Chapter 41: that woman has no right to look down on my wife

Mike, standing beside his boss, Ethan Sterling, couldn't help but cast a disdainful look in Ethan's direction. "Boss, should I let them know that you are here?" he asked, skeptical of Ethan's intentions.

Ethan and Mike had been surreptitiously observing Mia and Emily for nearly an hour. While Ethan maintained a facade of indifference, his sharp eyes didn't miss a single detail. Mike, on the other hand, couldn't fathom the purpose of their clandestine watch.

In response to Mike's question, Ethan shook his head firmly. "No," he replied curtly, leaving Mike to ponder over his boss's enigmatic thoughts.

They continued their watchful surveillance, hidden from the view of Emily and Mia. The two women were engrossed in playful interaction, unaware of the scrutiny they were under. Ethan's silence intrigued Mike, who couldn't decipher his boss's intentions.

As they observed, a lady journalist and her cameraman arrived at the scene. The journalist's attention was drawn to Mia, whose face seemed oddly familiar. Thoughts raced through her mind as she tried to place where she had seen the young girl before. It finally dawned on her – "the little princess of Ethan Sterling."

With that realization, the journalist, Mirabel, saw an opportunity to interview someone related to the most mysterious bachelor in the city. She hurriedly approached Mia and Emily.

"Please excuse me, if you don't mind," Mirabel introduced herself with feigned warmth. "My name is Mirabel, and it's nice to meet you. May I know your name?"

Emily, still feeling puzzled by the sudden attention, replied cautiously, "My name is Emily Hertz." Mirabel discreetly signaled her cameraman to investigate if Emily had any ties to wealthy or influential families. After a brief inquiry, the cameraman reported that there were no prominent connections. Mirabel's initial friendliness soured, and she turned her attention to Mia.

Curiosity mixed with disdain as Mirabel focused on Mia and inquired, "And who is she?" Her question carried a condescending tone as she cast an unwelcoming glance toward Emily.

Mia, oblivious to the situation and eager to engage, responded cheerfully, "She's my new mom!"

The word "new" piqued Mirabel's curiosity even more. Confused, she thought it must be another woman attempting to win Ethan's heart through his daughter. Her initial curiosity transformed into disdain as she regarded Emily with a judgmental gaze, her fawning smile replaced with a cold expression.

Ethan, still hidden from their view, watched the entire sequence of events with his face darkening. He whispered to Mike, "Find me everything about that lady."

In less than twenty minutes, Mike returned with a file in hand. "Her name is Mirabel Roberts, a journalist and media influencer. She is currently working for Satellite Media Group, a company her family owns."

Ethan's voice was resolute and cold. "I want that company closed down first thing tomorrow morning. That woman has no right to look down on my wife."
