Chapter 53

Hue eyed her ring finger before gazing at her again. His jade-blue irises gleamed as he raised his left hand, showing his ring to her. It has the same design as hers. “Yes, my love!” he answered honestly. “This is our wedding ring. I was worried somebody would take you from me. So, I had to put a mark on you!” he added delightfully. His mood perked up in the excitement and, he giggled like a happy housewife.

He wondered if Jennet had started to like him? He wondered if she had begun to accept their marriage as newlywed? He wondered if she had started to acknowledge him as her husband? Most importantly, had that homewrecker stayed away from her?

However, his happiness was only temporary. It started to shatter when Jennet told him to take it off her finger. “But, why?” he cried in despair. His heart ached. “You’re mine!”

“I don’t belong to anyone,” Jennet replied bluntly. She exhaled and raised her hand in his direction. “Take it off!” she commanded.
