Eliminating Walkers on the Road

Bang! Bang! Bang!

On the road, Dominic could see several walkers chasing people, trying to bite them. He knew it wouldn't do much good to save them if they were causing trouble in this chaos, but since he couldn't do anything else, he shot and killed a few walkers along the way.

"Is it necessary to do that?" Daniel didn't understand Dominic's obsession with this; ammunition was important, and he was spending it too recklessly.

Is it necessary to eliminate walkers? Of course, it was necessary. This is a responsibility that everyone who is still alive must have.

"Would you ask me that same question after seeing your daughter being killed by a walker that you thought was unnecessary to kill days ago? The fewer of those monsters there are, the fewer people will die." Dominic reloaded his weapon without looking back at Daniel, who could sense the anger overflowing from those words.

Dominic could feel the anger burning inside him, but his actions were directed towards the undead.

"Have you lost someone?" Daniel Salazar had no problem asking such a direct question.

"Dad, don't ask those questions."

"I killed my girlfriend and mother-in-law. My girlfriend's mom bit her, so she would eventually become one of those things, so she asked me to shoot her." Dominic sat looking at Daniel, who stared back at him directly.

"Then you did the right thing. If they bite me, you must do the same." Daniel could understand from the pain what Dominic was going through at that moment. But if there was something he admired in him, it was his willpower to keep control.

But Ofelia, Daniel's daughter, immediately asked, "How do you know she would become one of those things?"

"The cases are one hundred percent real; there's no cure for it, and the methods that could have saved her couldn't be used." Dominic stroked the necklace Emma had given him and muttered these words without much importance.

Everything he was doing right now was automatic; he had suppressed his thought process and was now in survival mode, driven by a simple promise.

What sense did that make?

No one but him could understand his true reasons. No one knew this world like he did, what the virus did to people, and the bravery he had in killing his girlfriend before she turned into a filthy walker.

But he wasn't someone who cried in front of others; he would keep that pain very well to be someone fit in this world and do what needed to be done to survive.

"We all have this new virus in our bodies; the only reason we're not walkers is that we're alive. That's why the situation will soon become uncontrollable." Dominic said as he watched houses ablaze where he wanted to pass through.

"Can we get to a hospital?" Ofelia was very worried about her mother.

Liza had thought about it. Ofelia needed a hospital as soon as possible because the woman's foot wound was very serious and needed surgical intervention. "Everything will be okay."

"Hospitals are the places with the most walkers in the state; the dead go there, and those places are where there's the highest likelihood of chaos." Dominic had to face reality; it would be a waste of time trying to go to a hospital.

But Daniel didn't want to accept this and said, "We're going to the hospital."

"I have a place; there might be good doctors who can help her." Dominic looked at Ofelia and thought about his refuge, where there were likely doctors.

"That possibility doesn't give me confidence; I prefer to go to a hostel." Daniel didn't want to move too much without knowing exactly what was going on; he knew that in such a situation, it was best not to move around too much.

A few moments later, they arrived on the outskirts of a hospital, where there were many police cars and rapid response teams setting up a blockade outside.

There was no need to say anything because everyone had the right words in their minds; it was impossible to enter that hospital.

"Move, get out of this place." A police officer shouted as others aimed at the walker, staggering from side to side.

"Shoot!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Dominic could see how these police officers were wasting unnecessary cartridges, so he shouted at them, "Shoot in the head; they'll die if you shoot them in the head."

The police officer who looked at the gun in Dominic's hands turned to look at the approaching walker and, without hesitation, aimed at its head.

Bang!

When the shot pierced the walker's forehead, it died easily. This was much faster than wasting hundreds of bullets on the walker. Dominic wanted to turn around to see who had given him that information, but by then, Dominic had left.

"Where are we going?" Travis asked, wanting to know what to do now.

"Are we going to another hospital?"

"No, the other hospitals are just like these. Take us to your house; we'll stay there tonight, and tomorrow morning someone will pick me up." Daniel was clear about what needed to be done.

Dominic, who was sitting in the corner, looked at Daniel and said, "My offer still stands."

"I'll think about it." Daniel didn't trust people very much.
