Alexis woke up with a groan before she took off her helmet, took out the coms and placed it on her ear before she threw it, the visor was all cracked anyways so it was useless besides the coms. "Who's still with me?" Carlos said as he stumbled out of the cockpit and walked to the young girl, he checked her over. "Me and Alexis are good" David said with a groan as he walked over to Carlos with Alexis following suit. "Good, we have to get out of here. David take the girl, me and Alexis will keep both of you safe" Carlos said as he tossed a SMG to Alexis which caught it, David undid the harness that held Emily before picking her up. "Were too sir?" Alexis asked as she hoped to the road, Carlos thought for a minute before saying "let's try the military foothold about a few miles north of here since were on the outskirts now" as he himself hopped down, then fellowed by David. The squad walked though the streets moving building to building careful to not be sniped again, "hey boss....I have a question" David said as they walked "shoot Lieutenant" Carlos said as he looked over his shoulder "have we lost reach? I mean look around..." David asked, Carlos remained silent as they walked before Alexis answered "we have, but it'll be the fuel to make the blaze grow brighter" Carlos simply just nodded at that. The four humans walked though the streets in a haste in order to not be caught in the open. Shortly the squad approached a military checkpoint that was over ran, walking though it they realized it was a massacre. "Big covie force came though here" David pointed out as he looked at the plasma scorched walls and side walk, "it looks like they came from both sides, no were to run" David added. Alexis dug through the rubble until she came across a armor lock ability. "Sir, I have a idea..." Alexis said as she pulled the AL out of the rubble, Carlos walked over and asked "what is it?" "I might be able to mod this armor lock and divert power to one of our shield's, it wouldn't be too difficult" Alexis said as she looked at Carlos, turning around Carlos took a knee and said "do it, but on me. These things were made for Spartan use not for us"

It only took a few minutes before Alexis finished. A yellow shield pulsed across Carlos before he stood up, he looked at Alexis and said "you've definitely did a good job Alexis...my shielding is a little over a Spartans if I'm reading this right" "and it's unstable, if you're shield breaks I don't know what could happen, for all I know the AL could explode" Alexis said as she stood up. Carlos walked over to a MG and tore it off of its posting saying "still should come in handy". The squad and civi would start to move again, this time Carlos taking point.

Eventually they reached a big wall like building on the edge of the city, lined with elevators of different sizes. "We have to go up" Alexis said as she entered the wall like building, eventually making her way to a elevator. Once there she pressed the elevator button, calling it, as they finally started to relax they heard a sound they knew all too well, the sound of a phantom, or perhaps four. Alexis looked at Emily and said "stay here" before the three rushed to the entrance before raising their weapons, looking outside they saw the four phantoms start to unload their payload of white elites and grunts, Carlos started to fire at the hord before the other two. Killing six grunts Carlos screamed "GET IN LINE" as Alexis took out two minor elites, their blood splattering across their comrades. Carlos looked over his shoulder after seeing more phantoms coming in "David, go check for the elevator" he said before David nodded and walked away. Alexis continued to fire before she said "I'm on my last mag" "leave me, I'll hold them off for as long as I can" Carlos said in a monotone voice.

"Excuse me?" Alexis asked as she slammed another mag into her SMG and started firing. "Leave me, that's a order" Carlos said as his MG started to rip though the covies, he looked at her over his shoulder before she said "I'm not going to leave you" Carlos sighed before saying "go now trooper! It's the only way for you guys to get out of here" Alexis stared at Carlos before nodding and said "y-yes sir" she then turned and started to walk before she said "I'll see you on the other side" as she shot the control panel to the blast door, it slowly shut as the two looked at each other one last time.

David came rushing up as the door shut before saying "where's Carlos?" As he looked at Alexis, the desperation in his voice was clear. "He decided to stay behind let's go" Alexis said as she started to walk down the hall, David pushed her saying "we are not leaving him!" The two got onto the elevator with Emily and pressed the up button, as they made their way up they saw Carlos firing his MG below, then suddenly his armor breaks and a small flash of light accorded, Alexis just looked away not wanting to see the scene.
