Two weeks later…

For the umpteenth time, Tony heaves another sigh and falls back on the recliner chair he was sitting on. He has been unable to wrap his head around what happened with Carolyn and has kept off visiting Ethan at home but he possibly could not stop seeing Ethan, in frustration, he kicked the nearest thing to him.

"Hey!" Ethan yelled at him seeing his shoes flying to the other corner of the room, he wanted to grab the shoe and throw it at him but noticed the troubled look on his friend's face

"Did you get rejected by a girl? You look like the world is going to end in the next minute"

Ethan asked staring at him. He has been acting weird like one who was caught with a dead body or something worst.

"I must have been possessed" Tony replied looking at his friend and went to him for a comforting hug but he was pushed off.

Ethan chuckled as he falls back on the bed in a funny dramatic way and pick up his phone which had just beep instead. He assumed it was one of his numerous escapees with girls and ignores him.

He reads the message and furrowed his brows, he immediately goes online to confirm the news Loretta just texted him about and it really is there.

Every popular news company had posted about a possible engagement between his family and the McDaniel, their names is also abbreviated in the articles. Upset, he throws the phone on the bed missing Tony by a head.

"What's wrong?" Antonio asked getting out of his moment of despair.

"Nothing" Ethan said and goes to lie down on the bed beside Tony who has a smirking face ready for a tease while supporting his head with his palm.

"Should I bring you a mirror so you can see the look on your face right now?" Antonio stated and pick up his phone bringing it in front of him to see.

"Did Alex text you?" He queries and opens his phone to check his last message

"Why would you assume it's Alex?"

"Because her is the only capable to put you in a foul mood" he replied.

Ethan sighs tiredly and turns in time to see Antonio; he grabbed his phone from his hands pushing him off the bed and watches him rolled down.

"And again, she is also the only one who puts a smile on your face" Antonio added seeing how his mood had changed because he just mentioned her.

Antonio's phone start to ring and he picks it up then drop the call in a few seconds with surprise written on his face

Ethan guessed its Jane who called to tell him about Loretta, he stood up from the bed and motion for him to keep shut but he does the exact opposite.

"What's going on with this Loretta girl? I thought Alexandra is the one who has your heart."

"Shut up" Ethan brushed her off.

"Seriously, did something happen between you two? I noticed the awkwardness between you guys at your party and you haven't spoken to her since then"

Ethan ruffled his hair yanking it hard to feel pain, his feelings is not only hurting him now but also hurting his relationship with Alexandra.

"I don't want to talk about any of it, just get out" Ethan dismissed again and he gave in.

"Fine, I will leave you then, I have a date later anyway" he said and stopped probing him then grab his bag and crack the door knob only to bump into Carolyn and immediately shut the door in her face

Alex also saw the news about Ethan's official engagement to Loretta online and did not process it well, she couldn't believe that Ethan will get engaged to someone without talking to her about it and is upset

She doesn't understand when they get so close even though she had heard it from Loretta at the party; she was still quite shock to see it online.

She want to be happy for him but she doubted if he was happy himself about the arrangement, if she isn't mistaken, Ethan has another girl which he told her he likes and she let herself believe that girl isn't Loretta.

It was during one of her classes that she read the news and it affects her mood as she can't help but feel upset about it.

After her classes, she head straight to her room only to be confronted by another headache, she has forgotten that Loretta stays in the same room with her.

"Did you see the news today?"Loretta queries flashing her phone in her eyes immediately she walks in

"We had our first date today" she added lying through her teeth

Alexander refuses to give her attention and go to put her bag down before getting on her bed to relax from the strenuous day.

"You didn't happen to call him today right? He left his phone with him and only took it back much later" she continued to rile her up.

"Are you too sad to say something now?" she asked again sarcastically and sat down on her bed then reach out to touch her hair but she jerk her hands off

"Can you move away? It's suffocating" Alex finally said.

Britney giggled and walk away to see her sullen, she didn't expect her lies and taunts to get to her but it seem it did. Though, she had met with Ethan today along with her parents but he didn't spare her a glance and keep checking his phone.

She had managed to distract him from the phone and secretly prayed that Alexandra doesn't call him till they are done

"Are you confident that Ethan won't call the engagement off?"

"What nonsense are you saying?"Loretta snapped turning around.

"Because Ethan likes someone else" Alex retort back at her and stood up from the bed to pour some water down her head.

"Did she finally get it?"Loretta wondered and held her hand in a fist.

Ethan had told her the same thing when she tried getting intimate with him earlier and made it clear that he likes someone else and if she isn't mistaken, that someone is Alexandra.

Should Alex be aware of his feelings too…

Britney gets tense as she thinks of the possibility for Ethan to call off their engagement and get together with Alexandra; she really made a lot of efforts and went on days of hunger to get her father to comply.

.... Alexander turn on the shower and brushes the water away from her face as they continue to fall, after being bothered for the whole day she finally figured out why she was sad about Ethan's engagement.

Alexandra had stumbled on Lena and Ethan kissing at the party after escorting Liam back to his car and was too dumbfounded to talk to him about it after everyone left.

Except the difference in name, every other thing about Lena seems to match that of the description Ethan told her about the girl he likes and she couldn't be more convinced after seeing them together.

The water continues to run down her body and she finds herself back in the moment when he kissed her forehead. She closed her eyes briefly and opens them again

None of them has spoken to each other after that day and Alex feels lost on what topic to pick to discuss with him and crack her head

Alex turn off the shower and starts to dry her body slowly as she tries to figure out why Ethan would kiss Lena and act like that with her then get engaged to Loretta in two weeks

"Ugh" she shouts to keep the thoughts out of her head.

Alex comes out with her nightwear and lie down to sleep, she summoned up the courage and sent a message to Ethan asking how he is and gets a reply from him immediately.

"When are you going to send me my birthday gift?" She sent loosing up and chuckles when she sees a puppy emoji from him apologizing

"I was a little busy" he added and Alex could immediately sense that he is lying but didn't call him out as usual

"Hmm" she typed back

"I will come over tomorrow" he sent

"No need, I can just get it over the weekend" she replied panicky and turn off her phone then realize how stupid her behavior is and quickly sent him another message

"I lost the connection"

"Why don't we meet at Jane's place over the weekend? We can have some time together before we get busy for the exams" she sent and waited for a few minutes without any reply

"Ethan, are you there?" she typed half-afraid that he is ignoring her

"I wanted to be sure you have regained the connection" he sent

"I will see you then" he added

Alex buried her head in her pillow embarrassed and immediately turned off her phone.
