Chapter 2

•Benjamin Walker•

As I moved my eyes to thank the waiter, my eyes widened slightly at the sight of the worker that had been helping us for the past hours. It was Kyle. His face turned into a pit of confusion at the sight of us there, but as soon as his mind seemed to register who we were he quickly muttered an 'enjoy' and then left as fast as he had come.

I must have been staring at his figure for the past five minutes, consequently, Brodie punched my shoulder, making me hiss as I snapped out of thought and rubbed the spot. I glared at him slightly before he chuckled. "I knew you would like the place" he teased, and I found the comment more annoying than what he probably intended it to be.

"Why the fuck did you bring me where he works?" I asked in a hushed voice, making his eyebrows shoot up and smile at someone behind me. I turned around, my annoyed expression softening a bit as the person we were talking about stood there with a small notebook in his hand, ready to take our orders. "Right."

Brodie smiled and then shook his head, holding the menu open. "I will take the meat and potato skillet" he said and then glanced at me, when he saw I still hadn't decided what I wanted he talked again "can the meat be close to raw?" he asked. I glanced at Kyle to listen closely.

"It's actually beef, the name is a bit tricky, but if you still want to consider it, then yes, absolutely" he said in a professional way, which made me smile slightly before I went back to deciding what I would take with my best 'professional' face on.

"I will take the Asian fire meat" I said, making the male nod. "Does it come with any sauce?" I asked. Kyle seemed to study my question for a couple of seconds before he shook his head. "Not in the dish, but we can add any sauce as a complement" he explained. I nodded my head almost immediately, and interrupted him when he went to speak, what didn't seem to quite be of his liking. "Do that" I said and he frowned a bit before he nodded and offered a polite smile before he wrote it down and walked away from our table, stopping by another table before heading back to the kitchen. My eyes didn't leave him any time until he disappeared from my sight.

"You are rude" I heard Brodie's voice, making me shift my eyes at him and then smile a bit as he rolled his eyes. I crossed my arms on my chest and leaned back on my chair, shaking my head slightly "I am not" I argued, making him narrow his eyes in a questioning way before he grinned. "Yes you are, you didn't even let the poor kid finish talking" he pointed out.

I glanced around for a bit, "he is not a kid though" I retorted. He cleared his throat, making me sigh a bit and run my fingers through my hair. "Whatever, he probably should just get used to it, I am his boss after all" I said under my breath. "Maybe you are his boss in the building, but not here, this is not your environment to act like a boss, here you are just a customer who is rude and doesn't know how to thank people ''. I snapped my eyes towards him before I scoffed, grunting "Whatever:"

It didn't take long until the male came back and then placed our drinks down, informing us that our food would be out soon. He avoided eye contact with me, but his eyes were fixed on Brodie, who offered him a smile and then nodded his head slightly, making my blood boil in rage. How dare the asshole be flirting with my worker? Sure, I was just his boss but it was clearly not professional.

I wasn't going to admit how bad his treatment made me feel, not only that he interrupted me, but also the fact he was acting like my boss, even though he clearly had no right to do it, since he wasn't the owner of the restaurant. When I came back and I placed the drinks down, it was clear it annoyed him that I wasn't looking at him, I could see his eyebrow twitching in annoyance and his hands turn into fist, grabbing the fabric on his arms.

I saw him muttering something at the other male, but I ran away as soon as I had set the drinks down, not wanting to have to listen to him arguing with his colleague over some bullshit. I went to the bar, my friend grinned a bit as she cleaned the dishes, smiling slightly as she eyed me, as if waiting for an explanation. I narrowed my eyes and just shook my head, deciding there was nothing to explain.

I probably spaced out, because the next thing I knew was that the ringing of the small bell was indicating me to move my ass and get the food that had just come out. So I did just that and then I placed the plates in a tray, carrying them to the table and gently placing them down. I made the mistake of looking at my boss, he was staring at me, and that made my face heat up so fast that I thought I was going to have a nose bleed. I quickly finished placing the other plate down, his friend thanking me. As I made my way away I heard the same man telling Benjamin that he was rude and he was supposed to thank the people that were serving him, at what he answered that everybody was supposed to serve him, and that, made me roll my eyes hard.

"I swear he needs to get dumped, his ego is so big it almost can't fit in his clothes" I said, and almost instantly regretted my word choice, my friend burst out laughing and it took me only a second to understand that 'to fit in his clothes' was almost as close as saying his dick was too big for his underwear. I sighed heavily and then shook my head, smiling a bit, I couldn't blame her for having naughty thoughts, when I had been the one telling him he was too handsome for his own good.

When I was getting ready to leave- I had already changed clothes and I was walking past the tables-, I was called by my friend, I made my way to her and she gave me a smile before she extended her hand and I saw that there was a small folded note there. I narrowed my eyes in suspicion and grabbed it, earning a wink before she went back to doing what she was doing. I didn't have a chance to ask, since my alarm was ringing for me to go home. I sighed and tucked the piece of paper in my pocket, making my way outside and heading home, deciding to read the note there, where alcohol would be waiting in case I needed it.

I hadn't seen the two males leave, but I wasn't too worried since they probably had asked for another waiter. I didn't think too much of it, dropping the small duffle bag on the floor, sighing as I took my jacket off and let it gently on the couch. I pressed my lips together as my stomach grumbled a sign I was hungry from working. I went to the fridge, but the empty racks reminded me I had not gotten the moment to go grocery shopping, and now the stores were closed. I rubbed my temples, getting annoyed at the fact that I had to go buy groceries as soon as possible, and I wasn't getting my paycheck until the next week, which was pretty much shitty. Given both my works gave me the paycheck at the same time. Which I didn't complain about because then I had more money to waste, but it made hard busying things when I needed them. .

I just shut the white door and then grabbed bread, putting butter on it and using that as my temporary meal. I made my way to the couch and as soon as my butt made contact with the soft and plushy red fabric, a moan escaped my throat as If someone had just pounded me. I know, dramatic, but after sitting half the day on a chair that made my ass square and then not sit for the other half f¡of the day it made heaven be little things.

After I recomposed myself I turned the tv on and proceeded to lay down while munching on my food. I didn't notice, but I was soon closing my eyes and drifting into sleep.

The loud noise of the alarm jolted me awake, sitting up, I dropped the controller that had been resting on my stomach, the tv was still on, playing some old black and white drama documentary, so I Shut that off and then stretched while I made my way to the bathroom to get ready. It was still early, so I used that time to go grocery shopping, instead of working out like I usually did. I Got my work clothes on and then headed out, humming silently as I made my way to the store.

Inside, the cool air was so chilly it made me shiver, but I got over it by grabbing a trolley and beginning my way to get the most important things I needed. As I walked around and grabbed things I kept thinking about the previous night shift I had and the encounter with the man that was my boss, even though for me was just a big jerk. I sighed slightly and before I could react, my trolley bumped into someone, making my heart stop instantly, as I silently prayed that it wasn't who I think it was.

"Careful there, we can't have you getting hurt, now, do we?" the voice made me sigh deeply, it wasn't him, but him, "Shopping early I see, what's got you so distracted huh, kiddo?" he asked, and I rolled my eyes "I'm not a kid, okay?" I growled slightly.

"Well, what are you thinking about?" he asked as I began making my way away, It wasn't my boss, so it was okay if I left him there, right? "Brodie I have things to do, okay?" I said annoyed, not wanting to talk to him, afraid that all the words leaving my mouth would be transmitted to the jerk, unless he was already listening, which was a small possibility, but never zero.

•Benjamin Walker•

After yesterday's encounter with my employee at the restaurant, I wanted to know how was he managing to work all day. I wasn't going to ask him directly, but Brodie liked talking to the kid, and I was aware that the kid's store was close to us too, so I had made him out an earpiece in order to talk to him if the remotely small chances we had o encountering him happened.

I had been sitting on the couch with my cargo pants for twenty minutes, and all I could hear was Brodie humming and saying dumb shit as always, but then my eyes shot to the phone that transmitted the audio.

"Careful there, we can't have you getting hurt, now, do we?" Brodie's voice erupted, a teasing tone in his voice. "Shopping early I see, what's got you so distracted huh, kiddo?" he went on, seeming that he was poking a bear with a stick, but instead of a bear it was a puppy, and it was a fork for a stick."I'm not a kid, okay?" the boy's voice finally responded, and I grinned, I had told the male that he wasn't a kid, and apparently the boy reminded him in a not very nice way.

"Well, what are you thinking about?" Brodie asked, I pressed the button quickly to interfere in his words. "That's not what I asked you to know" I said, but of course I didn't get any reply. "Brodie I have things to do, okay?" The pup finally responded, and I heard Brodie gasp under his breath, what made me chuckle a bit as I imagined how offended he probably was.

"Wait so, How come you manage to work all day?" he finally asked the question he was supposed to ask, clearly following the kid around."Well, I need the money, and I thought the paychecks would be different days, but apparently they fall on the same day, so it backfired, but my best friend is there so I don't mind it" I heard the kid say, Brodie didn't answer and shit, even I was speechless. Why would someone work their ass off just for their best friend? "Bye" I heard, and I quickly moved closer to the phone, as if trying to make it rewind or be louder. "What happened?" I asked Brodie, and after a couple of seconds he responded. "He is gay" he blurted out, and the silence followed the room like we were in a cemetery.
