Visit back home [15]

I woke up the next morning, she was still in my bed. "Come on, wake up... please...", I muttered helplessly. "Right...", I said while using shadow step to get out of bed. I walked over to the calender. "Right... today is a holiday. Maybe I'll go back to my family for today...", I thought when I felt a presence behind me. "Morning.", Emilia said.

"Morning. By the way, I'll visit my family today.", I stated. "Your family? Can I... come with you?", she questioned. "Come with me? Why? Can't you visit your own family?", I asked. "Since the elven kingdom is so far away, I wouldn't make it there in one day.", she explained. "Ah, I mean, I got nothing against it, if you want you can come I guess.", I noted as I put on my black uniform.

"Yay, thanks. I promise I won't cause trouble.", she declared. "Good. Let's go then.", I replied. We walked out of the school to the capital and looked around for a driver. "Man, nobody drives today...", I groaned as I felt a touch behind me. It was a man that was about 70. "Need to get somewhere?", he asked while having a smile. "Yeah, back home.", I sighed. "I got a carriage, I can get you there if you wish.", he remarked. "Really? That would be great. How much for a ride to village Cathril?", I asked while pulling out my wallet. "20 Silver coins.", he said. It was a bit more than a usual ride but I just wanted to get back to my family. Emilia and I both got into the carriage.

"So? Visiting family, eh? I see you are both kids from the school.", he remarked. "Yeah, that's right.", I said. "He is part of the disciplinary commitee at the school! He is a very strong mage too!", Emilia boasted, I laughed a little and the old man looked quite shocked. "Oh? So you must really be strong. You are a first year student in the disciplinary commitee... interesting.", he noted. The ride went flawless and we arrived at the gates of my village. A few guards stopped us there, both Emilia and I got out of the carriage and thanked the old man who drove off.

"Hello... JIN? IS THAT YOU?", one guard said. "Yeah, hello there.", I said while smiling. "Been a while, hasn't it?", I told the guard. "No need for control. Just go straight in. Great to have ya back, our little prodigy.", he said while chuckling. Emilia followed close behind as villagers greeted us.

After about 30 minutes of walking, we arrived at my house. We saw Evie playing in the garden with my father. I walked up to them, "How's it going?", I said. Both my father and Evie looked at me in shock. Evie quickly ran towards me. "BROTHER!", she screamed out in joy. Emilia smiled. My father walked towards me and gave me a hug. "And who's this? A friend of yours?", he asked. "My name is Emilia, I am his roommate at the school.", she responded.

"What is all this commotion?", my mother said while coming out of the house, she also quickly ran over to me. "Jin... hey... how are you?", she asked. "Great. And you?", I sighed in relief. "Also great... and who's that girl behind you, is she your...", she wanted to continue but I interupted her. "We're just friends. She is my roommate at school.", I quickly said. "And why do you have a black uniform and she has a white one?", she asked. "A lot has happened, can we go inside for now?", I asked. "Of course.", she said while quite literally pushing us inside.

"Tell me everything that has happened.", she quickly said. I explained everything to her. How I had saved Emilia on the first day, how we became friends, how I became a member of the disciplinary committee, the whole cultist situation, just everything that had happened in the past few weeks.

My father and my mother looked shocked while Emilia was playing with Evie. "Jin... I know you try your best... but I don't want to loose you... please... stay away from these cultists... do it for me, Jin.", my father said, my mother agreed with him. "No. I am in the disciplinary committee for a reason, I protect other students, even if it meant I'd die.", I stated proudly. Of course though, I couldn't really die due to the console. My mother and father both looked troubled. "Look. I never once have gotten injured while fighting them... except one time but it really caught me by suprise.", I quickly said.

"Jin. Just know, I am proud of you, becoming a member of the DC in the first school year... not many people have done that, no, I don't think anyone has ever done that.", my father said, my mother agreeing with him again. Emilia spoke out while walking to the kitchen, "Your son is amazing, he saved me and countless other students multiple times already, no, I am most likely only alive because of your son.", she said. My parents lightened up due to this.

"I'm going to cook dinner now. Jin, your sister missed you, maybe play with her a bit.", my mother said. I walked over to Evie. "Mom said you missed me, is that right?", I said while smiling. "Evie missed brother! Brother finnaly back!", she responded with a light laugh.

We spend the whole evening having fun, talking, and connecting. I told them more stories about school, they kept me up to date about what has happened in the village. Later that evening, Emilia and I had to go again. We walked through the village now, the sun was setting.

"Your family is really nice. I can't wait for the next time we meet them.", she remarked. "They really are. I don't know if I could've come this far without them.", I explained. We walked through the street and out through the gate where the old man was still waiting for us. He came back from a trip to a neighboring village to sell something.

"Ready to go back to the capital?", he asked. "Yeah, totally ready.", we said at the same time. The carriage began and we drove through the woods. "I'm really tired... is it okay if I sleep on your shoulder, Jin?", Emilia asked me. "Yeah, I don't mind.", I replied. A few minutes later I also fell asleep. I got woke up by a loud BANG!, the carriage flipped over, I held Emilia tight to protect her from whatever was attacking us.
