"Was it your people who were flying those helicopters?" Negan recalled how, a few days ago, a group of helicopters bombarded a quarry full of walkers before disappearing as suddenly as they had appeared.
"Could be. Nowadays, many have access to helicopters, so I couldn't confirm or deny anything."
Negan fell silent, closed his eyes for a minute, and then said, "What if I refuse?"
"I would destroy this place and kill every person here in just a few seconds. It's not a threat, but I'll still kill you when you turn into walkers, so I personally think the sooner I do it, the fewer problems you'll give me in the future."
Dominic lit a cigarette and said, "One thing you don't know is that I'll be in the North fighting mutated walkers coming from Canada. If my frontline can't withstand the burden, then you'll die no matter where you hide."
"I'm not afraid of death."
"But I suppose I'll die without doing anything meaningful."
"No, really, I'm a very selfish person," Negan said with a playful smile.
Dominic glanced at the time once more and said, "Let me make it clearer. In this country, there are two distinct organizations, each with military power strong enough to mutually harm us. I'm the leader of one of the organizations, and my rivals, who are now theoretically our allies, will find a way to kill me."
"Why don't you kill them first?"
"If I focus on my enemy, the place I consider safe will be seriously compromised by the walkers from Canada who are migrating to our country." Dominic didn't have things as simple as many might think.
"So?"
"If you help me, I'll give you a high position within my organization. You'll have power and security, and you'll protect those who deserve to live. I'll change this world; at least that's what I've been doing all this time."
Negan looked at his subordinates and asked, "You're going to take all these thieves?"
"All of them. I'll eliminate the less trustworthy ones over time, but I'll leave that to someone else." Dominic obviously wouldn't let everyone live.
"You're taking everyone?"
"Them, their families, and their dogs. I'll take anyone who wants to survive."
"Show me then. I want to know if you're the right person and if you have the power to take everyone out if you wish." Negan wanted to test Dominic to see if everything he was saying was true.
Dominic smiled, raised his hand, and spoke over the radio, "Send the team for us; we'll evacuate."
"Zz... Understood, any other orders?"
"I need a pact point at the walker horde, one kilometer away. Eliminate it and check if the signal is stable."
"Understood."
Negan remained silent, thinking nothing would happen, but a few minutes later, two white drones flew over his head at a terrifying speed and bombarded a group of walkers in the distance.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Three powerful explosions echoed in the area, wiping out at least fifty thousand walkers from a horde sent to this place.
Dominic put on his gloves, looked at Negan, and said, "I await your decision. The helicopters will arrive here first thing tomorrow. Everyone will be able to restart their lives, have stability, and never lack food."
"I like your hospitality. Consider my help."
"Then we'll see each other tomorrow." Dominic hoped Negan would join his side. At least he would have someone as ruthless as Merle to take care of eliminating corrupt communities.
...
Back at the convoy, Dominic ordered the retreat. Alicia, who was sitting next to him, asked, "Are we leaving tomorrow?"
"I have to visit the community in Ohio." Dominic thought about the Commonwealth, which was the main reason he chose to be in Washington and cover more ground.
If he was right and united that organization with his, his power would be enough to keep the Canadian walkers at bay and hold out until he gained control of the CRM.
