Chapter 41: Sacrifice and Reward
Kyon POV
He might have threatened to injure Marcus, but when the man stupidly slammed himself against the bars and his skin tore, Kyon’s heart plummeted. What was the fool thinking? Was THIS his reckless bid to win Azandra? Or had he simply taken it upon himself to try and escape?
No time to ponder it now. He was too busy helping Azandra hold Marcus’ quivering body upright. Marcus coughed and gasped, moaning in pain. A sheen of sweat covered his skin. His head thrashed from side to side. Holding him felt like trying to wrestle a young dragon.
Kyon muttered to Marcus, “You idiot. Stay with us. Do NOT die on us.”
