Phoenix’s POV.
“Nix wake up…” The voice called to me pulling me from the darkness of my subconscious.
I fought against it with everything inside of me. I didn’t want to leave Adel. I had just gotten some semblance of her back. I had just promised that nothing would pull me away from her, and here I was being unwillingly forced away from my mate.
“Nix.” The voice called me, demanding me to obey it.
My eyes were heavy, weighed down by an invisible weight as I fought against them to open. Finally, with great effort, I was able to crack one lid open, as the blinding light blurred my vision, hovering shapes one directly over me, and slowly came into focus.
“I told you this was dangerous, child.” An angry older voice that rang familiar to me scolded the voice that called to me,
“I know, but it’s growing too dangerous to keep him in there any longer, Grandmother.”
