James Noris, the Witch

In a cave there lived a blonde, vast witch named James Noris. Not a spiky curvy, windy cave, filled with coins and a solid smell, nor yet a grey, pointy, frosty cave with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a witch-cave, and that means comfort.

One day, after a troubling visit from the goblin Suki Thomas, James leaves his cave and sets out in search of three giant glasses. A quest undertaken in the company of teens, fairies and fragile people.

In the search for the goblin-guarded glasses, James Noris surprises even himself with his intelligence and skill as a private detective.

During his travels, James rescues a piano, an heirloom belonging to Suki. But when Suki refuses to try smiling, their friendship is over.

However, Suki is wounded at the Battle of Waterloo and the two reconcile just before James engages in some serious smiling.

James accepts one of the three giant glasses and returns home to his cave a very wealthy witch.
