We're Even

The next day, Jiang Nian woke up and got a phone call from the department head. There was an accident and they're short on people.

Jiang Nian quickly got dressed and went out.

Jiang Nian left her car at the hospital two days ago since her dad went to pick her up from work. She then spots Liang You Jin walking out. Jiang Nian doesn't have any other choice but to go up to him.

"Liang You Jin, drive me to the hospital." She said to him in a rush.

"That's how you ask people?" he looks at her and didn't move.

Jiang Nian changed her tone and smiled at him. "Can you please drive me to the hospital?" Jiang Nian puts her hand together and looks at him.

Liang You Jin looks at her, "See that's how it should be done. Get in."

Jiang Nian glares at him and got in his jeep.

Inside the car, Liang You Jin drives his car and Jiang Nian looks out the window.

"How long are you staying?" Jiang Nian spoke up but still looks out the window.

Liang You Jin gives her a glance and smiles. "Two weeks. Why? You want to see me?" He said with a teasing tone.

"Who wants to see you! I'm just asking so I know when to not see you." Jiang Nian said and didn't look at him.

Liang You Jin didn't say anything else and focuses on the road.

They arrived outside the hospital and as Jiang Nian was about to get out of the car, she takes something out of her bag.

Liang You Jin quickly caught the thing she threw at him.

"What is this?" he said.

"Pain relieving patch."

Liang You Jin looks at her with some disbelief but gives a smile. "For me?" He asks her.

Jiang Nian kinda regrets giving it to him. She coughs a little and then explains. "Yesterday while you were driving, I notice the bruise on your wrist. If you don't want it then give it back." She said with her face beating red.

Jiang Nian wants to dig a hole right now.

As she's about to reach it and get it back, Liang You Jing didn't give her.

"Well, thanks." He smiles at her.

Jiang Nian didn't know what to say. "Thanks for the ride. I'll get going now." She got out of the car and closes the door. Liang You Jin watches her as she went into the ER.

He looks down at the box and smiles. He puts it on the side and starts driving.

Five hours have passed------

"Jiang Nian, go check bed four and monitor him."

As Jiang Nian was about to rest, Dr. Zhong came in and told her to check on a patient. Jiang Nian drank her last sip of water and went.

A few hours have passed and Shu Jin came down to the ER to look for Jiang Nian.

"Where's Jiang Nian?" she asks the nurse.

"Dr. Jiang is in room 5."

Shu Jin walks over to room 5 and saw Jiang Nian checking on a patient. She slightly knocks on the door. Jiang Nian heard the knock and turns around seeing Shu Jin walking up to her.

"Dr. Liang? Why are you here?" She asks her.

"Did you eat lunch yet?"

Jiang Nian shakes her head.

"Let's go eat," Shu Jin said with a smile and grabs her hand.

"I can't. I still have to check on the patient until he wakes up."

"The nurse can do that. It's been how long?" Shu Jin checks the time and it's almost 5 pm.

"Look at the time right now. If you don't eat now, your stomach will not like it."

Jiang Nian has stomach problems. So she has to eat on time, but because she works in the ER, her eating schedule is always not set.

Shu Jin would time to time check on her since she's her mother's friend.

Jiang Nian didn't argue and told a nurse to monitor her.

They went to the hospital cafeteria. Lunchtime was over already, but since Shu Jin is the chief physician and knows the worker, she told them to cook a few dishes.

Jiang Nian pour two cups of warm water and sat down across from Shu Jin.

"Shu Jin Ah Yi, why didn't you eat yet?" Jiang Nian asks. She knows that usually Shu Jin eats on time and doesn't skip meals.

"Today there was a patient and I need to follow up on it. So it took some time."

The food then came and both of them started to eat.

"Nian Nian, what time do you get off work today?" Shu Jin asks.

"I have night shifts today." Jiang Nian wants to go home too, but she can't.

Shu Jin nods and eats her food. "Want me to tell You Jin to pick you up from the hospital tomorrow morning?"

Jiang Nian was drinking her soup and she choked herself when she heard that. She quickly use her hand to stop Shu Jin from saying it.

"Shu Jin Ah Yi, It's fine. I can just drive back home tomorrow. Don't need to bother." Jiang Nian explains and wipes soup from her face.

"It's no trouble. I'm a doctor myself too and I know how tired we get after a night shift. Plus, your mom told me to look after you. Just listen to me and I'll tell You Jin to pick you up tomorrow." Shu Jin said without giving her a chance to reject.

Jiang Nian has nothing to say but nods.

The next day,

Jiang Nian woke up from the dormitory room. Yesterday she stayed up and only slept for an hour.

Jiang Nian takes a big stretch and grabs her stuff. She cracks her head and walks out of the hospital. As Jiang Nian is about to walk over to her car, she hears a beep.

Jiang Nian looks over and saw Liang You Jin.

How can she forget? Jiang Nian takes two deep breaths and walks up to him.

"Good Morning. Why are you here?" She asks him and pretends not to know that Shu Jin Ah Yi asks him to pick her up.

"I drove my mom to work and she told me to wait for you. Get in," he said and rolls back the window up.

Jiang Nian was going to say it's okay, but just like yesterday, she didn't get a chance to say it.

She got in the passenger seat and Liang You Jin starts driving.

"Want to eat something?" he asks her while driving.

Jiang Nian shakes her head. "I just want to go home and sleep." Without saying anything else, Jiang Nian lays her head by the window and closes her eyes.

That one hour's sleep wasn't enough and she's too tired to keep her eyes open any longer.

Liang You Jin didn't say anything and drives steadily.
