Shadow Magic. [5]

Once we arrived back home, my mother had already cooked dinner. My father sat at the table reading the news. Eldrin and I approached the house and knocked on the door as we hadn't taken a key.

My father stood up and opened the door, he smiled at us. "Welcome back!", he exclaimed. I also smiled at him, "Hello, father.", I showed him the books. "Look what we found! Shadow magic and advanced Fire magic!", I told him. My father looked confused, "I get the Shadow magic part, but why Fire magic and also an advanced version?", he asked. Eldrin chimed in, "I also don't quite know yet, but it doesn't really matter, does it?", she answered. Thorin looked at the both of us sceptically but he let the topic go and placed the books on the table.

Eldrin and I also took a seat and my mother brought the food to the table. "And? Will you try some spells today or will you wait until tomorrow?", my mother asked. I pondered for a few seconds, "Perhaps if one spell really interests me, I'll try it out, but for today I guess I'll only read about it." I told her. She smiled, "Okay, but if you do decide to test out a spell, please do it outside. I don't want the whole house blown away again.", she jokingly said. We all had a great laugh.

Later that evening my mother knocked on my room and sat on my bed. "Jin... there is something your father and I have to tell you. I'm pregnant. It's a girl, you're going to be a big brother, Jin.", she told me.

At that moment I was in utter shock. "A sibling? What? But I hadn't designed the story for that? Now that I think about it, all the story elements would still be happening even if I had a sister.", I thought.

I just smiled at her. "I'm glad, I always wanted a sibling so I'm really happy.", I told my mother. "That makes me happy. From the bottom of my heart. I hope you will protect her in the future, Jin.", my mother said.

After that my mother got up again and left the room. Seems like while my mother talked with me, my father told Eldrin. But it really didn't matter to me all too much. What mattered more was the amazing magic book. So I opened it and read a few pages though one thing seemed weird. I couldn't read.

"Fuck this. I ain't gonna go to school just to learn reading.", I thought. I opened the console with which I can control the story and just gave me the ability to read, or, well, having a built-in translater for my eyes so I can read it in english.

The spell instructions seemed... too easy. That was until I looked on the further pages. I opened my window and climbed out and ran to the open field.

"Okay, let's see... Shadow dart seems interesting.", I said. I cleared my throat and helf my arm infront of me like in the picture. "Darkness, form and strike!", I screamed. A small shadow like dart materialized in my hand. I aimed it at the forest. It was said in the book that it has a range of 20 meters... Long story short I took a lumberjack's job for a bit. I blew away 10 trees with a single Novice spell, that was said to only deal minor damage and mostly only slow down the enemy.

"The fuck. Huh. WHY WAS IT SO STRONG?!? SHIT SHIT SHIT! WHAT AM I GOING TO DO!?!?!", I panicked. "Calm down, Jin. Nobody is going to know it was you.", I calmed myself down. "Okay... then maybe I shouldn't do a attack spell for the adept class... I don't want to blow away the entire forest."

I skipped the next few pages until I was at the Adept category. "Okay... Adept. Don't disapoint me.", I thought. I quickly found a spell titled "Shadow Step". "Doesnt seem to be a attack spell.", I spoke out loud. "Might aswell try it... okay, it's said.. imagine it and there has to be a shadow in sight.", I looked confused. "But it's night... does that mean I can do it everywhere?", I questioned myself. I closed my eyes then opened them again. I really teleported. "That might come in really handy.", I said.

I took the book again. "Seems like 3 classes remaining... I guess I'll do it tomorrow or something. This is plenty."

So I climbed back into my room, put the book down next to me and laid in my bed. "Man, this life has been much more interesting than my previous life, though I think I should limit my mana output... so things like the Shadow Dart incident don't happen again.", I thought. I opened the console again, I was shocked. My output was 1000% of the usual spell's power. I quickly made it go down to 200% and closed it again. "I'll have to try out which works best for me.", I said. After that I tucked myself in and went to sleep.

Not much to say here. Felt quite bored so I wrote the 5th chapter. Might need a few filler episodes (just kidding) because story is progressing fast (it really isnt, just don't want to make it boring to go to the interesting parts faster). Anyway, thanks for reading, see you tmrw.
