From Ruby to Rhyot

[MATURE CONTENT] Updates on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. ||| Her eyes paused on my son and they widened as she pieced it together. "Shit, is he," "Careful, Leah," I stopped her. "If you want to talk about the past, do it when my son is not around." She covered her mouth with her hand, "Shit." "Were you... friends?" Rhett asked carefully. "No. I had no friends in school," I told him. "We were classmates." "I was friends with your uncle," she told him. "My what?" My son frowned. I glared at her and she gasped, "He don't know... Cole?" "Was he part of the family that cut ties with you, mum?" "Yes," I said shortly. "Mind your words Leah, Rhett has no connections with the family I had in Massachusetts, only with my English family. So, before your run your mouth, think first." "Was he your brother, mum?" Rhett asked. "Yes," I clenched my jaw. "He was. Our life choices made so he ain't no brother of mine now. He isn't worthy of your recognition either." My son caressed my back, noticing my anxiety, "It's okay, aunt Leah, I don't want to know anything about them. My whole life I only had mum and grandma, and that's enough for me." "Does he know?" She asked me. "It doesn't concerns him," I snapped. "Ruby, it clearly does," she looked at my son from head to toe. "No, it does not," I hissed. "Will you stay like this forever then?" What the hell is her deal? "When he's of age, he can choose to know more about the rest of his bloodline, but until then, it's up to me to make choices that will keep him safe. Away from the danger that lies in there. So, yes, until he turns 18, or until he graduates, things will remain like this, as they should." "Which one is it?" She asked. "1 or 2?" I gasped, "Excuse me? I wasn't a whore, Leah." "Well, you could have done it without knowing. Many did." My jaw dropped, "I know who it was." "1 or 2, then?" This bitch. "2," I hissed. "I was never close to 1." "Well, 1 was certainly close to you." I frowned, "What? What are you talking about?" "You don't know?" She arched her brows. "Know what?" My frown deepened. "Oh, man, you never talked to any of them after you moved to Oxford in early July, did you?" I swallowed, anxiety rising up, "No, why?" "Oh," she blinked, "shit. You don't know." "Know what, Leah?" I asked exasperated. "Are you... sure it was 2?" I clenched my jaw, "Yes." "100%?" "I know who my son's father is, damn it!" I yelled, frustrated, but as soon as it was out, I cursed myself, mentally regretting saying that out loud. "Was... my dad a twin?" Rhett asked, too damn smart for his own good. Closing my eyes, I cursed under my breath, "Yes." "He didn't know that?" Leah gasped. "An identical twin?" My son gasped. Sigh, "Yes." "You've... been with both?" Neville butt in. "No!" I gasped horrified. "Jesus, no." "Was 2... the youngest twin?" Rhett asked. I growled, "Yes. Yes, he was, alright? He was falling behind his grades, I was assigned to be his private teacher, because I was the top 1 in class, and he wasn't so intelligent. The headmaster said that if I helped that idiot, I would get my recommendation letter to Oxford, so, I did it, even though I didn't want to. He was a pain in the arse most of the time, but sometimes... sometimes he was the best guy I had ever met. I fell for him by May, but he didn't fall for me. After he rejected me, we got together one last time in June, that was when you came into the picture. I only learned about you in August." "You were... already in Oxford," Leah realized. I swallowed, "Yes. I was already in Oxford, I had already severed contact with the Sinnott and taken up mum's last name instead, Vaughan. Then my mum told me the truth about what Rhett's paternal family actually was about, the danger they actually represented, and I realized how stupid I had been, and how much danger I had put my son and myself in, by having a son with a guy from that family," I side eyed Rhett, "I don't regret you at all."

"Of my son!"

"I have, yes, I was going to post them in Instagram tomorrow. I'll sent to you. Anything else, or can I go to sleep now? I'm tired and so is my husband!"

"No, this is enough."

"Thank you, Leah," Klaus added.

"You're welcome, boys!" Then she hung up and soon the phone buzzed.

"Shit," Klaus cursed under his breath, "he's... you."

"Give me the damn phone already," I snapped, parking the car on the sidewalk of the road and looking at it, and when my eyes landed on him, I lost my breath. "He's not me, he has her nose, her freckles, this waist ain't mine either," I took in every detail of my son. "He has her ears too."

"What? How can you spot that?" He gasped. "To me, he looks like you."

"I've been obsessed with Ruby since I was almost 5 years old and she was 2," I closed my eyes remembering a time long forgotten to her. "She's the love of my life, she's always been, she always will be. I think I've memorized every single detail of her, every lash, every expression, every habit, everything, enough that I can tell her apart. Being able to spot what our son inherited from her aside from me, isn't hard at all, not to my eyes that were trained for her."

"It's giving Joe from You," he mocked and I rolled my eyes. "You're weird, bro."

"If I gained a dollar every time someone told me that, I would be a billionaire."

"You... you are a billionaire!"

"Yes, imagine if I gained a dollar for that, I would be richer than I already am!"

He rolled his eyes hard, "You're a menace, Rhys, a menace."

"Tell me something I don't know," I scoffed, eyes hovering over my son again, and I felt my heart warming up, especially when I saw the protective hold he had on his mom, that brought a smile to my lips. "I've wanted a son, to know that I had one with the love of my life, despite the situation, it's... like a dream."

"I've always wanted a godson, you better make me his godfather!"

I chuckled, rolling my eyes, "You're stupid, Klaus."

"I'm very serious though. I'll get mad if you don't make me the godfather!"

"You'll have to convince Ruby, not me. For me, you are already," I meant it.

"Awww, I love you too," he mocked and I gave him my middle finger.

We were both startled when my phone rang out of nowhere in the ear pods we still had on, and an unknown number glowed on the screen, a private number from London. "What the hell?" I frowned. "Do this number?"

"Man, it's my first time in London, I don't know their number," he scoffed.

Clenching my jaw, I accepted the call, "Crowther speaking," I exclaimed.

"Nice voice," a child beamed on the other side of the line and we frowned.

"Shut up," another child snapped at the first one, than he cleared his throat. "Which Crowther is on the line? One or two?"

I blinked confused, "Uh, what?"

The kid cleared his throat again, "Is this the twin 1 or twin 2?"

No. Way. "I'm the oldest twin, I guess that makes 1."

"Is it him?" The first kid who beamed asked.

"I don't know," the authoritarian one snapped. Sigh, "Are you from Boston?"

"I do happen to be from Boston, yes," I nodded. "Who am I talking to?"

"I... I'm... I..." a pause, "I'm Peeta."

"Peeta?" I asked, holding the urge not to laugh. "Mellark?"

The kid gasped, squeaked and hung up the call.

"Uh... was that your son?" Klaus chuckled.

"I don't know? It does sounds like my voice when I was a kid."

Not even a minute later, the phone rang again, the same number.

"Hey, Peeta, you're alright there?" I asked struggling not to giggle.

"Okay, uh, I lied, I'm not Peeta. I'm Rhysand," he said, lying again.

"Oh, really?" I arched my brows, sharing a look with Klaus who was covering his mouth his two hands not to laugh, because we did read A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas when we were bored back in the 2020 pandemic. "I go by Rhys, so, we have that in common, is that your nickname too?"

"His name also starts with an R," the other boy whispered, but I got his words.

"No, I go by Sand," oh, man, I'm tearing up here. "What's your name, Rhys?"

"I'm Rhyot. Rhyot Crowther, you?"

"I'm... I'm Rhysand Reid," oh, it's definitely my and Leah's son. "You are?"

A soft chuckle left my throat, "Rhyot," I repeated, "Rhyot Crowther."

"Oh? Sorry, I meant your age," he said and I noticed an anxiousness in him.

"I'm 28, but I'll turn 29 in October 7th. You?"

"I'm from March 27th," Jesus, I'm talking to my son.

"How old are you, kid?"

"Old enough. How do I spell your name?" He asked instead.

"Rhyot?" He hummed in agreement. "R-H-Y-O-T, my people call me Rhys."

"Rhys, I like it. Were you involved with Ruby... Sinnott in school? Or was it your brother? What's his name by the way?"

"My younger twin brother is Hayes Crowther, H-A-Y-E-S. He is engaged to Cole Sinnott, Ruby Sinnott's older brother by three years, they have been best friends since we were little kids, our family was always very close. We were all from the same class back in our Prep school, she was the youngest in class, smartest and top 1, I was top 2, and we used to fight a lot in class."

"So, if your brother is... gay, then, was it you that got involved with her?"

"Yes, it was me. However, I'm don't think she was able to tell us apart."

"She could be thinking she got involved with your twin?" He asked confused.

"Yes, she could, yes. Why? Do you know Ruby?"

He ignored my question, "Are you sure, you're the one she's been with?"

"According to memories, yes, I'm pretty sure it was me."

"Are you single?"

"Yes, I am," I chuckled softly. "How did you get my number?"

"I know my way through a computer. You have to come to London, Rhys. Ruby is here, you have to meet her again. She has never been with anybody else, and you have to tell her the truth, she needs to know the truth, and you need to learn the truth about something also. So, come to London before July. If you can't, come to Scotland by July 4th. You have to come!" Then he hung up.

We stayed frozen, staring at my phone, for what felt like a year.

"Your son... hacked you fucking number. He really is your son!" He gasped.

"I just talked to my son," I covered my mouth. "I talked to my son. I have a son!"

"You have a son!" He beamed.

"I have a son... I have a son with Ruby!"

"You have a son with your Princess."

"A son," I handed my phone to him, passing my hands through my hair.

"A godson!" The idiot exclaimed.

"I have a son, fucking hell, I have a mini-me."

"This world is doomed!" He chanted.
