Neuvilette's Wisdom

Noctis

"What are we here to do? Discuss how the children worked in Poission?" I asked Arlecchino, we had just arrived at the Hotel Bouffes d'ete. Earlier she said 'we had other things to do' and I'm really hoping she was joking about introducing me as 'Mother' to the house of hearth.

The house of the hearth already knew of me, of course they would, because I'm a Harbinger after all. However, the title mother is rather embarrassing. I am one of the Seven Great Dragon Sovereigns, not a mother... Also I'm not even a female!

"Well yes I want to discuss how they handled the matter in Poisson but did you forget? Of course I have to tell the children about their mother. They will be ecstatic to have new blood in the family. And, with such a powerful, attractive, and lovable mother I doubt they can complain." A lecherous gleam lit up her eyes as she spoke with a mischievous smile, I could only feel a shock of embarrassment and a harsh heat spread across my cheeks.

I gulped down a ball of saliva building in back of my throat before nervously speaking, "but.. why do I have to be mother..?" I could hardly speak as her lustful eyes bore into my very soul.

"Hmm? Is it not obvious? A father should be stoic, distant and cold. You're none of these. Also, you have the perfect appearance for it!" She quickly spoke giving off a few informative nods like she was answering and trying to explain an essay answer.

"I'm not that feminine!" I shouted back in refutal. She tapped on her chin a few times and leaned in closer towards me, admiring my features.

I followed her gaze as it scanned over my face, then my eyes, my arms and legs, and finally my chest...

"Personally, I believe you have the perfect female appearance, you're just missing a few assets. Oh and I guess you also have an extra asset..."

"D-Don't talk about my body like this in public!" I argued in a stuttered shout of embarrassment. Arlecchino definitely knew the perfect ways to make me feel vulnerable through he powerful teasing. It's like a spell or skill you can't avoid whatsoever...

Arlecchino let out a small, strangely gentle laugh before talking once again, "Well shall we head in and meet our children?" I nodded before being lost away in my thoughts.

Despite how much Arlecchino teased me I still loved her and she's been very accepting of me, even after finding out my identity. She even considered her children our children. It really makes me feel like I'm part of a family. Like how it was back then...

I felt a sense of dread fill my very being. Our relationship would not be until death do us part. It would be until death takes the love of my life from me... In a few hundred years all of them will die... Arlecchino will die eventually...

My heart wept in agony at the realization that soon It would only be me and Neuvilette wondering the world alone, looking for any remnants of our family.

It was a agonizing truth, but this is what I must experience as an immortal who fell in love...

In that moment of sorrow I remembered something, a gentle breeze carrying a message from the past.

A promise our family had made many a years ago, we promised each other never to mingle with the mortal life. A vow that we would only take care of each other. I must apologize but this a vow I must now break.

I will cherish this time I have with Arlecchino and do everything in my Draconic Power to protect her. She will live her life to fullest.. Anyone who dares to try and hurt her or her children, no our children will suffer the wrath of a sovereign.

Even if I have to fight that bastard Phanes to my death once more.

Lyney

The door to the lobby of the hotel opened slowly coming through was Father and Master Noctis. They seemed to bickering about something and Father was smiling. That's odd?

As they walked through the lobby I stood up and waved my hand, "Over here Father, Master Noctis." Hearing us they stopped and turned towards our table. We were positioned in the corner of the hotel lobby with a few cups of tea and a small array of cakes on our table.

"Lyney, Lynette, Freminet. It's good to see you all again. How did Poission go? Any information?" Father sat down and immediately got to business asking about our mission to help the people of Poission. Noctis however, quietly sat down and took one of the cakes.

"We are currently handing out supplies to the people of Poission and also more magic pockets to help with moving their things." Father nodded while Noctis seemed completely out of the conversation he was quietly eating a small chocolate cake. His mind must be on other important matters.

"And, do we have enough supplies to sustain the people? What about medical care have we helped with that." She asked looking over the three of us.

"We have enough food and water to sustain the people of Poission for at least a month currently." A soft voice from my side spoke up, it was Freminet giving his report on the essential supplies.

"We have also given out many medical supplies to the Spina Di Rosula so that they can take care of their injured." The voice from my other side answered, Lynette answered in her usual robotic tone.

"Good well done, my children. You have all done a good job here today. We will continue to supply the Spina Di Rosula and Poission until they can get back up on there feet. We should also try to enhance the defenses of Poission in hopes of defending from another flood if that must come.

"Yes, Father." The three of us said in unison.

"As of those ruins that were discovered The Traveller and Miss Navia should be heading there now. Let's hope there is some information they can use from that place."

"You gave The Traveller insider information, Father?" I asked genuinely curious about what could have made her trust Lumine.

"Of course, my children seem to have a very deep trust towards her and as their Father I should respect their judgement in giving result, after all you're not stupid enough to give away your trust freely."

"Wait a minute." A quiet voice from the chair opposite me muttered, I looked up in confusion, it seems everyone at the table did. The man, Master Noctis then looked up towards Father. He had a rather complex expression on his face as if he was contemplating something.

After a minute of silence he spoke, "I just remembered Neuvilette said he would me the Traveller and I at Poission..." Father had an unusual expression on her face, it was blank like usual but it looked more insulting than usual too, as if she was calling him an idiot with nothing but a glare.

"I suppose you should head to Poission, quickly." Father simply stated with a blank expression.

Yep, of course! We wouldn't want him to cry a flood into existence when he realizes he was forgotten.

In that moment a veil of electro energy eminated from Noctis, the next second he was gone.

"Oh Mr Iudex, faithful judge or Archons.~" I called out poking at Neuvilette's shoulder from behind with a single finger. He turned around with blank yet pained expression.

"I see the damage to Poission is quite bad. I'm thankful the Fatui are helping with supplies." He said as he turned back towards Poission.

"Yeah that's Arlecchino's idea. I'm glad she thought to have the House of Hearth on standby in case of an emergency."

"Is that so? I will have to thank her somehow."

He hummed in thought for a while as he continued to look over Poission. After a minute or so he turned and continued to talk,

"Anyhow, do you know where Miss Navia and Miss Lumine might be?" He asked with a curious expression.

"I thought you might ask that, yes I do know where they are. Would you like to follow me?"

I spoke in a casual tone as I recalled the locations of the ruins the others were talking about earlier.

"Yes I shall, lead us to the ruins." Hearing Neuvilette's words I began to walk in the direction of the ruins.

As we continued walking I had to address something on my mind, "Brother?" Neuvilette stopped, his face had a strange expression. Shock mixed with unfamiliararity and a few other emotions, it seemed he still wasn't used to having a family member.

"Yes.. Brother?" I smiled hearing him address me as brother but also because I was probably going to totally ruin his mood.

"What do you think about these humans. I'm a tad worried that I've gotten too close to them. After all they will only live meagerly short lives, unlike us." He continued walking but I could tell he was thinking about his answer from his complete silence.

"Personally, I believe that the shortness of their human lives is what makes them so important." He said calmly and intuitively. These words were his real true opinion but I couldn't understand.

"How so?" I questioned him and he thought for a moment.

"Well you see, Human lives being so short means they have a lot less time to achieve something great like us long lifed species. In this manor if thinking I suppose you could see them as one of the harder working specie. They work as hard as possible to become great, and they have the least amount of time to do so making it much more impressive. For example, Lyney, Lynette and Freminet. They are all extremely young compared to us but they are already wonderful people. Them helping Poission proves so."

Hearing his words of wisdom I thought back to some of the humans I've met a long my journey, one I hate to admit he was right about was Childe. Compared to me he was incredibly young but I had to admit he was rather powerful, I can't imagine how much hard work that took compared to me who was born with overwhelming power. Sure I took time to learn my right skills but when you have near infinite time it's no where near as impressive.

"Thank you.. Neuvilette despite how you're extremely antisocial and don't know how humans act you sure have a lot of wisdom about them!" I returned to my usual self immediately teasing him.

"It is no problem, Noctis. May I ask how far away we are from the ruins now?" I took a glance around us and then recalled the map Arlecchino had.

"I believe this is it actually. Should we head in?" Neuvilette simply nodded and walked towards the entrance of the ruins.

We entered the ruins, the landscape was well ruined, and quite hard to navigate, there also was primordial sea water everywhere.

"The Primoridal Sea has already flooded this place too?" I spoke as I motioned my gaze to a large reservoir of primordial sea water covering parts of the ruins.

"This is quite the problem indeed. When we return I shall get a team to investigate deeper into the Primordial Sea."

We explored deeper into the ruins and suddenly the whole place shook, like a miniature earthquake. Large chunks of rock and dirt fell from the ceiling and the ruins crumbled. In the corner of my eye I spotted three figures running across a crumbling bridge, though the crumbling ruins were to fast and I watched as Navia lost her footing and dropped. Below her a large pool of primordial sea water.

"Neuvilette!" I shouted at the top of my lungs, it was enough to get his attention and make him realize the situation. An aura of hydro surrounded him and he shot off towards the bridge with an incredible speed, shocking even to me.

(A/N) And that's the end of that chapter. Boy has it been a while. This chapter was actually meant to come out waaaaay earlier but I had some issues.

My nan ended up getting put into hospital right after I updated a fox and the nobody and then she didn't come out. Don't worry about me though I'm okay I've just been trying to support the family members that actually got affected and were saddened.
