance as they started for us.

"I'm guessing those three men in cloaks are friends of yours," he said, his hand slowly playing down to the hilt of his sword. Any chance he had and he would pull out his weapon.

With a gulp, I waited for them to come near us.

Trina's POV

I waited for the two of them to leave before trailing them through the night.

I wanted to see what they were up to.

There was no way the two of them could not be romantically involved.

I was going to follow them and find out where they were going and what they were doing.

I followed them to the market square where they engaged in a conversation while I kept my distance.

The market was empty and no one was around. They had all gone home. No guards were present. Just the prince and the blind maid.

I waited for anything to happen while watching how they interacted. If I wasn't so sure of her being blind, I would have said she was looking at the man.

What was going on?

One minute I could tell she was blind by the way she walked and relied on that cane of hers, the next minute, she was going around like a girl who didn't need the cane.

I watched them compose themselves as they looked ahead of them to see three people in cloaks walking towards them.

I instantly knew who these people were. They were assassins in a bar not far from the outskirts of the town.

Anyone they engaged with, they tore to pieces and I didn't want this fight to get out of hand.

I had to save the prince somehow.

Immediately, the cloaked people revealed themselves to be men and rushed to take down the prince.

They fought with him while he tried to defend himself as I looked around for any weapon to actually use on the cloaked men.

I found a long cane which I grabbed and ran out to hit one of them as they all turned to me in shock.

For a split second when I looked into Jane's eyes, I found her staring at me in horror.

The prince immediately swiped his sword around him and grabbed Jane, coming to stand before me.

"What the hell are you doing?!" He yelled, facing the men before him as he used his body to shield us.

"I came to help you," I said before looking at Jane. "And you… I saw you. You can see."
