CHAPTER 7 What a fine lad

The scene changes to Naomi's birthday party and her son wasn't even present. After giving her the dress, he helped with the organising and since Sam has been working with his family for a long time, he is more like an uncle to him. He couldn't watch him do all the work on his own. Now he is fast asleep in his room because he has not gotten any rest at all. He had no idea that Sam has been knocking for about 2 hours now. Naomi was outside greeting guests and making sure that everything was in check. She had very wealthy friends who came along with other friends and their daughters which she hated for an unknown reason. She didn't like her son talking to any girl at all no matter how beautiful and talented she was.

Rumours started spreading in the neighbourhood that her son was gay, or he was impotent and so no girl wanted him . Others said that her beauty was generated because her son never got married or found a woman and a few said her fear was that her only boy would fall in love with a girl and leave her . Nonetheless, these are all rumours and Naomi's reply was always silly upon hearing them. She would say ''Oh my but if I needed him unmarried in order to remain beautiful,won't he have to get married and have a son in order to remain handsome himself?'' while laughing so hard. Back at the party, she smiled brightly and her beauty was recognised by all especially because she had red lipstick on. She whispered to Sam without turning her head in his direction, looking straight ahead. Where is he? Please madam I have knocked on his door several times but he is not answering. I'm pretty sure he's asleep. She looks alarmed and asks, is my locket hanging on his door? Yes madam it is. I saw it even when I was leaving to come to meet you here.

She sighed and continued to smile as she saw her very good friend approaching.[FRIEND]Happy 16th birthday my lovely friend because that's the age your face gives. She says while handing a bottle of expensive wine to her.[NAOMI] Oh stop it, Ray, if I am 16 then you should be 12 with an outburst from both ladies. And what is this, my ex-favourite bottle of wine? I could never take my hands off these.[FRIEND] ex-favourite? She says with a confused look. Well, what is your favourite now? Well, you see darling, I need to make sure I maintain my youthful glow hence I made a very honest decision and vowed never to taste a drop of alcohol till my last breath. She says with a proud look while slightly raising her shoulder.[FRIEND] Oh I see. At least it remained your favourite till the very end therefore it's still considered a gift. Why of course Naomi replied.[FRIEND] Anyway, I would like you to meet my daughter . Annalise say hi. A young pretty lady showed up from behind Ray's back as if she was hiding.
