Ghost God System (Dropped)

*This novel has been dropped Zeph has been a worker at a haunted house for 8 years now. One day, Zeph was hiding in his usual hiding spot where he would jump out and spook people. As he heard steps coming towards him, he got ready to jump out with his scary clown mask and fake chainsaw, but something made him hesitate. The appearance of the approaching group was really sketchy. With scars and tattoos covering every inch of their body, they were obviously not normal people. 'Well, what's the worst that can happen?' Nevertheless, he decided to jump out and scare the gangsters, but this was a decision he would come to regret. After he jumped out of his corner, a tragic incident followed and Zeph found himself in an unknown field surrounded by a lush forest. He was missing his physical body, but could still see, smell and hear. He thought that this was the afterlife and he could finally rest for all eternity, until something rudely interrupted him. [Ghost God System Installation 100%] 'W-what? Ghost God?' [The host can grow stronger by making other organisms feel fear] This is where the story of Zeph, the new God of Ghosts, begins. ------------------------------------------- Author Note: This is my first time writing a novel, so don't expect a masterpiece.. Ghost God System is meant to be practice for me to improve my writing skills, so constructive criticism is heavily appreciated. Chapter Length: ∼1500 Words Update Schedule: Don't expect consistent updates. Like I said, this book is just practice for me to improve my writing skills and could be dropped at any moment. Regardless of all that. I still hope you enjoy reading this little side project of mine. ------------------------------------------- Cover Art made by Nora Potwora, @norapotwora. -------------------------------------------

The Religion Grows

(Zeph's POV)

'Damn, that introduction got me riled up as well..'

I thought while looking at the 60 goblin warriors kneeling in front of me.

'The little goblin really did a good job, I should probably reward him with something later.'

The majority of this plan was thought up by him and his execution was brilliant.

Since he was a goblin himself, it was apparently quite easy for him to understand how to manipulate his own kin.

'Well I shouldn't get too ahead of myself, the plan is not completely over yet..'

While I was lost in my thoughts, the small goblin raised his hand and told everyone to stand up.

The goblin caravan had full trust in him now, since he seemed to be the chosen messenger of the Goblin God.

He opened his mouth and once again a majestic voice flowed out, although this time a touch of sadness seemed to be mixed in as well.

''My fellow goblins! We have suffered under the tyranny of the humans and elves for far too long.. And with the arrival of the great Goblin God, we have a chance to finally fight back and avenge our fallen friends and comrades.''

The usually silent forest quickly erupted into a mix of loud cheers and chest-thumping noises.

Every single goblin there seemed to have some long lost flame get lit in their hearts and eyes again.

The messenger raised his hand again, ordering the group to calm down.

''I know that you are excited for this, obviously so am I, but sadly I have something to inform you about..''

The noise quickly quieted down and once again, the goblins focused their attention on the messenger standing in front of them.

''.. Due to a fight with another supreme being our god has suffered major injuries and hasn't been able to get back his full power yet..''

'This is my queue to leave..'

I slowly deactivated my Gel Body skill on different parts of my body, to really sell the effect of me fading away into nothingness.

After a few moments, my large body had completely disappeared and the onlookers were shocked.

Seeing their shock, the little messenger opened his mouth again to continue his speech.

''But fear not, since this is where we, goblins, come into play..''

Everyone listened closely, they were ready to do everything to help the Goblin God and strengthen the goblin race.

''We must take the first part of our journey without the help of his holiness. This is a test to see if we are even worthy of the Goblin God's blessings.''

A determined look appeared on everyone's faces.

''Every goblin, listen closely, since I am about to reveal the first task his holiness has given us..''

The clearing was as silent as a cemetery, with everyone's full attention on the messenger.

And once again a majestic voice filled the surroundings, this time though, there was no sadness mixed into it, but instead, full determination.

''Everything on this planet, living or nonliving, must realize how much of a threat we, goblins, can really be. And in order to do that we need to make them fear us..''

''...Make it so humans will have nightmares of goblins instead of demons.. Make it so the elves tell their children bedtime stories about our terrifying power, make it so the dwarves shake in their stubby little shoes at the mere mention of our race… In order for all of that to become reality we need to start somewhere.. And that somewhere is right here, this forest..''

The messenger goblin stopped his speech for a second and his gaze glanced over all of the 60 goblins present.

After looking at the faces of everyone here, he opened his mouth again, shouting as loudly as he could.

''We must unite this forest under the Goblin God's name!''

His powerful voice echoed throughout the surroundings and after a few moments, the forest once again erupted into a mix of loud roars and loud chest-thumping noises.

''And after that..''

The messenger shouted again.

''We will take over this continent!''

The powerful cheering got even louder.

''And after that!''

''WE WILL TAKE OVER THIS WORLD!''

The noise levels exploded, reminding me of a jet taking off.

''We will be the owners of every single piece of land this lousy planet has to offer!''

The roaring continued at full power.

''We will rule over every single lifeform!''

''And most importantly..''

''WE WILL HAVE ALL OF THE GOLD IN THE WORLD!''

After hearing the word ''gold'', the goblins somehow managed to get even louder than before.

'Jesus, it feels like I'm inside a volcano eruption..'

Once again, I was impressed by the little goblin's speech skills.

After a few minutes of being at peak motivation, the goblins started to calm down and once again looked at the messenger.

He opened his mouth again.

''We will head back to the village and your job right now is to spread the Goblin God's name and goals to everyone there.''

''We need the help of the entire village to start our holy conquest.''

And with that, the long speech was finally done and the caravan started heading back to where they came from.

I was currently floating behind them, still surprised that something like this had worked.

Beep!

[The Host has gained (60) new followers. You are now able to freely command them until the day you die]

'Finally! Why was it so delayed, I wonder? Oh well, at least it happened now.'

This meant that I now had direct control over a small group of goblin warriors, who could be my bodyguards wherever I wanted to go.

This also reduced the risk of using the Possession skill quite a bit, as they could watch my surroundings for me..

After a while, we finally made it back to the village and the caravan members started instantly converting the villagers to their newfound religion.

[The Host has gained (2) new followers. You are now able to freely command them until the day you die]

'W-wait? That easily? Who would change their beliefs in a split second like that?''

I was perplexed at the naiveness of the villagers, but was also thankful for it.

It was the right idea to try to gain control over this village, instead of scaring the people in it.

After I've become the main god of this village, I will have direct control over a large amount of goblins that could do the scaring for me.

[The Host has gained (3) new followers. You are now able to freely command them until the day you die]

'There's another group..'

While the goblins were busy converting their friends and family, I decided to look around the village.

I made my way to the center where some sort of building seemed to be under construction and upon closer inspection I saw something written on it..

{Goblin God's Temple}

'W-what, they are even making a temple for me? That's cool.. I guess?'

After glancing at the temple, I made my way to my messenger's house.

I floated in and saw him lying on his bed with a satisfied smile on his face

''Phew! That was really stressful, thank god it actually worked.''

The little goblin said while getting ready to roll up another Glitterleaf joint.

'...Smoking that weird thing all day can't be healthy..'

I thought while looking at the strange purple colored plant, currently in the goblin's mouth.

Beep!

[The Host has gained (8) new followers. You are now able to freely command them until the day you die]

'...'

'Oh well, whatever.. He deserves this after all of that hard work.'

I looked at the goblin, who seemed to be in his own little world currently.

'Now that I think about it, most goblins don't have a name right?'

I had been calling my messenger something like ''little one'', ''small goblin'', ''little green creature'' and so on..

'I should bestow him a name, I'm sure that he would be overjoyed..'

This was the reward that I decided to give him, although it was kind of eccentric, I still knew that he would like it.

'Hmm… So what should I name this little green guy?'
