Arriving at Mulberry Gardens

Lu Nanfeng grunted in reply. He did not want to wait with the return flight, but he understood He Lixue well enough. She was thinking for him, wanting him to finish his work, and was not willing to delay him, but his heart was uncomfortable right now. 

He did not like that He Lixue was all alone, facing a gang who wanted to kidnap her, without even knowing who they were. 

But while Lu Nanfeng was uncomfortable, He Lixue was utterly calm and controlled. She had experienced much more challenging situations before; heck, she had even died once. 

Finally, He Lixue finished the call with Lu Nanfeng. She saw the address he had sent to her, and she made her way out of the hotel.

She quickly checked out, but she did not exit through the front door of the hotel, as she saw that a suspicious-looking car was parked outside. 

She did not know if the suspicious-looking car was there for her, but she did not want to risk it. 

She went to the bathroom. Here she washed her hands while observing her surroundings. Nothing unusual was happening around her, but she smiled slightly as she left the bathroom, but did not head for the front. Instead, she went further into the hotel and found a back entrance. 

The back entrance ended in a small alleyway, and when she walked out of it, she found that the car was still parked around fifty meters away from her. 

She quickly took the hat and lowered it so that her face could not be seen. She did not run away; she just walked at a brisk pace, like any other woman who was busy getting to her destination.

No matter how much she wanted to, she did not turn her head around to look at the car; she acted as if she did not care about it. 

Inside the car, Mister Jiang was seated and waiting for He Lixue to exit the hotel. 

He had already entered once, trying to get her room number from the receptionist, but they were not willing to give it out. 

Knowing that he could not cause a great scene, as it would scare He Lixue and cause her to run away, he went to the car and parked opposite the hotel, waiting for her to exit.

She could not stay in the hotel forever. 

Little did he know that she had already escaped. She was simply too good at playing hide and seek. 

He Lixue left the busy streets, she hurried to a busy road and observed the taxi's that came by. 

She was not going to take the first, but after seeing a taxi that seemed very normal, she hailed it and gave the address.

The middle-aged man who was driving the taxi nodded his head when he knew where she was going and began driving.

"Miss, the area you are going to, is quite upscale. We cannot enter the Mulberry Gardens with a taxi, but I can drive you to the gates."

"Thank you, uncle, that's fine," He Lixue answered. The driver nodded his head and focused on driving. Soon they came to the gates of Mulberry Gardens, and He Lixue paid the driver before exiting the car. 

The driver gave a long glance at He Lixue, but then he shook his head. Her clothes were so ordinary, and she did not seem to belong here, but it was not his problem if she could enter or not. 

He Lixue went to the gates where a group of security guards was standing, ensuring that only the people who had permission could enter.

He Lixue moved directly towards them, and when she reached them, they straightened their backs to seem intimidating. He Lixue smiled slightly.

"I am He Lixue," she began. "Lu Nanfeng should have told you about my arrival?" 

The guards were stunned when they heard her words, and then they narrowed their eyes.

"Miss He, do you have any ID on you?" they asked, and He Lixue nodded her head, took out her national ID card, and showed it to the guard. Upon close inspection, he saw that it was the same woman as pictured on the card, and he let her through.

The moment He Lixue got through the gates, a middle-aged man came towards her. "Miss He?" 

He Lixue looked at the person and looked puzzled. She did not know who it was.

Noticing her confused appearance, the man smiled, "Let me introduce myself. I am Jin Wei, the housekeeper of Young Master Lu's mansion."

Hearing that he belonged to Lu Nanfeng, He Lixue was calmer, and she smiled at the man. "Hello, Uncle Jin," she greeted him.

"Young Master Lu has asked me to come and fetch you, and ensure that nothing goes wrong. You will be staying in his mansion for some time, so if you need anything, do not hesitate to ask me."

"I will," He Lixue assured the middle-aged man and smiled at him.

She knew that he was only friendly to her because she was important to Lu Nanfeng, but she did not mind. It would be weird if he liked her from the first sight. They had never met before, so being polite was already great. 

Housekeeper Jin led He Lixue towards a car, and they drove to the biggest mansion in the entire Mulberry Gardens. Here they entered, and Housekeeper Jin said that he would go and get the chef to prepare some food.

He Lixue quickly took out her phone and sent a text to Lu Nanfeng, explaining that she had arrived at his home and would be eating shortly.

She also asked if he had a laptop, she could use.
