003~The hand of death to live

Cold beads of sweat trickled down Sydney's face as she turned to see the stranger who had called out her name. But his face was still covered with his black hat. She began retreating toward the back door slowly. Fear impeded her mouth from saying anything and every nerve and muscle in her body ached her to run away from this stranger. Something didn't sit well with her concerning him. The smell of blood oozing from him was pungent enough to make her throw up. Who was he?

"You can neither run, girl, nor can you hide. The Order of the Blue Moon are out for you so it's better you come with us quietly." He growled. When his eyes turned to her, they glistened bright red. Sydney gasped and that was when the last nerve in her head snapped. She ran out, not minding if anything was to happen to her.

"Why is this happening to me?" She cried, her vision becoming blurry. She wiped her tears as she kept on running. The weather wasn't favourable as it had began to rain heavily, making it difficult to see. She looked back and saw the man in fast pursuit after her. He wasn't running like a normal werewolf. He was faster than that. When he dived to grab her, she maneuvered and changed tracks swiftly into an alley, causing the man to fall to the ground. He groaned and stood up immediately. His clothes were soiled in mud and that infuriated him.

"Now you've done it, little girl!" He sneered as he removed his hat and his coat. Sydney didn't know what to do. Her heavy breathing echoed in her ear and her head began to spin. Running out of energy, she twisted her ankle and fell to the ground, very close to a trash can. Its content spilled on her but that was the least of her problems. The man approaching her came with a murderous intent.

'Is this how I'm going to die? What about Esma?' She began to see reflections of her and her sister, playing on the sandy beach while their mother sat far, watching them with visible glee.

Her eyes were too heavy to see anything, coupled with the heavy rain that hit the earth with its brutality. But she could see his well lit up pink dangerous pupils that threatened to tear out her soul. When he charged at her, she screamed and covered her face. She waited to be unalived by the mysterious being but nothing happened to her. She frightfully brought her hands down from her face to see the man in a frozen state.

'Did I do that too?' She questioned. 'What am I?'

When she thought everything was done and over, another person appeared from behind the frozen man. His aura seemed more deadly than the last man. With the mindset of escaping this one too, she tried to stand up but only ended up squealing in pain. She had forgotten her ankle was twisted and needed healing.

"Please, don't kill me. I haven't done anything." She pleaded but they were futile. The second coated man kept taking slow predatory steps toward her, causing her to shift back in fear. Her back hit an end and when she looked up, she saw a high wall. She knew deep down that there was no escape for her this time.

The spell on the first man was beginning to wear off and that bothered her. Escaping one was hell, not to talk of two. Her survival instinct kicked in again but it was too late.

"Stop!" The man commanded in a low tone, inducing immobility in her. She couldn't even speak. She could only watch him walk close to her.

"Do you want me to kill him?" He asked her out of the blue. If she could move, her eyes would have widened in shock. His voice was frigid but soothing at the same time.

"The Order of the Blue Moon..." He whispered.

"What could they possibly want with you?" He tilted his head, hoping to read the mind of the frozen intruder but his mind seemed to be blocked by some powerful spell. His freezing spell on the man was wearing off quickly but he wasn't bothered. However, Sydney was.

"Hope you enjoyed your journey, little bride." She could discern the tint of mockery in his voice.

"You really did think luck was on your side. How pathetic. The world is not that nice, girl." He scoffed and bent down. He could read the unending questions through her eyes.

"Did you really think you could run away from your fate, huh little bride?" He touched her chin. She could see only his bloodthirsty red pupils that shone brightly in the dark alley.

"You're very stupid to think people would help you for free. The man on the train who helped with accommodation, a cloth, some money and some advice, the old lady who accommodated you, and the man who employed you, it was all my doing, blue eyes."

The discovery shook her little world, throwing it into chaos.

"That's right, blue eyes. You were playing right into my trap. But then again, you're just a naive little girl who knows nothing about this world." He chuckled.

"This guy here is out for you. The moment I step away, he'll make you go through hell. Do you want that?" He inquired.

"You can speak now." The spell on her broke and she let out a relieving breath.

"All you have to do is agree to marry me and I will save you. Put in mind that I'm the only one who can save you right now and even in the future."

"What nonsense are you spewing? Why would I want to get married to someone I've never met before?" She didn't know when those words left her mouth but she didn't regret it either.

"Man... I should have left Brook to find you. You're such a headache." He stood up and stepped away.

'Wait, is he the alpha I'm supposed to get married to?'

The spell on the other guy broke and he continued charging toward her.

"Fine!" She screamed, causing the alpha to stop the man in his tracks. He was very close to touching Sydney and that scared the life out of her. The rain had dealt so much with her while she was frozen, influencing her staggering speech.

"I'll... Marry... You..." She stammered. Right in her front, the man broke into pieces and disappeared into the thin air.

"Wise decision, little blue." He extended his hands to her and she reluctantly took it.

"Congratulations. You just took the hands of death to save your life."

"Welcome to hell, little blue bride."
