Chapter 28: Heart to Heart
Azandra POV
“Ask me so there is absolutely no doubt between us.”
He took a deep breath. “Did you and Dane kiss each other last night?”
Azandra gripped her wooden leaf necklace. “No. We didn’t. We hugged because a certain person wanted to talk to me and Dane was shielding me from him. I swear on the Moon Goddess.”
Kyon’s eyes filled with understanding, immediately knowing she was talking about Marcus. “I believe you.”
But his voice trembled and he looked away for a brief instant. She sensed something nipping at him.
Doubt. Fear.
No time for this. Her patient needed her. “Weather? Try to sit up now.”
Weather sat up and got to her feet with more strength and grace since they started working on her yesterday. Azandra turned to her, feeling a little guilty that her problems intruded. Her eyes flared, her wolf sight and her crystals detecting no further energy clinging to Weather, or Kyon. Did any other victim experience this? She needed to ask them.
“Weather, are you alright?”
