Chapter 1
Everyone had gathered at the edge of the waterfall. The people looked down and hungry. It had been a horrible past three months. All the food in the country was finished . Even the palace had completely run out of food. The ancient city of Genre had never experienced such a famine. All the waterholes, rivers and lakes had completely dried up. The fish had rot and the once thriving green valleys of the land were a deathly brown. The trees had lost all their leaves and not a single fruit was seen though it was fruit season. The children were skinny and the men overworked and powerless. Now the whole country had gathered near the edge of the water falls which was the last source of water in the country as requested by the king Sumaga. They looked to him for hope for this drought was not ordinary. Nobody could leave the country for a powerful force stopped anyone from leaving or coming in. The masses if hungry citizens stood before the platform where the king was delivering his speech. King Sumaga was a well built man but with a kind jolly face but the last three months had eaten him away and now he stood weak and frail looking much older than he actually was, "People of Genre, Brothers and sisters I stand here ashamed. Since the beginning of time through the reigns of my fore fathers, such a calamity has never fallen on our beloved country but I have let my people and my ancestors down. As I see the suffering all around me I look for a way out but such has been hidden from us.., our fate seems to have been sealed." The king coughed and his frail body swayed. The people could feel the pain and the hint if regret in the kings voice. All would agree that Sumaga had been a good Kung. He had always been fair kind and just, they harbored no hate against him. In fact Sumaga was one if the most famous kings in their region. Sumaga kept composure then opted to continue his speech. He looked at the masses of peopl as far as the eye could see and he felt pain in his heart. His people were perishing. He cleared his voice but before he could say anything a strong swirling gust of wind past through the masses if people pushing them on either side. The mini whirlwind tore across the people heading straight to the platform where the king was. As it proceeded closer it brought dark clouds blocking the sun and a coldness that made every one shudder, the guard quickly tried to protect the king but they were too slow and the whirlwind reached before them throwing them off the stage. The whirlwind stopped beside King Sumaga. He took a step back as the whirl wind cleared. There before him stood a tall hunched back man wearing a black robe and a black sorcerers rod. The women held their children close and husbands their wives. They felt the coldness around them and suddenly a sense of fear creeped into their hearts. They knew who the black dressed figure was... They all knew. His name was Amangi the sorcerer. Amangi smiled wickedly showing a pair or rotten yellow teeth. He had one red eye and the other was brown, " there is no way out for your rotten souls," he sneered wickedly, " you are all going to die!" He laughed as he looked upon the masses of women and children, " you poor souls," he laughed again, quite amused. " please, wise one, tell us what we should do to change our fate!" Sumaga pleaded. Amangi laughed again, his red eye seemed to get redder, " there is no redemption for you!"he said in a crooked voice. But before he could continue a bolt of lightening struck him. Sumaga was thrown off the platform due to the energy and the people took a step back screaming in surprise. They looked back at the platform to where Amangi was standing but there was no hunched back old man standing there instead there was a tall handsome and masculine man with hair as golden as the purest gold and eyes bluer than the ocean. His clothes sparkled like a thousand stars and his voice was as deep as an erupting volcano. " I am the god Malekani, I have punished you because you do not serve me after all I have done for you. I gave you food, water and endless victories but not once did you show gratitude to the life I have given you. In three days I will open up the heavens and fire will rain upon you and the earth will break beneath your very feet and devour you for you are hers," the peopls shivered at his word, "but there is redemption for you. If one of you will sacrifice th selves for the sake if the country by throwing themselves into that waterfall before the evening of the third day, I will spear you all. But this person must be willing and pure. You have but only three days." Having said that he stretched his hand toward the waterfall and the only clear water they had turned a deep bloody red and from nowhere jagged rocks sprouted up from the bottom so that it looked like an entrance to hell. After all this happened another bolt of lightening hit and the shiny figure disappeared and Amangi lay sprawled on the floor. Sumaga payed no attention to him as he climbed up to the platform and continued his speech, "so my people, we have been given a way out... But whose going to be our redemption?"
