Chapter 56- Sports club

Akisu knew there was something different about this friend of his named Minoru.

Not only did Minoru answer every question directed at him correctly, but his confident demeanor and sudden charm elevation, raised a lot of queries.

For some reason, people couldn't ignore it from wherever Minoru passed and also, some of the girls were giving him the looks that only boys like Shio or Koori's boyfriend, Nao received.

Maybe it was because Minoru no longer wore his glasses, that his confidence had attained a boost.

'I wish I could be like him one day...' Thinking about a certain redhead he met during the vacation, Akisu hoped that if he met her next time, he could be a better version of himself.

"What you mulling about?" Hearing Minoru's query, as the boy took one omelet roll from his box, Akisu subconsciously uttered,

"I also wanna look good..." It wasn't that Akisu desired popularity; rather he detested being in the spotlight.

Akisu just wanted to be good-looking enough that the next time he sees Miku—if the chance arrives—he doesn't need to feel inferior or get overly embarrassed which could cause their conversation to always be one-sided.

He didn't want to get regarded as a creep.

"Hmm? Why don't you join a gym or something? I heard that discipline provides you with a personality."

Akisu scoffed at the suggestion. While it was true that he had made a mental note to lose weight, it didn't mean he would need a gym to build his personality.

...in the first place, Akisu was uncertain whether he would even go to the gym after a couple of days of joining.

"Trust me, Aki, once you change your daily pattern, you will see some sort of difference in your life."

Hearing Minoru pestering on the topic, garnered Akisu's attention, as the thought of visiting the nearby gym arose inside of him.

"Well...I will try to visit the gym near my house sometimes..." Hearing his response, Akisu found Minoru grinning as he added,

"Inform me when you go. I might accompany you?"

Akisu nodded at that before he suddenly remembered something, "You said you have to visit the soccer club after school. But don't you have cleaning duty today?"

Hearing that, Minoru made a face akin to saying, 'Oh shoot!' before he covered his face behind his palm.

Akisu silently ate his food before offering, "Well, I can handle it. You should go and see what the coach had to say."

Not so long after, Akisu was seen evading his friend's hug, who had become emotional enough to make people around them, doubt their sexual preferences.

It was after classes, nearly at three when Minoru walked toward the football ground which was on the left side of the main building.

The soccer ground was almost the same size as the main building in the area and the groundsman kept good care of the field—that much Minoru could assess just by a mere glance.

As of now, he has never been invested in sports or clubs, and even now, his reason to visit the club was partially because of the heartfelt request the coach extended in the morning and also, Minoru wanted to have the taste of some hormone raging, smoking hot soccer guys.

Reaching the side of the field, he saw a group of ten boys wearing similar uniforms standing in a line with a similar small mustache adorning coach facing them.

"Ah, Minoru. You are finally here. " The coach beamed with excitement upon seeing him, as the others also turned their eyes to lock on him.

Minoru didn't know most of them, except for the blond youth named Hankashi Shio. There was another boy who attracted Minoru's attention, even though he didn't know the boy.

Unlike Shio, this one had a slightly bulky frame with broad shoulders and short red hair. Despite wearing a sports jersey, Minoru could sense the muscles the boy was packing in there and also the possible monster he was caging inside his shorts.

Similarly, as Minoru glanced at the boy, the said redhead also checked Minoru with his eyebrows raised.

"So, what am I supposed to do?" Initially, Minoru wasn't planning to join, but seeing the options open for him here, he couldn't resist the temptation~

"Before that, do you know anything about soccer? Or have you ever played any sport before?" Unlike the unhealthy thoughts Minoru possessed, the older one named Kenji was entirely focused on gaining his eleventh man.

Minoru lied without much thought, "I used to play baseball back in middle school. And about soccer, then I think I can be a good goalkeeper?"

Hearing that, Kenji's eyes lit up. He was exactly looking for a goalkeeper! And here, God itself has sent this boy for them.

"Perfect! Now go change into the spare clothes of someone you find fit and come back here." Minoru nodded before he made his way toward the locker room which was near the field.

Meanwhile, when he was away,

"Coach...are you sure about him? I mean, he looks so tender and soft. I bet he might end up crying after getting the ball smacked on his face." One of the boys with tanned skin and shaved head passed the comment about Minoru.

It wasn't only the speaker but anyone who could discern that Minoru wasn't suited for rough games. His delicate features would even make people hinder throwing the ball at him, in fear of hurting the boy.

"What? You now falling for him?" Someone from the group passed the comment before others began chuckling.

Kenji just sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose, and was about to tell everyone to behave until Minoru got through his trial. However, as soon as their eyes landed on the approaching figure of Minoru, wearing the half-sleeve jersey and shorts, everyone turned extremely silent.

...this might indeed become a little dangerous... not for Minoru but for the other boys.
