The man she loves

Chloe sat in the dining with Adam and his friends. She looked down at her plate not daring to look the men at the table in the eyes. Her eyes were swollen from her crying herself to sleep and she didn't want them to ask questions.

"Chloe," Adam's charming voice called to her. It felt like the Adam she met a while back. The one who loved to pull her leg and flirt with her.

Her heart skipped a beat when she heard him call her so sweetly. But avoided answering his call, she filled her mouth with food to avoid talking to him.

'The silent treatment again,' Adam thought and sighed.

"Chloe," he said once more and placed his hand on hers to get her attention. Chloe tensed when his hand touched her's. She felt the blood rise in her face making it red. "Are you okay? Your face is all red?" Adam asked worriedly. He couldn't see her face clearly but he could tell that she was angry at him.
