Final Test [17]

The weeks passed, Emilia had become stronger than Rowan, which was a good feat for her, seeing as how we only trained for 8 weeks. She also started practicing wind magic besides lightning magic. Me on the other hand, I just learned how to use 2 spells at once and was getting the hang of it quite fast. I could now hold it up almost infinitely.

Emilia and I were relaxing in our room when a elf guard knocked, he had a scroll in his hand and handed it to us before going away again. "Was sent from the school... Ima open it, kay?", I said. She nodded slightly. I opened the scroll and read outloud, "Dear Jin, dear Emilia, we have been facing inconviniences in the school, we will be overthrown by the cultists soon. Do not return unless you are absolutely certain. Kael, Lyra, Lorien and Rowan have all been defeated and captured. I hope this reaches you in time before we will no longer can keep them at bay. We have requested help but nobody is accepting the request. We are hiding in the principal's office at the moment. Aria's whereabouts are unknown. -Mr. Collins.", I folded the scroll again.

"What will we do?", Emilia asked. "One more day. I only need one more day and we can come and rescue them.", I said determined. "Okay... Jin, we have gotten strong... but... they defeated every single member of the DC... you think we'll be okay?", she asked. "Not every single one. Aria's whereabouts are unknown. There is a possibility that she switched over to their side, but I know her. She is most likely developing a plan at the moment.", I quickly responded. "So in short, I think we will be fine. I've dealt with them in the past. They were weak back then. It would've just been great to have an estimate number...", I added.

We walked out of the building and met up with the village mayor, our teacher. "Jin, Emilia. I've heard what has happened. Today marks our final lesson. You have been training almost 2 months under me. You are ready.", he said as he walks to our training place.

"And what will be our challenge today?", I asked. "You both will face against me. I won't hold back so don't go easy either.", he warned as he got in a battle position. Emilia imbued her whole body with lightning, making her faster and stronger. I just used a new trick I've learned. I made a sword out of shadow magic, which is more complicated than fire magic. It wasn't just an ordinary sword but a pitch black claymore, with a crossguard. I then also sourrounded the blade with blue fire.

Each of us got into a battle stance, the old man shot up lava behind us, which was his element, a deviation from fire magic. Both Emilia and I dodged. "EMILIA, ATTACK FROM THE RIGHT!", I screamed. I pushed my sword into the ground, "DARKFIRE ERUPTION!", I screamed. The ground under the old man popped open and shot out shadow and blue fire magic. Tendrils shot out of the shadow magic and attacked the old man that had dodged, meanwhile Emilia rushed from the side he was dodging to, to attack him. She was about to hit him when he just leaned back. "NOT SO FAST, OLD MAN!", she screamed out as she stopped and turned it into a kick striking him against a tree. I walked up to her and stood beside her. "Good job.", I smiled at her. "Thank you... but it was only possible due to your opening.", she said, smiling. "Old man, do you give up?", I asked as I walked closer. He didn't answer, just vanished and appeared infront of me. I barely managed to block his strike with my claymore and the blue fire on my blade managed to burn into his hand. "Not bad, not bad.", he said as he jumped back. I scoffed at him. "That would've got me two months ago."

"Emilia, give me 15 seconds. I'll blow this old man away.", I looked at her, now more focused. "Understood, 15 seconds, can do... but please, don't blow me away too...", she said as she rushed at our master. I unsummoned my sword and held out my hand, this wasn't necesarry, but I was about to cast a Saint class spell which I had read about before. "Flaming... abyssal... PURGE!", I screamed out. Emilia jumped behind me after trapping the old man in a prison of wind that pushed him into one position. My spell released a wave of shadow magic, that consumed everything combined with blue fire that burned away the ground and nearby trees. It swept through the forest, leaving nothing but destruction behind. Every normal enemy should've been dead by now, but I felt a tap on my shoulder. "That was... certainly impressive.", my master said. The wave was now gone, but the ground was still burning from the blue fire and shadow hands reached up as if trying to grab lost souls.

"Jin... you... YOU ARE AMAZING! IN JUST TWO MONTHS YOU LEARNED ALL THIS? YOU SUPRISE ME AGAIN AND AGAIN EACH TIME!", Emilia screamed out. Both my master and I chuckled. "So that's it, huh? We will meet again, old man.", I told him as I shook his hand. "Yes, Jin. We will. I want to hear from you soon how the whole rescue operation went, okay?", he chuckled lightly. "We will save them.", I promised. "Good. So, one final time. Class dismissed.", he said as he walked away. "Come on, let's go sleep now. We have to be well rested if we want to go against a cult.", I said to Emilia while ruffling through her hair. "Stop that...", she said. "Okay, okay, just don't punch me again.", I smiled.

We walked back to our room, I made food one final time, and I made a feast for our... "victory" against our master. We laid down in our beds when Emilia just spoke out. "Jin, how are you so strong... I mean, you gotta... like, be special, shadow magic, saint class spells, combining magic... all things that even high ranking mages can't do. I'm starting to believe you're on the same level as the great saints..." "Nah, I'm nowhere near them, because that would've meant that our master was some.. god or something. I would say... I am on the level of a mage in the army that is a bit higher ranking.", I responded. "Don't downplay yourself, Jin. Either way, you are the greatest mage I know... and I truly believe you have potential to be the strongest.", she said as she turned around and went to sleep.

I was about to go to sleep too when something bright popped up infront of my eyes. It was the console. Console has been unlocked due to progression. New features: Future sight, quick learning, adaptation. Enhancements: Improved every enhancement (and added full control of how much to enhance.), added godly barrier (almost unbreakable.) "The fuck... this is... just way too OP at this point...", I thought... "Wait.. future sight? Activate.", I continued. It was like I had a 3rd eye, I could see about 5 seconds in the future but it was really annoying since I wasn't used to it. "Deactivate.", I thought again. "This will be really useful. Also, seems like quick learning is a passive. Might come in handy aswell, woulda wished for more information though, does this also mean I can learn an enemies attacks faster? Doesn't matter. I'm just grateful that I got my console back.", I thought as I closed my eyes.

"Jin.. we can beat them tomorrow, right?", Emilia questioned out of nowhere. "Yeah, I think so, but only if you get enough sleep, got it?", I lectured her. I was beginning to sound like my mother, both from my previous life and my life now. Thinking about it, how is she doing? She has a sickeness and needs someone to watch over her at all times... my father is always gone at work and comes back late at the evening, how are they doing with my death? I mean, it's been 10 years already. Right... my 11th birthday is in 3 weeks... totally forgot it with all the training and worrying...
