She laughed. “No, I don’t think I will. Let them wonder.”

A woman with three kids walked up to our table and when the boy picked up a package, she slapped his hand and tossed the fudge back on the table. “We’re not a candy eating family,” she said to Gertrude, maybe as a kind of apology. Then she dragged her kids off down the aisle.

Whatever.

“Listen. Tell me something,” Gertrude said.

“Sure.”

“I have to admit all this fussing about with the alphabet confuses me. LGBT. I feel so out of the loop, especially with things moving so fast for people like Phyll and me. I’ve got the L and G. The B is bisexual. Not such a huge leap but what does the “T” stand for again? I can’t remember.”
