The Angel

Long ago, there lived an angel. It hated nothing and loved everything. It remained calm and happy even under the most immense pressure. People at first worshipped it but after learning about it's loving nature, people started taking advantage of it. The angel blinded with his love did everything they said. But the people didn't realize that everytime it became sad, one of it's feather from it's wing would fall out and turn into gold. When the people came to know about it, they became blind with their greed. They locked it up in a cave and said mean words to it everyday. Very soon, very little was left of the angel's wings but it was still happy with the thought that it was making his loved ones happy. One day a small kitten entered the cave. It looked at him with pitiful eyes and started crying. When the angel asked what happened? The cat looked sincerely in his eyes and began, "Why are you doing this to yourself? You know that human greed knows no limit and still here you are, giving them more with each passing day even though you know that you will disappear the second all the feathers in your wing disappears. Why are you doing it?" The angel gently smiled and replied, "If human greed knows no limit then, there's one more thing that is unlimited. It can't be covered even with this planet, or the moon or the whole universe itself. It's depth can't be measured by the deepest of ocean." "And what is that?" "The ability to love truly. Very few of it is left and those which are left are bound to get hurt like me. It is a test that only the purest of heart can pass." "But still, loving means the end of you." "Then so be it. Atleast I died with nothing but love in my heart." And very soon came the day when the last feather had dropped and the angel disappeared forever.
