From under the dome

After we was done with food. Theia told me that they planning to attack the ruler. I was a little bit confused. If city was already destroyed, what is the reason in this battle. Theia doesn't seem to know anything. We entered the room, where all others was sitting and discussed their plans. And everyone suddenly went silent. Hiro started speaking:

"You have completed your mission and I'm thankful for it. But there is no more reason for you to stay here. And knowing about plans. But it will be great, if you would lead away Theia out of this city."- He spoke, I saw that everyone was stressed. I felt, that Theia wanted to say something, but I stopped her:

"Alright, I'm gonna leave city with Theia today. We just need some time for preparation and rest, and we gonna left immediately."- She wanted to say something, but then changed her mind.

"Daughter, come here."- He put on her some kind of necklace and gave a little pouch with something:

"It's minster's Charon payment."- I look inside of it and there was gold. I nodded, silently turned around and left. Theia followed me.

When we left the room and was in distance. Theia whispered to me:

"Something weird happening."- I put a sign to be quit:

"Everything seems to be fine for me, let's gather some weapons, be ready to leave. But while speaking I pointed at gold and necklace:

"What a beautiful necklace, interesting, how much I can get for it."- And her expression suddenly changed, she understood and started to prepare to leaving. And soon enough we left the bar, We easily avoided the monsters. Because it was dark already. We were close to the sea, we started to enter it and Theia slipped, loosing necklace in the send, I dropped gold too:

"Damn! I lost my gold!" Let's find it!"- And Theia screamed:

"There is monster."- And we ran away. But not out of city, we made a loop and was on the bar's rooftop. And we heard many steps. It's her parents and others, who headed to the town center. We followed them, without being noticed. But oddly enough, they did not meet any monster on their way to the center. Everything was really suspicious. And they did not look worried at all.

They stopped right in front of main gate, which was leading to the main building "Castle". They opened it. It was not weird, because they supposed to have pass for it. We climbed the wall from the roof. What was weird. There was no monsters inside of courtyard too. We wend down and hid behind the bushes. They did not made any sounds or tried to speak. They just walked in the silence. It was easy to follow them, they was confident and never looked around. We entered building right after them. We looked around, the whole castle was made of the purest white marble and fluorescent light bounced off every wall. On the ground, there was red carpet. We followed them, until the throne room. When we entered , it had weird capsules and all people entered them, except Ilene, she head towards the throne and sit there, weird crown came out of the ceiling and was put on her head. Her skin started to turn gray and we heard screams of peoples from capsules. I looked at Theia, and she was as shocked, as I. Her weak and shaky voice was barely audible:

"What... What is happening??? Mom is..."- She did not ended her sentence, didn't wanted to end it and believe what we seeing right now. But sadly, Ilene heard us and let out a gentle sigh and continued with cold empty voice:

"You had only one mission, Sharon. And you failed in the worst way possible. And you, my naughty daughter... I asked you to leave."- She looked aggrieved. She raised her hand and pointed at us. Door behind us closed with loud band and capsules started to open up. And people, who was turned into monster look at us with empty and hungry void inside of their eyes. Even Theia's dad was turned. Theia tried to speak with her mother. But she did not listen to anything that happened. Just closed her eyes and started to hum a melody. My head started to fill that it's gonna explode. Theia catch me up and pain suddenly vanished. But this attack was not targeting me. But monsters. They all screamed in pain and looked at us with even more hunger. And slowly rounded us. I pulled out a grenade and throw to Ilene. And as expected monsters tried to save her. Blowing up. But Theia's father attacked me in the same time, I barely was able to dodge. We safely get read of all monsters, except Theia's parents. Theia rushed towards the throne. Her dad wanted to block her the way, but I caught his attention, by shooting in Ilene. Theia thrusted her sword in Ilene direction, but she caught the sword. Hiro's mouth opened, it was soo big and unnatural and he started to drag me in, but it was great opportunity to throw even more grenades at him, they blew up inside of him. I was ready to run and help Theia, but he started regenerate. He send one wire at me. And I felt that something desolating my heart I throw a knife right into his opened heart. The time stopped, flying knife and regeneration, what is gonna be faster. Knife pierced his heart. And flew out of his body. It's continued to beat even after all this, but seemed like it has no way to regenerate, until knife pulled out. I looked at my chest, there was mark of the wire. But I rushed toward Theia and Ilene, They continue the battle:

"There is no reason to fight, Theia. We are new evolution step and we should clear the world of this trash, it's our grand mission!"

"What are you even talking about? Why you turned yourself into monster, and others were turned by you too???"

"You saw humans hurtful behavior, how they destroy each other and the world. You should understand me better then anyone, because you are my copy in some way."- Ilene just dodger Theia's attacks without any effort.

"I don't understand you position and I don't want to understand it!!!"

"And you telling me out of all creatures, that you don't understand me? It's probably this lowlife mercenary, who infected you with his stupidity!"- And she attacked me, full of rage, using her sharp as obsidian claws. And I protected myself with unhealthy hand. Cutting through the tire, like a knife cut through butter. She pierced my hand to the bone, But Theia attacked in time, forcing Ilene to retreat. I was covered in a cold sweat and my own blood. I felt that I was starting to have a fever. And I felt pain in my head again. With my last will, I raised my gun and fired. It got near her heart, but it was not enough. Luckily she changed her focus on me, preparing to attack again not expecting, that Theia would hit her right into the heart. Ilene put her gray hands on Theia's and smiled:

"Thank you..."- Was her last words, until she vanished into ashes. And when I saw it, I lost my conscious.

The gray giant stand in front of me, looking at the sky. But when I looked at same direction. I saw only dirt. IN every direction was dirt. My attention went back to a gray giant. He turned his white mask at me. And with ancient deep voice addressed to me:

"Ho-ho, ferryman, who carries lost souls, lost himself. How funny. But it's too early for that. Not satisfying enough!"- And he laugh even harder. What caused the dissonance, because his eyes behind the mask was saddest, I ever saw. And he continued his speech:

"You see, this meaningless world gets meaning, only by actions of peoples like you. It's becoming more entertaining. And creating reason to it existence."- I tried to tell him that he bears nonsense. But my mouth won't make any sound. He looked at me and laugh even more not holding back and clutching his stomach:

"Poor thing, don't understand your own place."- And then his sight changed, he was scared. The light illuminated every corner of this dark cave and I wake up. I was in the the car and I felt, that I was taken somewhere in the car. I tried to speak and my voice was heard through dryness. Car stopped and I saw that Theia looked at me from the front seat. She looked tired and had huge bags under the eyes:

"Charon... You are alive."-She smiled.

"I'm sorry..."- But she smiled even more.

"It's not your fault. But if you really feeling sorry, let's take as much missions, as we can, together."- I felt sadness in her voice, but she masked it fast.

"Deal, but where are we going?"-I asked a question while getting up.

"To the dawn."- She answered and showed me sun, rising from the horizon and pushing back the darkness far, behind our backs. I was fascinated by the beautiful picture unfolding before my eyes. But even more light came from Theia. She is first, who survived being close to the Charon, the ferryman of the lost souls.

And our car continued to move towards the sun...
