5. Dungeon guide.

"Why would I want to trust someone like you with my back? I can't even trust you to believe my words, let alone trust you to keep me alive." I tell her seriously. False information is much worse than no information if I do say so myself.

"I apologized for that!" Rose says angrily.

"And I'm supposed to just accept it? Whining about people asking you out, I'm sure it happens to the other guild workers too yet you don't see them taking it out on others. Honestly if I was in your position I probably would have accepted because with an attitude like yours you'll just end up alone for the rest of your life!" I was a person who surely knew how to hold a grudge for being wronged. An apology a day later that was probably forced? Screw that.

Rose recoiled like she was slapped before letting out a growl of fury! "You dare! I don't want to date a stupid adventurer because you all die! Every last one of you run off to get killed in the dungeon and none of you come back!"

I just shrug. "Your insecurities aren't my problem, my problem is going into the dungeon and killing things so that I can come out and have a decent place to sleep, food in my stomach, and clothes on my back. If you can't even believe in the person your teaching to come back alive, how can I believe that you'll put in your best to keep me that way? After all, all you see is just another idiot going off to die in the dungeon. I'm not even a person to you, just a walking corpse!" I tell her with some steel in my voice.

"It's my job..." She starts.

"So keeping me alive is just something you've designated to as a chore you get paid for? Can i have someone else who hasn't given up on hope please?" i ask the guild clerk. "If you don't have anyone here like that then can I have some books to read on my own?"

The clerk looks horrified by the arguement.

"I said I would try..." Rose starts again before I slam my hands on the table.

"I don't need you to try! I need you to do it! So that even if I wanted to die I wouldn't be able to! I want to be able to walk into that dungeon and know exactly what I'm going to face, what it's weaknesses are, and how to kill it. You need to make sure I know what I'm walking into and then I'll make sure that I come out alive and well!" I stare her right in the face, I don't need some depressed guild worker whose previous noobs died with overinflated confidence, I need someone to keep me informed so I don't get over confident and get myself killed. I have a lot going for me with Vincent's abilities alone such as regeneration, increased physical strength and speed, and enhanced reflexes. But I know how it goes! You get arrogant then you get overconfident and then you die!

Rose glares right back. "I can do it!"

"Can you?"

"I can!" She says gaining confidence.

"Fine then do it!" I tell her placing my sword against the wall and sitting down. "What do i need to know to survive."

She glares at me for a second before pulling out some books. "We will start with floor 1, and work our way down. On floor 1 there are only Goblins, most of them show up alone but they can come in groups up to 3. The magic core of a goblin is located in the center of the chest." She starts teaching and the other clerk leaves. "They can be killed like most humanoid creatures, cut off their head, stab them through the brain, stab them through the heart, cut their throats, poison, break their neck. How you do it is up to you."

I make sure to listen intently, even if they are just goblins, still it's best to be informed about everything.

"You also don't have to worry about adventurers on the first couple of floors as they are often patrolled to make sure that there arent criminals hiding out there and yes you do have to worry about other adventures especially if you are traveling alone. It's not uncommon for an adventurer to try to rob someone they deem weaker or lead them into a trap most often via a pass party, where they attract the attention of various monsters and lead them in a large group past unsuspecting adventurers to kill them and then loot the corpses or by using monster bait in an area where a group is hunting. It's illegal to do such a thing but it still happens so be careful of people trying to hunt around you and who you bring with you." She says seriously. "Speaking of that have you decided which familia to join yet? You won't become stronger if you cant absorb the excellia after defeating the monsters in the dungeon and you won't be able to level up."

"I have not, I would prefer to join a smaller familia so I wouldn't have to wait around for status updates like some of the bigger familia do. I would also prefer not to join a troublesome family like the Soma family so I intend to take my time and make a decision." if I recall the Soma family is basically just a family of alcoholics with money problems and the god doesn't care about anything but wine brewing.

Rose nods her head. "A smart choice as it's a life changing decision to join a familia and quite a few things need to be considered, maybe have contracts written up, there are both pros and cons to joining a large or small familia. In a large familia you might gain less attention but get paid more and get more resources plus training experience with higher level members and the safety of a group. But in the smaller familia you would probably get more attention from the god or goddess in charge and have more freedom but they might not have the resources to spend on you so you would have to rely on yourself." Rose adds.

"Do you have a list of what each god or goddess is known for, if they have bad habits or things like that? I would rather not sell myself into slavery or something on accident. I would also like to know what would be a fair contract so I don't get ripped off or exploited." I request.
