Last Advice

With his limited observations, Ashy could tell that Eclipsed Walker groups were usually made of five people and all five people had one crucial job in the group. So, if one of them were to die, the Eclipsed Walker group may have a greatly harder time than before.

It was obvious that Michy was the tank of the group, Misha was the technician but magical, the Baroness was the main damage dealer, and presumably, the other ones must be the rogue and long-range dealer of the group.

The tank of the group was dead, and the main damage dealer lost her heart.

It was surprising that the Baroness could move even without her heart, however, it seemed that she wasn't in the condition to last longer. Gradually, the speed and strength of her attacks were diminishing rapidly.

Though, 'Harry' wasn't in good condition either. His left hand was cut from the wrist and half of his head right over the eyes was cut cleanly. Though the smile on his face was deeper than before.

The rogue of the group was intentionally getting close to 'Harry' to divert his attention, indirectly becoming the 'tank' of the group.

"Tell me, tell me~ you are not even a daughter of Darkness, just a self-blessed one. So, how are you still alive?"

The long-range dealer pulled the string of his bow, and when he released it, a dark blue arrow flew to 'Harry'. When it was about to pierce his chest, 'Harry' used his hand as a shield. The arrow exited from the other side of his hand and got stuck.

With no hesitation, 'Harry' slammed his hand to the rogue who got too close for his good. The arrow pierced the rogue's skull and killed him in one go.

"...!"

They couldn't move their muscles because if the shock.

"Don't falter! Leave me and get going! This one is too much for us!" Baroness shouted.

"But—"

"No buts! I am on borrowed time, I am just a corpse that is moving! Go already and report to the higher-ups!"

"Such a touching camaraderie brings tears to my eyes~" 'Harry' wiped his tears.

The group hesitated before turning their back and running to the Gate.

"Wait! Take me too!" Ashy called out but none of them even bothered to turn their head to look at him.

While the Baroness held back 'Harry', Misha entered the gate while the long-range dealer was about to enter in a second or two with his extraordinary speed.

"Argh!"

From the wooden floor, a spike formed right beneath the long-range dealer, piercing his foot and exiting from the other side. He pulled his leg, watering the wood with his blood.

Jumping on his other foot, he too entered the gate.

No one took Ashy with them…

'Damn human selfishness!'

Having nothing to do, Ashy pondered about entering the gate without having a Mark.

The experienced Eclipsed Walkers died against 'Harry', there was no way his inexperienced ass was going to be a help.

And, he also didn't want to stay with 'Harry' either.

'Damn it! Just a few days ago I was buying cup noodles, and now I am trying to stay alive in one way or another! Isn't it fucking unfair!'

Internally complaining about his misfortune, Ashy watched the fight. To enter the Gate, he needed a Mark but to get a Mark, he needed to find another Gate. Or, he could enter with someone else who carried a Mark, however, the only one with a Mark was the Baroness who didn't have any intention to enter the gate, let alone take someone with her.

The Baroness, in her words, was a 'moving corpse' that was 'on borrowed time'. So, it was obvious that she just wanted to kill 'Harry' before her time ran out.

'But it is not possible for her to kill it.' Ashy concluded. It was something obvious.

However, he still had a chance. A dangerous gamble of all or nothing. Survival or death.

Holding his knife with his left hand and hiding his right hand at his back, Ashy got dangerously closer and then he shouted:

"Grandma, beneath you!"

The Baroness didn't even flinch and jumped back. The place she stood turned into wooden spikes. Even if Ashy didn't warn her, the Baroness would still escape. She did it many times in the past few minutes.

But, if Ashy were to not warn her, she wouldn't let her guard down around him even for a little bit.

As the Baroness landed in front of him, Ashy plunged the dagger into the back of her knee, the tip of the dagger easily exited from the other side, effectively limiting the Baroness' mobility.

Not giving her a chance, Ashy swung his white claws to the Baroness' right arm, cleanly severing from the elbow.

"You fucking little devil!"

"Gah!"

Rolling on the ground, Ashy coughed up dark red blood. Although he managed to cut the Baroness' arm, he received a powerful kick to the chest before taking the arm for himself. It was too fast for him to see and react, let alone defend it.

'If she weren't weakened, I would have died right there…'

Pushing himself from the ground while his ribs aching, Ashy looked around.

The Baroness wasn't in good condition, he needed to take the arm and escape immediately before she fall.

'There!'

The severed arm was at the right while his ebony dagger was at the left. Although Ashy didn't want to leave this amazing dagger that could cut bones like butter, he needed to stay alive.

Sprinting to the arm at full speed, Ashy kissed the ground as his lips split open and his cheeks cut. Something caught his ankle and the place his face crashed so conveniently changed into thorns.

"Hap!"

Getting up while groaning, Ashy found Harry's hand that was cut from the wrist was now holding his ankle.

Ashy pierced the hand with his claws, nailing it to the floor. Then with his other hand, he broke the claws and set his hand free.

"Argh!!"

It was more painful than he expected. He thought it would be similar to cutting a nail but he was heavily mistaken.

His hand covered with black blood and broken claws, Ashy grabbed the Baroness' severed arm. The Gate Mark was in the shape of blue angelic wings that were on the skin, were gradually dissipating like a mirage.

"Oh fuck!"

Hugging the arm to his chest so closely, Ashy ran to the Gate. The sounds of clashing behind him got quiet as a voice reached his ears.

"Ashy~ Where are you going?"

As the sound of the wind passed over his head, the Baroness' head fell in front of his feet. However, the Gate was also in front of him.

Ashy jumped to the gate, dodging the wooden spikes that formed under his feet. Right when he was about to fall into the Gate, 'Harry' spoke.

"Put Blood Berries under your skin~ they are perfect. I will see you later, Ashy~"

This was the last thing he heard before his vision was covered by the intense light.

And the end of the 'prologue'
