"Stop that," Nessa giggled, swatting away whoever it was that was tickling her. She was half asleep so you get the reason why it was pretty uncomfortable. Unfortunately, whoever it was, was quite persistent because even after swatting him away, he still licked her. Wait a minute, licked her?

Nessa bolted up straight and her hands first went to her face to wipe the slobber; her face distorted at the sheer amount of saliva on her skin. It was at that moment that Nessa realized something, Charlie was the one tickling her all along and here she was, thinking she was in an Icecream pool - in her dream earlier.

Instantly, as if a warning bell went off in her head, Nessa realized Charlie never comes into someone's room and things remain the same which was why she jumped off the bed and lo, and behold, her assignment laid in shreds, and her world swirled.

"Why God! Why now!" Nessa didn't know how to feel. It was as if someone just turned her universe upside down. Of all times, why now? Why this morning? She didn't even know where or how to begin, not to mention the fact that she woke up from sleep quite late and had less than an hour to prepare for school. Why won't she just die at this moment since she was toasted anyway?

Nessa contemplated skipping school for the day or better feign illness? But then her mother would see through her - the woman had microscopic eyes. What was she going to do? For a moment there, Nessa contemplated calling Damon - he was the champion school skipper- but then, she realized two things; she didn't have Damon's number nor could she ask Luke about his number since both weren't on speaking terms not to talk of having each other's phone number - but she had a feeling that he could get it. And talk of Aimee having Damon's number? In her imagination! Aimee hated his guts more than she did.

Number two: even if she had Damon's number, how was she going to call him after she had kicked him out of her life? She had blatantly told him the other day with her act that she didn't need him anymore and he had promised never to disturb her as well, hence asking for his help was like a dog returning to its vomit.

Nessa groaned into her palm, what was she going to do? Her life was officially ruined at this point. Damn it, what did she do to deserve this? She was a good girl and unless provoked she never retaliated. So why now?

In the end, after minutes of glaring at Charlie who whimpered, giving her his signature innocent looks, she went ahead to prepare for school. She would figure something out - even though she had no idea how.

As if the universe wanted to punish her that day, not only did her brother Adrian piss her first thing in the morning - Charlie was the first to put her in a bad mood anyway - her car added the finishing touch; it refused to start. Although, after some tweaking here and there, the engine finally roared to life and she went to school, Nessa arrived late.

Heaving deeply, she hurried into the class, only to come in and have all eyes on her. Oh boy, she wished the ground could open now and swallow her. The intensity of the eyes on her made her seem like a model on a runway in a show - only that she was modeling for all the wrong reasons right now.

"Miss Nessa, a pleasure to finally have you in class by this time?" The sarcasm in the teacher's tone was so obvious  as he checked his wristwatch, "Care to tell us the reason for your lateness?"

Great, the beginning of her misery, she facepalmed mentally.

"I have no excuses," she let her head drop in resignation while hearing simpers from the back. Those losers, she gritted her teeth.

"Well, I guess there's always room for forgiveness,"

Oh, thank God.

"And your assignment?"

Oh, don't thank God yet

She immediately began to explain, "Sir, I know you might not believe this when I say this but something outrageous happened - "

"Are you going to tell me that  a goat ate your homework?"

"How did you know that sir?" She peered up at him from beneath her lashes in astonishment, "Although technically speaking, it's a dog, not a goat," she tried to explain but the roar of laughter from the class told her she had been making a great fool of herself- the teacher had been taunting her all along. Yeah, this keeps getting better.

"Sir, I believe I was telling the truth, " Nessa defended, already rummaging  through her backpack to produce her ruined assignment as evidence when her teacher said,

"And I believe that my patience has run out as well. Miss Nessa, make good use of your time in detention to reflect on your lies," He added, "And your lateness,"

"But you forgave me for the lateness!" She couldn't believe her petty teacher.

"As you can see, I changed my mind. Now off you go, miss Nessa, and let the serious students study,"

"Yes sir," Nessa acquiesced with a smile that didn't touch her eyes- she wished she could claw out his eyes right now. Why? She was telling the truth here for Christ's sake! Fine, she would take it that way.

On her way out, she caught Luke's concerned look and flashed him an assuring smile while Erica snickered at her. Whatever, she rolled her eyes.

Getting to the detention room, the disciplinarian barely acknowledged her presence and Nessa found out it was just three students around and all males. Unwilling to sit alone, she decided to sit near the dude that had his head facedown and was apparently asleep - that way she wasn't alone yet enjoyed some quietness at the same time.

Some time passed as Nessa worked on her assignment and only glanced up when the dude rouse from his sleep. Well, time to make a brief introduction.

"Hey, you're awake, I'm Nessa…" the rest of her words trailed off as she stared right at Damon's face. What in the name of the lord is going on here?

Nessa didn't know how to reply as her hands hung awkwardly in the air while her chest thundered in her chest. Today wasn't really her day, was it? However, those hazel eyes of his looked so beautiful up close. Why was he so handsome - she couldn't hate him the way she wanted to because of that.

"Hi?" she finally said after a few minutes of awkward silence and waited patiently for his reply - which never came.

To her greatest surprise, Damon simply pushed the chair back which caused a squeaking sound, and stood to his feet without as much as a word to her and left.

Nessa was dumbfounded, detention wasn't over and he left already? This was so damn unfair! But most of all, Nessa realized she had been blacklisted by Damon. Wonderful.
