Cassie sat in silence, her eyes wide open, staring at the spot where Lucca had last stood. Her head was spinning, her body weak and hollow. A deep sadness overwhelmed her as Lucca disappeared, as if a vital part of her had vanished with him.
With what little strength she had left, Cassie tried to get out of bed. Her legs wobbled, and she almost fell if not for gripping the edge of the bed. Slowly, she walked toward the mirror in the corner of the room, her face pale and her eyes red from exhaustion and the pain she felt.
The image of Lucca disappearing replayed in her mind. "He's... really gone," she muttered, her voice barely audible. Tears began to stream down her cheeks. The deep sense of loss hit her, making her feel as though the world around her was crumbling.
