Chapter 90: The First Night

The warm glow of the lanterns illuminated the cobblestone streets as Zephyr, with a full belly and high spirits, led Li Yang, Feng Xuan, and Lisa towards the dormitories of the academy. The echoes of their laughter resonated through the air, giving away the camaraderie that was slowly building between them.

"I hope you guys enjoyed the meal," Zephyr chuckled, rubbing his stomach contentedly. "Now, let's head to your dorms so you can get a good night's rest. Tomorrow is going to be a big day."

As they strolled, Zephyr continued, "Oh, I almost forgot to mention – there are two senior students here who hold esteemed positions. But they are currently away on a mission. Once they're back, I'll introduce you to them. Their experiences could be quite enlightening for newcomers like you."

The dormitory building loomed ahead, a majestic three-storied structure with an old-world charm. Ivy crawled up its stone walls, and soft lights glimmered through its windows. The entrance held a large wooden door that creaked slightly as Zephyr pushed it open.

Inside, the hallway buzzed with activity. Students were everywhere, discussing their day, sharing stories, or preparing for the next day. Many waved or nodded at Zephyr as they passed, their eyes glinting with curiosity at the sight of the new students.

"This is our abode," Zephyr beamed proudly. "A place of rest, camaraderie, and, occasionally, some mischief."

He winked, leading them up a flight of stone stairs to the third floor. The corridor here was quieter, with only a few students milling about. Zephyr stopped in front of three adjacent doors. "From left to right, these will be your rooms. Feng Xuan, you're on the far left, next is Lisa, and then Li Yang."

The trio exchanged glances, a mix of excitement and nervousness evident on their faces. One by one, they opened their doors. Each room was modest but comfortable, equipped with a bed, a study table, a small wardrobe, and a window that offered a breathtaking view of the academy grounds.

"Get some rest," Zephyr advised. "Tomorrow, I'll introduce you to the Task Hall, where all missions are assigned. It's crucial you understand the workings of it."

Lisa, looking around her room, said, "It's quite cozy. Thank you, Zephyr."

Feng Xuan, ever the playful one, added, "Now, if only they had a mini-bar in here."

They all laughed, and with a final goodnight, Zephyr headed down the corridor, leaving the trio to settle in.

Li Yang, leaning against his doorframe, looked out at the night. The moon bathed the academy in a silvery hue, and the sounds of the night played a soft lullaby. This was a new chapter in his life, and he was eager to see what the morrow would bring.

In the distance, an owl hooted, signaling the arrival of the late hours. The academy, with all its secrets and wonders, waited in patient silence for the dawn of a new day.
