For Eternity

The year following Katerina's betrayal was ... quite eventful.

For starters, Nadedja didn't die.

A few hours after she'd been stabbed in the heart by her own sister, Nadedja had gasped awake, more than confused by her surroundings.

"... Mama?" Nadedja whispered in the small room, looking at the older woman who had on a relieved smile.

Mrs. Petrova rushed over to her daughter, taking her in her arms, her heart relieved. "Nadedja! Oh, my beautiful daughter, you are truly alive."

Breathing in her mother's scent, something unexpected happened to Nadedja — She was hungry ... and not for human food.

The young woman felt something change on her face and breathed in the mouthwatering aroma that exuded from her mother before she suddenly snapped out of it.

Nadedja backed away, breathing hard as she tried to control her urges—the predominent one being the disturbing urge to drain her mother of her blood.

Before Mrs. Petrova could explain what was happening to her daughter, a young maid knocked on the door, entering the tense room and inadvertently, walking into her death.

Nadedja rushed towards the maid, giving in to her urges and drinking, and drinking, and drinking ... until the maid's body limply fell to the ground. Nadedja turned around to her mother, her hands shakily wiping at the blood.

"What's happening to me? Mama! Help me ... What's happening?!"

That night, Nadedja learned she wasn't alone. There were more people like her — werewolves, vampires. The supernatural world as she knew it had only touched the surface of things.

That night, she learned how her human body couldn't adapt to the high-level spells she practiced since young so her mother walked into a loose alliance with a vampire and had fed Nadedja vampire blood in her milk everyday, to keep her alive.

That night, Nadedja also learned her mother had felt Katerina's betrayal happening, and though it broke her heart, the mother had to choose one of her daughter's side — Nadedja's.

That night, the seed of hatred that had appeared because of Katerina's knife cursed through Nadedja's veins. Yes ... In time, Katerina would get her due punishment.

England, 15th century.

A year after she'd become a hybrid of a witch and a vampire, Nadedja watched from afar as Katerina mixed with two powerful English noblemen — Niklaus and Elijah Mikaelson — the other Petrova unaware that her life was in danger.

Her mind clouded with hatred, Nadedja ignored the intense pull she felt as soon as she swept eyes on the Mikaelson pair of brothers.

A small smirk touched Nadedja's lips as Elijah received the elixir she'd sent through another witch. The elixir could save the doppelgänger's life, but knowing her sister, she expected Katerina to only make matters worse for herself.

Sure enough, Katerina didn't wait to hear what solution Elijah had brought to save her, only fleeing and pulling down two more vampires with her as she turned herself into a vampire.

"Pity," Nadedja gave a half shrug as she stood next to her duchess friend.

She would have greatly appreciated to see Niklaus draining her sister of her blood.

Niklaus and Elijah Mikaelson were The Old World, as those in her world called them. Members of the Original family — from them, all vampires were created.

These siblings were very powerful and though Nadedja was sure she could hold her own if confronted, she preferred to observe the show from the sidelines ... for now.

Late 19th century, Mystic Falls.

Wearing a dark velvet mask that only revealed her clear eyes, Nadja Pierce was in an important meeting.

A meeting of ignorant people she had managed to charm to her cause ... said cause being the constant misery of her dear sister.

Somewhere between the 16th and 19th century where she'd remained mainly in England, Nadedja had changed her name Nadja Pierce — aware her sister had done the same, changing her name from Katerina Petrova to Katherine Pierce.

Now, Nadja listened to the final plans of Giuseppe Salvatore, the father of the two boys Katherine had taken a fancy to.

Katherine had become very complacent. She believed that because she had successfully run from Niklaus and Elijah, as well as Nadja (After Katerina had their family slaughtered, Nadedja had told her the next time they saw each other would be the last), she could be idle and live a free life with her boy toys.

"Your plan is very well-prepared, Mr. Salvatore," Nadja said in the British accent she couldn't seem to shake after centuries spent in England. "I have to applaud your vision."

Her words held praise but deep on the inside, Nadja was laughing at the buffoon.

She had been the one to show this Council how to grow vervain and to guide them on what they could do to find vampires.

All surface level tricks, of course, since she herself was a hybrid. What she showed the Council would only allow them to spot vampires who didn't own daylight jewelry and could not fool the humans during the day.

From a hidden spot in the Mystic Falls woods, Nadja watched as Katherine exchanged the moonstone she'd stolen from Klaus, giving it to the young George Lockwood to fake her capture in the tomb before she promptly fled.

"Well played, Katerina," Nadja mused under her breath. "Unfortunately for you, your luck is quickly running out."

Nadedja had promised herself two things when she woke again after the betrayal — she would live her life under her own rules, and she would torment her sister ... for eternity.
