Sabotaging a rival through good deeds. That was a new one. It was easy to fight someone who ruined one of your prized possessions or spread vicious rumors about you or tried to make you appear foolish. But doing good deeds to paint someone else in a bad light? That had to be one for the history books.
Azandra hugged him tightly, pressing against him. “If he did this, then it’s a stain on him. You’ve behaved admirably with him.” She stepped back. “I can–”
“No. He did it to me.”
“US, you half-wit. And I was ready to explode. You know how I am about incense burners … I’m strange that way, considering my job.”
“Yes, but you’re allowed to be … you’re a Cresta.”
He nearly said what was in his heart, but he held back.
