Chapter 12: Delivery
A few seconds later, Lu Yuan unhesitatingly allocated his skill point to "Absolute Focus."
"Absolute Focus" instantly advanced from level 1 to level 2. Currently, Lu Yuan possessed several skills under the "Fighter" profession: Basic Body Conditioning, Fundamental Boxing, and the basic leg technique he comprehended today.
Before reaching level 3, experience points were relatively easy to accumulate.
In two or three days, he could raise a skill from level 1 to level 2.
The experience points needed to go from level 2 to level 3 doubled, and the difficulty increased slightly. However, within a week at most, Lu Yuan could achieve it.
Trading a precious skill point for saving three to five days? It was not worth it; it was a waste of skill points.
Therefore, Lu Yuan chose to enhance the only core skill he had at the current stage – "Absolute Focus."
"It seems that the improvement of core skills relies solely on skill points because there is no experience displayed beneath core skills."
"Mom, I'm done eating."
Lu Yuan hastily finished the last bits of his meal, stood up, and said to his mother, Zheng Qiuling.
He was eager to test the effects of level 2 "Absolute Focus."
"Are you full? If not, eat a bit more. After finishing, just leave the dishes in the sink; I'll wash them together tonight."
"I understand."
Just as Lu Yuan was about to head to the back door, a customer suddenly entered the shop.
"Five bags of rice, two bags of flour, salt, peanut oil, and soy sauce."
The customer was a sixty-year-old lady who quickly bought a large quantity of items.
Lu Yuan found her somewhat familiar, possibly living nearby.
Initially planning to go upstairs, he involuntarily stopped.
"Why buy so much? Are you hosting an event at home?"
This purchase from the elderly lady was substantial, and Lu Yuan's mother seemed in a good mood.
After swiftly preparing the items, she couldn't resist asking, "Haven't you been following the news? There have been frequent disappearances in the western part of the city."
The old lady looked worried and replied, "I thought I should stock up on things, so my family can avoid going out as much as possible."
Zheng Qiuling's expression turned serious upon hearing this. "Indeed, this morning when I was watching the shop, the police came around asking questions. It seems quite serious."
"Yes, you don't know; the neighboring unit in our building seems to have a missing child."
As the two chatted animatedly, Zheng Qiuling brought over a stool for the elderly lady, and they sat down to chat under the electric fan.
Listening from the side, Lu Yuan understood the news from the old lady was probably not entirely accurate and mostly gossip.
Seeing his mother engaged in conversation, Lu Yuan decided to go upstairs. By the time he sat in the living room and came back down, the gossip exchange was over.
His mother was discussing delivery matters with the old lady.
"How about I send someone to deliver your goods later? Just leave your address and phone number."
"When will 'later' be?"
"At the latest, six or seven; I'll make sure it's delivered."
"Mom."
Lu Yuan interrupted their conversation and said, "I can go; I'm free right now."
"You?"
Zheng Qiuling glanced at the large pile of rice, flour, and cooking oil at the shop entrance, hesitating. "Can you handle it? There's quite a bit of stuff."
"Don't worry, I've been training during this time."
Lu Yuan went to grab the keys hanging on the wall himself. "The car is in the backyard, right?"
"Yes."
Zheng Qiuling nodded, but couldn't help asking, "Lu Yuan, are you sure? Why not wait for your dad to come back from the hospital tonight; he can do the delivery."
"No need."
Lu Yuan had already entered the stairwell through the back door.
Walking through the corridor, he saw an electric tricycle parked in the shaded area of the backyard.
After graduating from university in his previous life, Lu Yuan worked in delivery for a while, so he was skilled at handling electric tricycles.
Effortlessly, he rolled the vehicle out from the yard and parked it in front of the family's small shop.
The next step was to load the goods onto the vehicle.
This was the part Zheng Qiuling was most worried about. However, her concerns vanished as Lu Yuan effortlessly tossed several fifty-kilogram bags of rice onto the tricycle.
"Young man, you're considerate and good-looking. Madam, you've raised a fine son!"
The old lady praised Lu Yuan, and Zheng Qiuling smiled with satisfaction.
"He's doing well in his studies too. Always ranking high in class."
"Impressive!"
After loading everything onto the tricycle and helping the old lady onto the seat, Lu Yuan greeted Zheng Qiuling, twisted the throttle, and left.
"Be careful; drive slowly."
Zheng Qiuling shouted as Lu Yuan went on his way.
The place where the old lady lived wasn't far.
He reached there in just two minutes on the electric tricycle.
The only inconvenience was that the old lady lived on the fifth floor, and Lu Yuan had to carry each item upstairs.
After making four or five trips, he successfully delivered the five bags of rice, two bags of flour, and cooking oil.
Lu Yuan felt a bit tired but was pleased.
The effects of the two improvements in his physique were apparent. Although carrying over fifty kilograms of rice felt somewhat heavy, climbing five floors in one go wasn't strenuous at all.
"My current physical condition should be similar to a normal adult male who regularly exercises. Stronger than an average high school student."
Lu Yuan estimated based on his previous intelligence points. 8 points were the normal level for a high school student, 9 points were standard for an adult male, and 10 points marked entry into the "elite" category among ordinary people.
"The 'Student' profession is about to reach level 4, just a few dozen experience points away. 'Fighter' level 2 to level 3 is also progressing quickly. With these two attribute points, passing the formal disciple assessment at the Source Martial Arts School should be very achievable! The future looks promising!"
Lu Yuan briefly fantasized about the future and felt upbeat.
Throwing the empty mineral water bottle into the tricycle's compartment, he quickly headed home.
In the afternoon, Lu Yuan usually set aside two hours for studying.
As the monthly exams approached, the school assignments focused more on review, and there was less homework.
