I love you

Chloe arrived home and went straight to her room. It was not that she was avoiding Adam but she just felt that the best thing for her heart at the moment was far away from Adam. She changed into her nightgown and went to bed. The talk she had with Ty helped to relax.

She was yanked awake from her sleep when the door to the room was pushed open forcefully. She sat up on the bed clutching the blanket, it was dark as the lights were turned off. She couldn't see the person that had entered the room. She strained her eyes but she couldn't see in the dark.

The person walked closer to her and with every step he took, he sent Chloe's heart into a frenzy. Her body trembled in fear as she imagined the worse of the identity of the man. She held her breath. "Help me, Adam," she screamed in her mind.

The person fell on the bed, Chloe tried to slowly leave the bed without alerting the man. The moment she moved the man grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him with all his might. She fell on him and he held her in place by her waist. Chloe shivered with fear and a wave of panic washed all over her. She pushed at the man's chest and attempted to free herself from his embrace.

"Let me go," she said getting the courage to speak up.

"Why should I?" the man asked in a hoarse voice. The strong smell of alcohol hit Chloe's nose the minute he spoke.

"Adam?"

"Yes, it's me. Who else did you except to enter your room so late at night?"

"No one. Let me go," she stated.

"Normally wives ask their husband to hold on to them but you are asking me to leave you?" he asked and Chloe froze. Having Adam call her wife made her heart skip a beat. She had lost hope that he would ever accept her to be more than a contract wife but hearing him call her wife and speak to her as though they share a close relationship made her heart so happy.

He moved his hand up her waist. "Why should I leave you. I am your husband and I have a right to my wife," he said driving Chloe's mind crazy. The words he spoke were just simple words but to a girl who has dreamt of hearing those words for all her life, it took her to the moon and back.

'People speak the truth when they are either intoxicated or angry. Does this mean that he does consider me to be his wife?' she asked herself in her mind.

"I want you," he said and she became breathless. Her heart thumped in her chest so loudly that she was sure that he could hear it. She gazed into his eyes and held his gaze, all the words that she has always wanted to hear him say. All the feelings she has always yearned for him to ignite in her were coming true. Bundles of joy burst within her and tears of joy flowed down her cheeks.

Adam reached out and wiped her tears and away, he held her face in his hand and spoke," Tears don't look good in such a beautiful face. Only a smile does."

His words were like magic, Chloe felt like she was floating in the air. Spasm of joy filled her whole body. They stared at each other neither of them wanting to break the contact. "But you don't even love me," she said subconsciously.

"Love flows not in a lover's words but eyes. Look into my eyes and tell me that you don't see love in them for you," he whispered in her ear. His hot breath hitting her skin sent shivers down Chloe's spine. Her eyes glowed with pure bliss and she grabbed hold of Adam's shirt.

All the love and affection he was showering on her was making her dizzy. Her doubts about him faded as a smile appeared on her face, she looked at him never wanting to let go. She wished for the night to never end and that Adam should always say such sweet things to her. Her faith in her love for him got stronger and now she did not doubt that she could make a marriage work. She had faith in making her relationship with him be more than just on paper.

"I can't see it," she said in a teasing manner. Adam seized her face and brought it close to his, there was little to no distance between them. Their lips were almost touching. "Then look carefully," he instructed.

The position they were in was driving Chloe out of her mind. She was slowly losing her senses, she stared at his lips. Even though she couldn't see them she had a vivid memory of them in her mind. She wished for him to cover the little distance between them and kiss her.

"My eyes are up here," he said making her look into her eyes. "But I have a feeling that you care more about my lips than the love in my eyes," he teased and her face flushed. She hid her face in his chest afraid he will see her blushing, forgetting that they were in darkness.

"I should turn on the lights, I want to see the color of your face," he said and reached for the light switch. "Don't," Chloe whispered in his chest. He shivered when her hot breath hit his chest. He felt his desire flicker to life, he brought his hand back to her face.

"Tell me do you like me?" he asked.

She opened her mouth to reply to his question, he took advantage of this opportunity and kissed. Her eyes widen with shock and surprise. "Close your eyes," he reminded her capturing her lips again.

She closed her eyes and embraced the kiss. It was a passionate kiss that made her shudder. She arched her back and moaned. His inhibitions were lowering hearing her moan with pleasure. He broke the kiss and both of them panted for breath.

"I love you, Chloe," he whispered and closed his eyes, and fell asleep.
