Chapter 1 Preparations

Ether, having the recollection of events that'll take place soon in Mondstadt, couldn't help but feel excited at the fact that he can help traveler out in their quest to find her brother.

At the same time, he doesn't know how to feel about facing Aether/Lumine when he meets them. Should he be excited, or nervous? After all, he has the appearance of Aether, which is awkward for him when he meets the traveler. Since it'll be awkward for them to see each other if the traveler is Aether, or if they saw Lumine. Therefore, Ether had to mentally prepare for this.

After all, he had prepared for 2 years waiting for the travelers arrival.

The preparation was simple, up until now that is. As Ether only had to help around and didn't need to worry about anything, but now, upon travelers arrival in Mondstadt, in the world of Teyvat, Ether had to make sure that everything went as the story had in genshin, minor changes were acceptable however, he wouldn't want changes drastic enough to destroy the world of Teyvat. After all, he and trouble are different sides of the same coin, wherever he is, he tries to stay out of sight and trouble, he always tended to stay away from those he marked as 'trouble' from their own personal interests and activities.

The preparations before the travelers arrival were the simplest things in the world, all Ether had to do was to help the people of Mondstadt out with various things and tasks, such as clearing out Hilichurl camps and escorting merchants, and even helping the Church or the Knights of Favonius out on occupation, all of the above which helped him grow and earn money in the mean time. From these request and missions he had been doing for the past two years, he had gotten many things that could assist him in helping the traveler.

For example, Ether had made sure that his stats were close to that of Diluc, Lisa, Jean, Kaeya, and/or Amber's with the help of the system. Since the system does provide power ups for the souls that Ether had killed, regardless of the type of being they are. But that itself was expensive, it did take 80% of the souls he had collected to raise his stats to where they are now. Which reminds Ether of the gacha system in Genshin Impact, and he couldn't help but chuckle.

Thinking about it made Ether want to laugh out loud in his own face, because of the fact that he had always used 80% of his own money, earned from his job and from his monthly allowance on genshin, which he never thought twice about. 'Good thing that the system doesn't have gacha like that, at least, not yet,' Ether thought to himself as he looked at the system panel that displayed his general stats:

The system had, after all, evolved over the two years that he had been working with. In the beginning, he was vastly disappointed of the fact that his cheats didn't have the same OP crap that he saw in his previous life. But that disappointment didn't last, after 7 months of hard work, the soul system had unexpectedly evolved after his 47th Hilichurl camp clear and right after he had killed his 100th Hilichurl, the system had became more powerful, however, various functions were still locked, and so he continued doing his work as he did before the system evolve and just a month ago, he had finally reached the next level of the Soul System, and it had informed him that he had finally finished the tutorial and had unlocked the most basic features of the Soul System.

And the rest of the features require him to do something specific to unlock it. For instance, the shop function had only unlocked after he had bought something from a shop. While the craft and equipment was unlocked thanks to him crafting his very own weapon when he had first arrived in this world.

He didn't bare much hope for the system before but it's a different story now, although it's more inconvenient than the systems that he had in mind, like the system in anime like the ones in "So, I'm a Spider, So what?" Or "That Time I got reincarnated as a Slime" or "Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest" and various different ones he had in mind but the system he received was vastly different. "Not that I am unsatisfied to say the least but it could've provided me more…" Ether muttered as he glopped down a huge chunk of food.

After finishing his meal, he quickly got to work on his preparations. First, he had made sure that his gear was up to par, after all, if he dies, it's game over, there is no restart button for this life like the actual game. Second was to investigate the surroundings of Mondstadt, after all information is important. And finally, he'll have to attempt to make himself even the tiniest bit stronger if possible by taking the lives of Hilichurl of course. But it all changed when the system issued its first mission.

[Main Quest: Dvalin's slumber]

[Details: The Dragon of the East, Dvalin, has awoken from its long slumber. Find signs of his awakening and report to the Knights of Favonius]

Coughing and spitting out the water that he was drinking, the sight of the quest greatly shocked Aether, after all, who would expect such a penalty in a game? But if Venti doesn't appear, the traveler and the rest of Mondstadt is likely to get wiped off the continent of Teyvat. Which means game over and Ether is not going to let that happen. The limits of the system increased a month prior to today, so Ether assumed that the traveler had woken up and fished up Paimon by the lore of the original story in Genshin Impact. He had a month before the traveler arrives if that was the case, and he's not going to waste it laying around doing nothing. After all, he has to help the traveler with their search for their sibling while uncovering the truth of the world, before he could live happily after in the world of Teyvat.
